the light wire can help you get more hook ups, cocks the fly nicely. Great pattern Davie, thank you for sharing!

Mr. McPhail, you never cease to impress me. What a beautiful fly. How do you learn so many patterns so quickly? This fly is on my list of flies to learn. Thank you very much and God Bless.

      Hi Terryll Monroe,
I've tyed flies for more than 30 years now and being a Ghillie and Fishery manager I learnt a lot and as well I have worked for a fly tying company in Thailand which has introduced me to many fly patterns..TH-cam has helped me a lot as many ask me about certain patterns and some that I have never heard of so I'll search the internet to find them so this is another good way to learn new flies..I'm glad you liked the fly and the original Grunter was tyed by Grant Luke of Scotland...
      All the very best Davie

    Hi David:
I have never fished a Loch, but can visualize this rough beauty Owl blowing in wind simulating a drowned insect. Hope to visit Ireland one day, truly appreciate this native patterns and superlative instruction!!

The waxed thread is a good color, but I'd love to tie that fly with some Cahill silk! Thanks, Davie!

Very nicely tied davie just love these rough little dries both to tie and fish i'll tie some of these over the weekend. Speaking of weekends are you still attending the G A C open weekend at the end of the month if so do you know what day you will be tying ? Hopefully it won't be like arctic Russia this time. Thanks again davie atb.

      Hi George,
The Grunter style of fly is certainly worth having in your box as it's like one of those flies that you tye and only works best when it's falling apart or a dry that has lost it's tail and sits like it's no chance of coming off so fish think it's got no chance of flying off..I'm sorry I'll not be at the open weekend as I have other plans due to it being easter weekend..
      All the very best Davie...

    Davie,
What colour would you use for the body if wanted to repesent a Marchbrown?
Great tie buy the way. Thank you.

      Hi crazytrutas,
Hare's ear dubbing would be ideal as this was on the original dressing that Grant Luke tyed..It's a very good style and I'm sure if you tye a few you will not go wrong..
      All the very best Davie..

      Hi Alain Gobillot,
I used google to translate your message and I am not sure what you were asking but if I'm right you are asking what I use for the sound...I use a Sennheiser ME2-US Lapel Microphone which I connect direct to my Sony AX100e Camcorder with an extension cable..I hope this is what you are asking and it helps you..
      All the very best Davie..
