A bill was introduced in Victoria not that long ago and was defeated. The Ministers responsible (can't recall names) stated they rejected the bill based on, wait for it, how suppressors were portrayed in Hollywood movies. No proper research was done, rejected by what they see and believe in movies. Only in Victoria!! It's incredible to think in other countries they have become mandatory for reducing noise pollution...We can only hope one day they will be legal.
Victoria is a “special” kind of place. Very urbanised with little or no connection to country life and nature…. It’s all a bit woke down here.
Long gone are the days when politicians like Henry bolte had his picture taken hunting ducks.
@@clive1539 incredibly our Nanny state has allowed duck hunting this year!! Have to say, pardon the pun, I was blown out of the water when it was announced. Strange thing, the Senate Majority Committee recommended allowing the hunt to go ahead yet many greens members claimed the opposite, lying a-holes that they are. Rumor has it, Jacinta Andrews husband is a duck shooter. We better make the most of it this year, could be our last.
We are governed by idiots.
I’ve been living with hearing damage from the late 1980s when in my late teens. When having hearing tests for working in the industrial sector are always ask if I was a shooter, the damage was done 30 years ago and does not come back unfortunately.
Back 30 years ago almost no one used PPE.
I hope the guys like you help overturn the stupidity of government unnecessary controlling the use of them.
I have a 300 Blackout I would love to use on a family member’s farm at night chasing wild dogs, but are reluctant due to other farmhouses being within 400,metres of the property.
How such a highly regulated country like the UK basically mandate the use of a suppressor but most states in Australia completely ban them show how out of touch with reality our politicians are.
100% agree
I’m not sure why They are still restricted considering in the uk it’s illegal in parts to shoot without one and they are wildly accepted in NZ but not in Australia
100% agree
Personal Opinion - anything and everything that allows feral pest reduction to take place with greater efficiency should be wholly supported by our Governments. Great presentation.
Thanks and 100% agree
Some great news Nathan, and good on Wedgetail Ind ,for their support.
Absolutely 👍
My question to you is? If you succeed in getting them for primary producers and pest controllers. Will you still fight for ALL hunters who don’t have the capacity to make a registered business for pest control to also have them.
That would be the goal. But you can’t even start that process until Qld gets into line with the other states.
@@FVR375 yeah 100% I know you have to take a small price of the pie first before you can have the whole thing. Just don’t want people like you who’re well spoken and have connections on the shooting industry to stop fighting for it once you have gotten them. As we need you guys once you’ve been using them in the field to then use that information to push towards everyone having access to applying for one.
I would love to be able to use them on my sporting firearms also- an approach similar to NZ makes sense
Great news, I would like to see it given consideration for sporting shooters as well to increase hearing safety of persons at a range and benifits to the community that live near one.
It would be nice if QLD / Fed government could use this opportunity to look at UK and NZ policies, legislation, and crime data to complete a study on the benefits of suppressors verse their misguided perceptions of them.
Absolutely agree. This is the first step which at least puts in a position of parity with other states in Australia.
QPS currently run B&T suppressors both for operational and training environments. Put a Serial Number on them, put them down via PTA and register them against our license if needs be. It will even create jobs by lifting our manufacturing output.
Certainly one of the key points here is that if it is a WHS requirement for QPS then it is simply unavoidable to acknowledge that other professional firearms users have the same requirement!!
Agree with your sentiments 👍
Great news Nathan. I have all of my firearms suppressed except shotguns and am looking into that too! I have hearing loss from helicopters and firearms - even though I have tried to protect my hearing. Some of the pro shooters and helicopter pilots use two lots of hearing protection...I wish I had1 Suppressors are a way of life in NZ for most now and I hope you lot get them and use them soonest! Politicians who do not know what they are talking about should investigate the topics they are asked to vote on and be fully aware rather than vote in ignorance. Keep'em coming!
Absolutely agree and thanks for the encouragement. As soon as this goes through ill be suppressing all work rifles for ground and aerial work!!
Good luck it comes down education. Suppressors have not had any criminals ramifications here in NZ. Great products
Absolutely!
@@FVR375The extra bulk and length would compromise portability etc or fast robberies. And nothing like a loud gunshot to gain attention to victims.
The Hollywood and anti-gun lobby emotive impressions have been seriously detrimental to availability of effective pest control weapons (& some recreational ones). NZ's firearms law upheavals due to one toerags extremism and police failure to administer then current law to a basic level (then effectively lobby lawmakers to go overboard with restrictions) is a lesson for Australasia. Unfortunately enough of those affected will take resentment and resistance and distrust of authority to their graves. And some possessed assault weapons (for no good reason apart from ego/attitude, they are NOT effective hunting weapons except for niche applications). Many which remain at large, apart from the compliant and all those who were licenced with additional checks and requirements as approved characters/security etc. whose recorded semis were all recalled. One estimate had 50-100 000 still in the non-licenced owners possession, those who didn't qualify for or circumvented he correct endorsement. The pro's were essentially discriminated against for being legal.
A pending review to attempt to sort some of these problems is pending but being in politicians hands and the intense distrust firearms owners have, will make interesting watching.
Certainly tough seeing how that was rolled out in NZ. It always amazes me that the first reaction by government with anything firearms related is to target those who are fully legal and compliant whilst virtually ignoring criminal elements.
@@FVR375 lived in worked in both countries and it baffles me with the level of health and safety in Australia that suppressors are still mostly prohibited. Great on the farm around livestock, less stress on other wild animals in the area as well. By no means totally quiet just takes the unnecessary crack away. Now if ya sort this out along with state forest hunting and daylight savings I might have to call QLD home again lol as long as albanese doesnt do a number on you like jacinda did here it would be hard to beat Qld living
@@FVR375Being endorsed but without MSSA's (kept valid in case of spot aerial work opportunity, an unusual situation) it was infuriating to get repeat demands to hand in my MSSA's, not possessed so not registered (when doing that work had got endorsement so holding them was ok). A demo of the police records.
Since, it's been disturbing how many decent responsible people have expressed they wouldn't register all (some none) of their firearms due to it being an invitation for extremist political interests to identify, then ban them. Not good for anyone, except crims wanting guns
Good luck. In NZ anyone with a firearms licence can buy a suppressor. Which is as it should be. It’s getting so in many areas it’s a bit of an etiquette breach to not use them.
This is good news and your good work is greatly appreciated. However given the legislation and regulations being discussed in relation to the murder of four queensland police officers and the consideration being given to the broad range of restrictions being implemented in WA I'm afraid we won't have firearms much less suppressors if the labour government is returned at the next election.
Agree. But our politicians need to remember that Australia is a country that relies on its primary industries and given the issues with feral animals in Australia there simply is no option to remove firearms regardless of which party is in power. It is certainly our duty as Australian citizens to remind our elected officials of the realities of the environments that we live and work in. Labour States need to be very careful with regards to how they approach firearms policy given that we as a shooting community will vote with our feet if they continue with their current nonsense.
Congratulations on that positive line of discussion.
Good to see your efforts having some affect mate.
Thanks for your work.
Well that's somewhat positive, thanks for the update.
You bet
Suppressors are simply about health and safety...even the UK has them.
100%
Out of curiosity why only the push for primary producers and contractors and not for all firearm owners or are we not good enough to own a suppressor
That may well be a longer term goal. But the reality is currently that other states allow primary producers and professionals to have suppressors. Qld doesn’t allow anything presently. It is a relatively simple argument to justify suppressors in a work related context under WHS legislation. It is far more complex to justify a change above and beyond what any state or territory has in place currently. It would be great to push for suppressors for all firearms users as per countries like NZ and the UK but that simply is not a reasonable first step here given current conditions. It isn’t about including or excluding its about reform that is workable to both sides of the argument.
Don't make perfect the enemy of good. Once suppressors are allowed in a workplace context and it can be shown that it hasn't increased crime rates etc, it is an easier argument to say that all shooters should have access to them
@@sammurphy5454it is nice to see someone who gets how this process works. It is incremental but we have to follow a process. 👍👍
Well done mate. Most appreciated for your efforts
Great news nathan, suppressors also reduce a lot of felt recoil ,helping people with arthritis like myself, who have to use amd have used biggish bores for years with suppressors, in my case 300 win mag and 9.3x62, keep up the good work nathan
Rgds steve
Thanks Steve
Good to see a little bit of give 👍🏻
They need to be called moderators to move away from public perception of silencers.
Great news Nathan , some light at the end of the tunnel 👍
Hopefully. We will continue to see this through to positive resolution.
Great to see a step in the right direction at least👍
Absolutely. Some distance to go yet but a start is a start.
Your audio is really quite and hard to hear. Thanks for your updates and hard work to push for surpressors.
Well done, and Thankyou 👍
Great result mate, well done!
The video makes them sound quieter than what they actually are. A .308 with suppressor still requires hearing protection… that should say it all.
Being ex military and an avid hunter in North Queensland this is good news.. but unfortunately my last hearing test came back as a 2 out of 10.. so it probably a little to late for me…. 😢
From a boom to a bang...
Fingers crossed QLD can focus on the WHS factor and the fact they will remain in the firearm permitting system. Just in the right part of it, instead of with rocket and grenade launchers...
Absolutely!!
Wow that is great news. Nothing personal but if you use adobe edition for your sound editing can you normalise the sound so the volume can be more acceptable . We can hardly hear you without doubling the volume
Most suppressors only reduce the sound by 15-20 decibels
Just enough to reduce damage but nowhere near enough to disguise the fact that a firearm has been fired 👍
suppressors will never we allowed for the same reason body armour isn't available for civilians
Completely different arguments. The fundamental difference is that in most States and Territories in Australia suppressors are available for occupational users….
Suppressors legal in QLD , with this government, TWO CHANCES?
we can live on hope for them on the farm.
Yes. That is the intent.
Great news indeed chap, wonder where the hierachy have suddenly found some everyday common sense...lets hope its pressure supplied by you and a few others like Wedgetail Ind...and not that an election might be looming...give it horns...👍👍👍
Bit of column A and a bit of column b id say.
If we could sue them for not allowing us to save our hearing from shooting wether recreational or work related useing firearms we would already have them
It is a very nuanced argument in Qld given the current categorisation
Fingers crossed
