I'm in love with this tiny house!!! The ultra contemporary chic feel is wonderful, serene with the color scheme! I love the spaciousness as well, just all around livable!
RIP Jay Austin. I don't think that the turn your journey took, proved you wrong about humanity's positive side. You left the world doing what you loved and deserve all the respect and grace. :)
This is great. Nice steel joists. Nice burnt wood. Nice simple flat roof. I have a 15/12 pitch roof, and I'm bonkin' around all up and down. This tour has given me some good ideas for my next one. Well done!
You have my vote for most environmentally friendly/classy styled tiny house! I love it. I'm using the same colors of black & gray in my loft apartment because they virtually go with everything - as well as exploring practical shelving, bedding, and storage options. I'm definitely going to work towards a tiny house lifestyle!
To the family and friends of this wonderful man and woman, please know they have done so much for us all. Am so sorry for your loss. Peace to you. Jamie
I love the tiny house concept/notion and I especially love minimalism. With that said, when one is over 6ft tall, as I am, and built like an Amazon, tiny houses become straight jackets and one goes nuts.
Deek, Love your work. I'm writing from Melbourne Australia and really enjoy your style, values and approach. I watched your recent Sydney session and resulting video. Don't lose your sense of humour, eye for the diverse and the valuable. Please come to Melbourne some time, you'll love the place. Keep on Deeking Stephen
This is a great house. Love the steel used for the bed. In a tiny house every inch counts, and that's a clever way of gaining a couple of spare inches to work with.
Really nice house. Also Jay has an awesome t-shirt. This is a statement for the no-kill pet shelter movement. Thx, Jay for wearing that t-shirt on your youTube video
TeaTime0223 Definitely agree. Great job, Jay Austin! I did see one earlier this morning, a husband and wife worked on it together, but the inside was white breadboard. Quite nice and gave it quite a spacious feel. Would you mind sharing how much your trailer and tiny home weighs and how much it took $ wise to built it? No worries about furniture though. I live in an 1813 renovated mill in New England. It's just too large for me. I've been wanting to do this since the mid 2000s, as I had read an article in the NYTimes.
I will be in DC tomorrow for work. Wish I could have seen you Deek. I love the tiny home. If you ever need some help Jay I'm only 45 minutes away and be glad to volunteer.
Best designed one yet in my opinion all the other videos I've seen to me they look so raw like unfinished I'm not a natural wood lover so I love to see it painted or finished in some way this tiny house is modern but comfortable
What I would like to know is when Tiny House Shack hands-on building will come around the West Texas area... it seems like a lot of fun, especially for DIYs! :) Love your concepts Deek, they look like a lot of fun and they're so much more innovative than their larger counterparts.
Great tour! So great to see inside of this boneyard beauty. Thank you Jay for letting us inside. And thank you Deek for another cool spot :) #boneyardstudios
Science Lesson, Induction stove tops work by creating a changing magnetic field that induces a current in the metal Pot/pan/cup what have you, causing it to heat up. Their is no "heat" passed from the stove to the pot, the heat comes from within the metal itself.
Many good ideas in your home....simple and smart. I personally like the idea of composting toilets ! We all eat and it all comes out (thankfully!) .....people get so wrapped around the axle about that!!
This is slick bro! I like what you did with the wood on the outside. I'm building mine exactly like this. Good idea with the small wall shelves and magnets for seasonings. Now I'm reconsidering installing cabinets.
I was checking out his house while watching the minimalists documentary. I recognized the house immediately and had to see the rest of it. Thanks for sharing this. I really like his style. And being vegan is a bonus ;)
I really like the moss counter top! Cleaver idea. Also like the induction stoves. I might get several like he has and get rid of my stove/oven (which isn't even hooked up in my trailer).
Alas, we do Saturday tours very, very rarely. You're more than welcome to come by and take a peek at the exteriors from the fence at any time, but if you want a walkthrough of the homes, I'm afraid that's only likely to happen Sundays. :(
Hey Jay, Great Tiny Home. Alicia Egan mentioned in her post a month ago, "Where is your rain Catchment system?". I feel Rainwater Catchment System is a great idea to save money, Eco-friendly, smart and healthy. peacej
Awesome. Induction cookers use magnetic energy to vibrate the metal and it heats up. The only drawback is that induction cooking only works properly with cooking pans that containing iron-the only metal that efficiently produces electrical (eddy) currents and heat from magnetic fields.
The house Absolutely Rocks!!! We have several people here locally in 'the zoo' pondering building tiny spaces... zoning/land ownership and good design continue to evolve... So far you all seem in the lead with collective land ownership. How easy was that to pull off? It almost seems tiny housing design is improving daily, although I am sure that dangerous and poorly thought out structures (that my parents most feared I would do) still happen. With greater public involvement there IS greater creative achievement solving problems of beauty and secure housing. It is desperately about time this movement grows. By the way Jay, I've said forever that portable induction hobs like yours make more sense. You can bring them out or put them away. Hope sometime after we do ours here we get a chance to meet. Best to you...

I didn't think I'd like this, but his modern interior makes it comfy. I still can't get used to climbing up to a bed. I'm a girl. I can see using a loft for a reading area though.
jay austin you betcha, Jay! Sometimes even much faster than a guy because it's all about strength to weight ratio. I used to pound up the hills on my bike when I used to ride with guys about 8 years ago.
That's very cool. I didn't catch the name of the little stoves. What are they called again? I think that this whole concept of a tiny home is very affordable and beneficial to everyone especially our planet.
Derek, you should put together a specific question list you ask for every video.. Great video, but I would have liked to understand his power choices. I heard him say rainwater for the water supply, but the heater looked like an electric, so I'm assuming he's on grid?
Reminds me of a shotgun style house. I like it! Flat roofs rock because you can freaking stand on them! But how about that heater right up against the wall? I'd check the manual on that one. You should definitely put you a couple of Remington's on the walls, eeeh, maybe not.
I'm in love with this tiny house!!! The ultra contemporary chic feel is wonderful, serene with the color scheme! I love the spaciousness as well, just all around livable!
I love this one. I love how he has his bed. It looks so much less cramped than most others. And the tv placement is a great idea.
RIP Jay Austin. I don't think that the turn your journey took, proved you wrong about humanity's positive side. You left the world doing what you loved and deserve all the respect and grace. :)
Thanks Deek for showing Jay's home. Neat place, and so tidy!
This is great. Nice steel joists. Nice burnt wood. Nice simple flat roof. I have a 15/12 pitch roof, and I'm bonkin' around all up and down. This tour has given me some good ideas for my next one. Well done!
RIP Jay. Thanks for being an inspiration.
The foot-operated kitchen tap is one of the best ideas I've seen in a tiny home, or any kind of home to be honest. Love it! Great space too :)
LemonTreesOnMercury yeah, I first saw that on an apartment tour of an english teacher in Korea...it was pretty convenient....

Thumbs up for a cute tiny house and compassion over killing. 😍❤️❤️❤️❤️
I love the tiny house concept/notion and I especially love minimalism. With that said, when one is over 6ft tall, as I am, and built like an Amazon, tiny houses become straight jackets and one goes nuts.
This is very nice. I think the flat roof is a great idea. It really gives a feeling of space and the foot pump on the sink is brilliant.
This guy has an amazing sense of style.
I'm in love with this design and its features.

Loooove the mason jars! One of the best tiny house I have seen so far!
This is a great house. Love the steel used for the bed. In a tiny house every inch counts, and that's a clever way of gaining a couple of spare inches to work with.
So cool to see how you're changing things up with the needs of your home!
Rustic modern is my favorite kind of design.
Really nice cabin full of brilliant solutions. Love all about it.
I love the cabinets with the mason jars. Beautiful design overall.
Really nice house. Also Jay has an awesome t-shirt. This is a statement for the no-kill pet shelter movement. Thx, Jay for wearing that t-shirt on your youTube video
Love the design! The best tiny house I've seen so far! So pretty! Well done to the owner!

I love the Colors you used. Very industrial and masculine. Beautiful hands down!

Compassion over Killing ❤️ and a tiny house ❤️ he's perfect
In a surprising twist, ISIS doesn't subscribe to "compassion over killing."

Nice build Jay this little house is awesome.
Just beautiful... love the style of this house !!!!
I think this is my biggest inspiration for the design of my tiny home
My favorite hands down! Hey Deek. :)
Great house, really like all of the different features. My wife is in love with the moss kitchen counter. Good Job man.
can someone explain the moss counter? is it real moss? sanitary?
Jay, I can't wait to come off on Sunday! It will be my first experience up-close with an actually tiny house.
Great tour! So great to see inside of this boneyard beauty. Thank you Jay for letting us inside. And thank you Deek for another cool spot :) #boneyardstudios
Very cool tiny house. The flat roof and bed loft with skylight is unique.
Thanks so much for the inspiration and all those clever design ideas! Looks wonderfully cozy!
The induction idea is brilliant! 👍🏻
I just love your home! Its so nice of you to share :)
Love this design, very modern

thanks Kareem- REALLY appreciate it!
+relaxshacksDOTcom do you ever come to north carolina
I’m so sorry to hear about the owner’s tragic death.
this is one of my favorite tiny homes!
Many good ideas in your home....simple and smart. I personally like the idea of composting toilets ! We all eat and it all comes out (thankfully!) .....people get so wrapped around the axle about that!!
'ROOT' IS SO GOOOD!!
Funny the "Yoda voice" I love tiny houses :-) thank you
i'm really diggin the moss counter top
your home is GORGEOUS
This is slick bro! I like what you did with the wood on the outside. I'm building mine exactly like this. Good idea with the small wall shelves and magnets for seasonings. Now I'm reconsidering installing cabinets.
Induction stoves are amazing and incredibly safe. Electricity required is 1/4 of electric stove. Consistent temperature in increments. Amazing.
I love the compassion over killing T-Shirt: )
I Love everything about this house!
so far, this is my favorite. i like white walls more though, but this design out of all the ones i have seen is the best
what a cool house to live in it rocks...well done mr.
definitely the type of style i would look into when looking for a place to live( very long ways away)
Beautiful!!
And all the jars of food----Veganism ROCKS!!
Love the shirt ! and the tiny house ! :)
WOOHOO Seattle Plum Bistro shout out! Great recipe book BTW.
FANTASTIC recipe book. I just finished a recipe out of there two minutes ago.
I was checking out his house while watching the minimalists documentary. I recognized the house immediately and had to see the rest of it. Thanks for sharing this. I really like his style. And being vegan is a bonus ;)
This is great for a bachelor type person to start out. Better than a efficiency apartment in my opinion.
I really like the moss counter top! Cleaver idea. Also like the induction stoves. I might get several like he has and get rid of my stove/oven (which isn't even hooked up in my trailer).
Nice build. I remember the neighbors build using SIPs panels. Great lot. Hope you do tours of the others as well.
Rest In Peace
Rest in peace buddy! what a loss.
Gorgeous house and hot vegan guy, I don't know if this video could have been any better ;) Love what you've done Jay!
Cool, I see you only have Sunday tours right now. I'll wait for a Saturday, as that's the day I'm in DC usually. Thanks!

Very nice! Great job!
Very nice, efficient design.

Very cool. I think you should have a hoist which raises and lowers for lounge-like seating in front entry. There's some unused space there..
I really want this!
ha that's like the Tardis- bigger on the inside! lol great size!
I really like this one
Austin wrote in April: "Badness exists, sure, but even that's quite rare. By and large, humans are kind. Self-interested sometimes, myopic sometimes, but kind. Generous and wonderful and kind. No greater revelation has come from our journey than this."
Dometic makes a pretty rad 3 mode fridge. It runs on ac, dc and propane! A tank lasts me a month.
super cool!
pretty sweet
This is a real cool video.
Rest In Peace, Jay
I like it!
very cool!!!
I didn't think I'd like this, but his modern interior makes it comfy. I still can't get used to climbing up to a bed. I'm a girl. I can see using a loft for a reading area though.
Girls can climb just as well as guys can. :)
Xander Taylor Many people are doing small stairs with closet's/storage under
jay austin you betcha, Jay! Sometimes even much faster than a guy because it's all about strength to weight ratio. I used to pound up the hills on my bike when I used to ride with guys about 8 years ago.
I love tiny houses bc they are sooo adorable and cute! My bedroom is almost 3x the size of the tiny house and very empty and boring...
Anna C Awww,, i would fill your Bedroom and end thy boredom....

That's very cool. I didn't catch the name of the little stoves. What are they called again? I think that this whole concept of a tiny home is very affordable and beneficial to everyone especially our planet.
Induction stovetops. The brand I have (the ones in the video) is Fagor.
LOVE
I'm pretty sure I know that place in D.C. because I visited the old graveyard 😀
Derek, you should put together a specific question list you ask for every video.. Great video, but I would have liked to understand his power choices. I heard him say rainwater for the water supply, but the heater looked like an electric, so I'm assuming he's on grid?
Yup, on-grid for the time being, but all-electric appliances to eventually go solar.
Reminds me of a shotgun style house. I like it! Flat roofs rock because you can freaking stand on them! But how about that heater right up against the wall? I'd check the manual on that one. You should definitely put you a couple of Remington's on the walls, eeeh, maybe not.
Thanks! It's an electric heater, so there's no venting out back-no more than an inch of clearance needed. :)
