- In this video, I'll be hunting $1 Bills and $5 Bills (FRN- Federal Reserve Notes) for Star Notes and Fancy Serial Numbers! I picked up 15 bank straps ($1500 in $1's) and 3 Bank Straps ($1500 in $5's) of both federal reserve notes and teller bank straps from several local banks in order to search for Star Notes and Fancy Serial Numbers!

Rob! The bill at 10:00 is also a 'Flipper/Rotator'. The numbers are all readable when the bill is rotated 180 degrees. Only bills with digits like 6, 9, 8, and 0's can do this. A few will stretch this rule to include 1's.

You can trade those peices of paper for other ones. Still nice though. I used to collect paper money and I still have envelopes filled with this type of stuff. but I found that there's way more money to make with rare gold coins such as the dahlonega and Charlotte minted gold coins.

I did my first crh of a SINGLE roll of nickels. I got a 1939 a 1940 and a 1970 EXTREMELY clipped planchet. I might do more in this hobby

Finally got my bank to give me some nickels. Only $40 but it's a start. She wouldn't give up a box! I did get a $50 bag of pennies before they sent them out. I will go through them tonight. After a nice talk with the manager, she agreed to order me a couple boxes of halves! So far in the nickels...all I found was a proof Canadian 2008 nickel. LOL I don't collect foreign generally, but it's gorgeous.

Doc Lee was it frosty? Because most of the canadian circulation coins look proof like because of their mirror finish, but they aren't proofs. The proofs would look very frosty👌
Eli's Coins Good point. I have several proof coins that are frosty, this Canadian coin is not frosty. I thought that perhaps, Canadian proofs are like Canadian Bacon... lol, I love my Canadian friends. Eh!

There's only profit on eBay because I don't know of any dealers that would pay a premium for most of the stuff I see pulled in these search videos,and I'm not just talking about RobFinds Treasure. Speaking of eBay, I see a lot of " fancy serial numbers " that aren't quite fancy enough.

What's the difference between federal reserve notes and regular dollars? Do you ask for federal reserve notes or is it just what they give you?

Haha. I know. I am thinking about doing some 20s myself. A few years ago when I was NOT collecting at the time (like I said, I started back up this year). I was at a bank with a family member cashing a small settlement check from an accident for 14,000. I remember having two bundles of the 50s and 2 bundles of 20s and it never crossed my mind to search for them. I am kicking myself now. But my bank is warming up to me. My family has been banking at this credit union for 37 years...I grew up inside that place...but all new people now. Anyhow, you have rewoken my passion, brother, and I truly thank you for it.
I wouldnt have kept any of those 5's in the beginning.

Good on ya, mate. It's best to start collecting early in your youth for mid-term or long-term purposes. Consider investing in silver coins as well.

Rob, I think it would be a cool video to search through a large amount of Chuck E. Cheese tokens, I know it sounds silly but you can actually find some good finds! Some notable ones to keep are ones from Mexico, silver ones from 2006, the old design from 1990-1996(although ones from 1997-1999 can also be rare) or the old old design from the early 80's to 1989, and the rarest one you can find are the ones that say "showbizz pizza" hope that I could help!

I got 10 1996 $50 bills and all the serial numbers are basically the same but the last numbers are 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 on them.worth keeping?
You might be able to get a few bucks over $50 for them but that's about it at best. I'd spend them - depending on what the first 7 numbers are.

I'm looking for info on a $100 It's a 1966 A (I do know that it is the last year of the red seals) with a serial # A 00378837 A (I'm dyslexic so I had to make sure I was reading/typing hat in right). It's got 3 crease lines from where it was folded into four layers. & no tearing.
I looked this up, and this bill was put into circulation by a gang of gypsies, and visits a terrible curse on whoever holds it.

Web notes are a type of United States currency named after the "web printing production" method of printing on continuous rolls of paper. Between 1992 and 1996, the Bureau of Engraving and Printing experimented to see if a web press that used continuous rolls of paper was quicker and cheaper than using flat sheets. The notes produced were dollar bills from Series 1988A, Series 1993 and Series 1995. They are legal tender and are not considered error notes, although they are somewhat scarce and more valuable than bills produced by the sheet fed method.
