Yes, I think he was a chemist. Didn't know he was in South Melbourne I was doing a bita werk at AAV in Bank Street around that time. But I do remember seeing him in the city one day.Paul ? Think that was his name ? Often used to play heavies and hoods.

I think in many ways life was better in the sixties, the music certainly was. Less regulation. No speed cameras on just about every road, you were much safer walking the streets. If something broke you had it fixed unlike today where everything gets thrown away. No home invasion’s, no mobile phones so no mugging’s by the same people. I remember the sounds of the blokes yelling out HERALD in the afternoon outside flinders street station. We didn’t know how much things were going to change.

@1:09 I am sure that is the Princes Highway Sandown. The road behind up the hill is heading to Springvale Junction (5 ways) where it crosses Springvale road. The bridge immediately being leads into the raceway/racecourse and is still there.

At 1:13 the car is a rare International Harvester Scout 4wd. Early SUV before they got that name and really popular. Unusual for the dominant local truck maker at that time to make nearly a car although pretty truck like and did not catch much. Of course sought after now.
The Melbourne Uni scene from 9:08 is I think approaching from the Grattan Street entrance. The older buildings look like the law building (at right, though I'm not sure because it's now hidden by trees) and the "Old Arts Building" (with the tower). The medical building or the Baillieu Library is in the background as the car goes around the corner. The newer building with the students outside is the "Babel Building".
Remember going to that Cole’s and the café every Wednesday. Nan would come in from the farm and collect mum and I and take shopping and to the market and we’d have lunch at the Cole’s café. Lime spider and jelly and cream and chips n gravy.

And the woman’s toilet at the top and there were some Cole’s offices up some steps there’s a well. At one point there’s was a garden centre out back. Remember as a kid running down the ramp. Funny enough they had woman’s toilets in Cole’s but no men’s toilets.

It was the world's third highest building when it was erected in 1889, (demolished in 1980). So if you see any film of it, I'd be hugely grateful if you included it in one of your videos.
