I've really enjoyed it and think it can be valuable - I've done two other videos on it on my channel, check those out for sure. I'd just say, let him make it his own thing and don't try to regulate it like a training device - I think it can have a lot of value as a thing players get to do on their own without parents being involved. Put the headset on, and it's all you - do it how you want and enjoy it.
I bought a cheaper pitching machine for my 10u son and with lithium battery powerpacks it is easy to take them to a local field that is empty and hit. No more generator and the cumbersome nature of all that or a lack of 110v power outlets. We also have the Win Reality on the meta quest 3 and my son has hit on it for 2-3 days a week for 8 weeks so far and it has been great. I even hit on it and it is a ton of fun.... if nothing else it keeps the game fun and enjoying the grind of hitting. We have a small backyard but we put a 20' cage in the back to do soft toss and T work and that too has been great but obviously not the same as full speed
We were doing simulated innings early one season at a park backstop by our house and a team came by the field to do some drills. The coach was late. Every kid on that random team did at bats against my kid and everyone was enjoying it. That is what it's all about.
Dan, I’ve got a question about high school level practices. Do you have a video discussing Pitcher Only’s and practice plans? Curious how to keep them busy, without filling their time with running, ground balls, hitting etc. how can I maximize them during practice?
