    Warren is awesome - he really transformed their sound to something special. I wish he was still in the band. Medazzaland and Pop Trash were amazing!

      I agree with you about Medazzland.. a few highlights on Pop Trash... but something was missing...BOTH were better than Red Carpet Massacre.... YIKES. (except for Box Full of Honey and Falling Down)

    Warren made it look and sound like a live band ,Duran Duran's biggest selling record to date (wedding album) was recorded in his home (living room) !!!!

    Warren was in the band for 15 years. I dont see the connection you made? The band wrote Warren a letter, asking him to leave, so the original line-up could reunite. Its a shame, they made such good music together.

    Warren Bruce Cuccurullo (Nueva York, 08 de diciembre de 1956) es un músico de rock estadounidense que trabajó por primera vez con Frank Zappa durante los años setenta. También fue miembro fundador de Missing Persons en los años ochenta.
    En 1986 se unió a Duran Duran, convirtiéndose en miembro a largo plazo de la banda hasta noviembre de 2001.

    This was a great concert, I agree Warren needs to be back with Duran Duran, He was the best, a very complex guitar player, his fills when playing guitar are incredible, a lot going on when he plays live. I've seen him with Zappa, Missing Persons and of course Duran Duran…… Andy & John Taylor bailed the band. Sum say Warren was a guitar for hire ? Not even fricken' close, look at the work he's done over the last 30 years. In his 50's now, he still rocks…… Warren Pleeeez get back with DD…. U make the Best Music EVER !!!!!!

      Is a sad thing that the band fell apart. They made so many hits in the decades they have been around. They are truly a legend!

    • @BolsaChicaRadio
      @BolsaChicaRadio 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      You are so correct about Cuccurullo. He was a true master of allowing his one guitar to sound like four or five all climaxing at once. You're correct, when you stated that he "is a very complex player & his fills when playing guitar are incredible". Not that I am comparing him to other unique & complex players like Lindsey Buckingham or The Edge, but something brilliant has to said, about a man who can make his guitar sound like an exploding cacophony of orchestrated electrical sparks, flying out of an amplifier. Indeed, Townsend was LOUD, Hendrix was Exquisite, Harrison could Weep, and Page was the King of the Riffs...but Cuccurullo could make his instrument squeal, moan, screech, scream, whine, yell and CRY UNCLE...all at the same time...and only few can do that. - BCRadio

  • @ooviedoc
    @ooviedoc 14 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Well Warrend always showed his commitment with Duran Duran since he arrived. I've read Warren was offered a pice of the earnings of Astronaut if he walked away to let Andy come back. He played his final Japan dates when he was already out but the dates were commited previously, so I think it's clear he was kicked out of DD. Missing Persons reunion came just as a "B-plan", the proof is that the reunion lasted just a little.

      Then Taylor left again.i bet Simon felt like an idiot

    • @ooviedoc
      @ooviedoc 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@garrymathers9 Actually they had to kick Andy out of the band and throw to the garbage the work they'd done for a new album. Was expensive and hurting! Now, keeping Warren could have been great but the previous years he escalated to guitarist/producer/director and I think John, Simon and Nick became dissapointed with the process and results. How they could downgrade the monster they've raised and keep him happy? At least Simon acknowledged it was very uncomfortable to tell Warren he was out and Nick acknowledged Warren was a gentleman. But yes, Warren has been the most talented guitarist in DD.

    • @queliciekarina9095
      @queliciekarina9095 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think Nick have a problem with W. I've read the forum said John clashed with W and want out. Nick is as workaholic as W so they made a great team. S felt sad and alone because J left. It's a shame W couldn't get back ( his clash with JT I think as "legendary" as NR vs AT ) so Nick and JT are even on the guitarist problems, LOLL. Perhaps like now is the best for this Gemini Twins

    • @ooviedoc
      @ooviedoc 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@queliciekarina9095 Not sure about a direct clash. I feel JT didn't appreciate enough W not sure why. I have not known about comments provided by them about their relation (could be healing to know the truth!). Both look like good characters. Perhaps JT personal problems at the time plus he felt himself invaded as W was evolving as producer/director? After JT's departure I think NR/SL control of the band weakened so a raising tension with W could appear. Don't you think W got a "rebel look" by the time of Pop Trash? That could be a hint. If you add the band had lost popularity and was playing mostly in small venues maybe that's when they decided to reboot the band, recapture the direction and magic while calling Andy as an "only guitarist".

    Personally, I think Warren is DD saviour in the 90s. Without him inspiring the band I think DD would go hiatus in that era. It's a shame the founding members of this band always have problems with guitarist ( NR vs AT, JT vs WC ). This made the band lack of guitar presence :((((

    True story: I was interning at Sony music/NYC in 2005/6 thereabouts, listening to Medazzland on my CD player, when in walk in Nick Rhodes and John Taylor to pitch the idea of a reunion album. They thought I was Charlie Walk, President of Sony, because he looked like me and dress like me. I started gushing to them about Medazzland; best album yet; quoting from Big Bang Generation. Sony probably informed them, "that guy's just an intern." lol.

      They let Andy go. They wanted him back because they knew he was a major part of their sound. It was a combination of Record Company and some members of the band that they let Andy go. He argued against RCM the record company forced them to do that fights wth Nick. Andy wanted to stay if only they would of continued and put out Reportage.

    @GRANTHAMRASTER I like Medazzaland and Pop Trash! Different band, but one I like, too. I'd like them if they were named "Bozoperous." There's no continuity with the old sound except Simon's voice, and that's OK. I respect them for it very much and liked it (although I objected at first).
    Their "reunion" is typical, as usually was a bad idea, and it was incapable of capturing the old magic. Then again, nobody wants to hear the old magic. "Hungry Like the Wolf" could find no audience, now.
