hey all you guitar video watching maniacs, glad you dig the new vibe. we're really happy with it. btw... if there's a guitar in the shot, it's getting done so you don't have to comment "do the [guitar in the shot]." thanks.
That studio is an absolute dream! You guys scored big time! Thanks to Tommy, I guess....sounds perfect. Phil is definitely stoked to be there, he shows it.
Man I am so glad you cut back on that silly reverb. And seriously the Roppoli sounds like a million dollars. Really appreciate the new setup and all the variety. Lots of love to all the team. Keep up the awesome work.
The Ultimate Trine of the YT gear demoing: Phil X, Chappers, and Andy from PGS. Three different playing styles, attitudes and personalities. Equally great. I just wish, that any gear was review by all three of them, cause it would exhibit any gear in three different lights! But they're great anyway :D
Haha, I know you've heard this a lot, but I was in a shitty mood, I can't play guitar for shit today for some reason, friend-zoned again and my braces are broken (more), but this cheered me up so much. Thanks Phil, you made my day! :D
It's definitely a "Black Jubilee". Though technically it's just called a Marshall 50/25 JCM 2550 Model. The Silver Jubilee's in silver tolex & faceplate were only made in '87, hence their rarity. However, Marshall still sold the circuit for another couple of years, until around '89 I believe. The '88 & '89 production runs had the black tolex like the one here in Atrium. The extra switch is for switching the wattage. Good eye! A lot of guys don't know about the black 2550's, (like Phil!) lol.
Any chance of hearing some more recent/popular amps for the drive sounds? Like a Triple Rectifier or a JCM2000. Or even an EVHIII - something along those lines ...
If it's a 57, then yes, so rare that nobody knows if it actually exists. That is either an 80s run (which is still fairly hard to gt ahold of) or it's a replica.
Never played a flying V, is it worth trying or even purchasing one just for the super high fret access? I only own a les paul and it'd be great to have a guitar to switch to if i ever need to perform a song which uses the frets from like 15 and above quite often.... or should i just get a strat? Any opinions would be greatly appreciated, thankyou brothers of rock :P
The black marshall under the Evil Robot gotta be a black Jubilee... Joe Bonamassa uses them.. Cause I've never seen a modern with an extra black switch on the front panel... Plus the number of knobs match the number of knobs on a silver jubilee, but not a vintage modern! :)
If he kicked in his OD he uses a Digitech Bad Monkey, but in this case he just used an A/B/Y box to switch from the Vox AC30 clean to the Evil Robot dirty, Phil seems to like using a double amp setup one for cleans and one for dirty, good trick if you got the cash!
What year is that Gretsch Jet Firebird? I have a '64 and I love it! Unplugged, they sound like banjos, plugged in, they sound like Malcolm Young (if you hit 'em right). Oh, that Flying V is cool too.
When I improvise it always seems that I'm just playing scales linearly(?), would you mind ( Phil ) give me some advice about how can I change that ? Salutes from Argentina ( sorry if my english is bad )
just recently discovered these videos, theyre honestly fuckin great

Incredible sounding, Especially through the Ropolli Amp!!
That studio is an absolute dream! You guys scored big time! Thanks to Tommy, I guess....sounds perfect.

phil... you are my muse and yet i play cello...love you man...
Fantastic as ever Dr PHIL! Im suprised that you didn´t do some VH in this clip--- I read in an interview that Eddie did most of 1984 on a Flying V!!
I've got a 1963 version of that guitar. Its a real beast, and worth a whole lot more than I paid for it.
Man I am so glad you cut back on that silly reverb. And seriously the Roppoli sounds like a million dollars. Really appreciate the new setup and all the variety. Lots of love to all the team. Keep up the awesome work.
thank christ for a studio, it sounds sooooo much better
Have from Hawaii I love your Birdseye Corina
Awesome screaming ac/dc
Perfect example of in the moment Phil. Killer video!!
the back in black made my day! :)
That guitar sounds surprisingly full for a Flying V. I liked them before, but I like this one most. :D
Damn, the studio makes ALL the difference. I hope this is the new norm.
the audio quality is insane
Brilliant as usual Mr X,

Cool vid like the angles on camera work Guitar fun for sure
Such a studio. Cool
04:58 Phil becomes possessed by Elvis.
I only knew of em because of Bonamassa using them, and him being one of my idols I researched his gear ofc. Plus i've seen the real deal live ^^
Haha, I know you've heard this a lot, but I was in a shitty mood, I can't play guitar for shit today for some reason, friend-zoned again and my braces are broken (more), but this cheered me up so much. Thanks Phil, you made my day! :D
Love that Zep sound

Any chance of hearing some more recent/popular amps for the drive sounds? Like a Triple Rectifier or a JCM2000. Or even an EVHIII - something along those lines ...

Phil, you made the best amp in the world. I think its now time for the best guitar in the world.
Phil X sounds pretty through these tiny computer speakers.

Hey guys, the guitars you see on this video will all be demonstrated, they were brought for that ! Just gotta be patient :)
Pure tone of each guitar with the pure tone of each amp, just killer. No digital tone suckers in the mix. \m/>,
Give the JMP some love!
thanks
How long would I have to hold Phil hostage for, for you to give me this beauty?
sexy tones. I hope you played the VH4 at some point
Amazing jazzy tone from a non-jazz appearing guitar.
If it's a 57, then yes, so rare that nobody knows if it actually exists. That is either an 80s run (which is still fairly hard to gt ahold of) or it's a replica.
Wow, could you do the modern that's sat on the floor in the video please

Hey FA! Awesome video, but i think that the guitar sound should be with a little more volume on the video. Cheers!
The black marshall under the Evil Robot gotta be a black Jubilee... Joe Bonamassa uses them.. Cause I've never seen a modern with an extra black switch on the front panel... Plus the number of knobs match the number of knobs on a silver jubilee, but not a vintage modern! :)
I wanna hear that JMP!!!!
Demo the Modern sitting there in the stand as well please!
