You made my day, Miguel! Thank you for the kind comment ☺
I have some more videos coming soon that I think you'll enjoy. But I also accept requests, so let me know anytime if there's anything you'd like me to cover or investigate, I'll see what I can do 🙏

@@toonraider123 I look forward to seeing them! Btw your video on Scrappy Doo was a breath of fresh air. I loved Scrappy as kid & when it was revealed that he was the main villain in the movie I was appalled, saddened & was the first time I ever felt like I wanted to demand my money back!!
Scooby Doo on Zombie Island is THE feature film in my opinion
Anyway, thanks for validating that I'm not wrong in having been a Scrappy fan! 😁

Crazy to see the animation progress in just 5 years from 1933 (01:30) to 1938 (02:15)

The reason I looked up animated Sherlock Holmes was because I just watched the episodes of Scooby-Doo Guess Who? featuring Sherlock.

That's awesome, I'm so glad you found this channel! There might be some other topics you would enjoy, I recommend the one on Scrappy-Doo and whether all the hate he gets is fair. Thanks for the comment 😊

If I may make a couple suggestions for the next video:
Gravity Falls - "Headhunters"; and two cameos in My Little Pony: Friendship in Magic - "Rarity Investigates" has two background ponies at a cafe that are clearly meant to be Sherlock and John from BBC's Sherlock and there are two background ponies in "A Hearth's Warming Tale" that are definitely gaslight era Holmes and Watson.

Thank you for your suggestions! This last weekend was spent researching the next video, and I'm updating it to include more appearances from recent years, so I really appreciate your suggestions.
Please feel free to share more sightings of Holmes that you may come across, you can find me on Instagram or Facebook. Really appreciate it, and thanks for watching! 🙏

Nice video piece, enjoyed it. The first animation appearances for Holmes I have in my notes were:
    1914
    Another Tale
    Featuring Sherlock Bug
    Lubin Manufacturing Company, U.S.
    20 mn. 28 April 1914
    Dir.: Vincent Whitman
Plot: “Sam Bug & Raskus Bug are suitors for Mandy Bug. Her intentions are strong for Sam, so she gives Raskus the 'cold shoulder'. Raskus Bug's blood is aroused and he loses no time in telling his troubles to his gang, the leader being no other than ‘Gyp the Bug.’ They cook up a scheme whereby they kill a silkworm which is very much against the law in Bugland. They put the silkworm in the rain barrel near Sam Bug's sweetheart's home, then they get a Bug cop and Sam Bug is arrested. Mandy knows it is the work of the gang and gets Sherlock Bug, the great detective, who gets on the trail, traps the gang by blowing up the gang's den, puts them all in jail and Sam Bug is released.”
Cast: Sam Bug, Raskus Bug, Mandy Bug, Gyp the Bug and Sherlock Bug.
Odds and Ends: “Another Tale” precedes the animated “The Adventures of Mr. Nobody Holmes” (1916), the earliest animated Holmes on record by two years. A couple of other very significant but little known Sherlock Holmes film firsts would also occur in 1914. The first animated Sherlock Holmes film, and the first all black cast Sherlock Holmes film, featuring a black Sherlock Holmes, appeared, and on the same reel! “On the same reel with A Tale of a Chicken. An animated cartoon of ‘Bugdom’. Senseless.” "The Moving Picture World" magazine Vol. 20 Apr. - Jun. 1914 pg. 968
    1916
    Adventures of Mr. Nobody Holmes
    Animated short.
    International Film Service, U.S.
    Short 20 March 1916.
    Dir.: Gregory LaCava (1892-1947)
Plot: ? Mentioned as the first animated Holmes films in some reference works, but we already had “Another Tale” (1914) preceding The Adventures of Mr. Nobody Holmes as the earliest animated Holmes on record two years earlier.
    Cast: Animated short.
Odds and Ends: Written by Tom E. Powers.

Really glad you enjoyed it, and thanks for the feedback.
For this video I decided to stick with appearances of Sherlock Holmes in character; I'm working on a video that will include all the various parodies and spoofs of him, and will include your notes. Thanks again for sharing, hope to hear from you again.

@Howard Ostrom: do you by any chance have any notes on Sherlock Holmes' animated appearances in the 21st century? I'd be curious to compare it with my own research so far.
Edit: I've found your book, and will try to order a copy if possible. It sounds fascinating 🕵

Is there anything Animaniacs didn’t touch historically?
