Once again thank you to everyone for your very positive replies , Its not easy to try and please everyone as we all have our own opinions on what we would like to see and hear , but to read such kind comments is great . I have been involved with rs500s for what feels like all my life and i could talk about them every minute i'm awake , lol , so to see others have an interest is just great . Thanks once again to Adam for coming over to do this video and let me tell my stories . We still have other cars we can show so keep looking in . Thanks Paul
Fantastic Paul, it's a great relationship you've got with Adam and we are certainly all gripped when you talk about your love and passion for these amazing cars 👍👍👍
Is there anything funny about the engine blocks?I ask cause a mate was crew chief for an off road racer in Australia with an ex dir motor,he said it seemed "diffrent"
Thanks Paul & Adam for your amazing passion of these truely wonderfull machines. Yes Aussie would love to hav em bark. But great to know Yorkshire has em.
As a kid who grew up in the ‘80’s. It’s so great to see Group A, B, C cars being rediscovered, restored, and out competing again. Such a great era for motorsport.
Wish my school teachers back in day were as interesting to listen to as this guy , I might have done a bit better in my GCSE's . Top video again Adam thanks for sharing
I remember seeing both of these cars racing in the BTCC many times. It's so good to see them with their original Australian racing colour scheme and in such good condition. Thank you Adam and Paul for such a great video.
Another great video Adam, well done Paul for another superb restoration, I am very proud of what you have done to both cars, Andy Lloyd, the last custodian of DJR1.
I went to the Bathurst 1000 in 1988, bringing back many memories seeing these cars in all their glory. Thank you for taking time to show them to the world.
I watch these cars race live at Winton Raceway with my Dad. Dad was involved with Group C during the 80's and 90's. Spent a lot of time in the pits as a youngster, hanging around the DJR and the Volvo teams. Dad still has a chat to Dick and John Bowe when he gets a racing meet.
As a fellow Yorkshire man, who has lived in NZ for 40 years and a Big DJ fan. This vid is truely amazing journey through the fantastic history of this car and Aussie Motorsport. Would truely be a gem seeing these two at the the worlds best racetrack Bathurst. Great to hear a Yorkshire accent again.
Hi Adam, just had 50 min of pure heaven watching this mate, Paul, thanks again for your fantastically knowledgeable input, so interesting to listen to, your a walking encyclopedia mate, both cars look just fantastic a credit to your skills. Thank you both for making the time to produce quality video's, very much appreciated and great viewing. Cheers, Alex.
Bloody Fantastic!! I remember these two cars debut at Calder in 87. Beautiful job on the restoration and love the passion and how proud the owner is. Cheers
Footwell chequered plate was used to raise the drivers feet off the floor of the car. Because in long races such as Bathurst the floor would get so hot that the drivers were burning their feet. 👍
As an Australian touring car/supercar fan who watched these cars on track back in the day, both of these cars look fantastic. Love listening to Paul he has a lot of knowledge on these cars and as other commenters on here have said, I could listen to him all day talk about these cars.
Wow. I loved these cars when I was a kid. Awesome to see them in being taken care of. I spoke to Dick about them one day. He reckons they were pretty wild to drive as they had heaps of power that came on all of a sudden due to massive turbo lag.
Brilliant brilliant watch, cheers too Paul for sharing his gold, and to you Adam for the time to put it out here for us, 500s were THE touring cars for me and its so cool to relive those Saturday morning grandstand memories. TOP content 🔥🔥🥃
What a brilliant video on these iconic cars. Thanks so much for sharing with us. The attention to detail is amazing and Paul is such a knowledgeable guy. Really interesting to watch. Thanks Adam.
never get bored with these videos........on the 10th october 1994 i picked up my white 3dr....no car ive had since was as special.....a good 500 was around 9 grand.......
My older brother just bought a moonstone blue 3 door (He had a Graham Goode Racing tuned one in the 90s which was written off) and the money they go for now is scary.
My saph cossie is still sat in the garage not running the engine in it I brought from Paul and I still remember Paul saying on Passionford some 14-15yrs ago when I put up photos of me unloading it off the trailer to work on it down a m8s yard get the engine running and drive it there 😜🤪 Well more kids came along and i still not got around to getting it going 🙃....... But I've said I will not sell the old girl and will get it going one day 😛🥰 Keep these videos coming it gives me a kick up the arse to see what I'm missing 🤗
Thanks Adam and Paul for a absolutely awesome video!! I really connected with this video 👍 I’m an Aussie and I lived in UK Newcastle in the 90s and just loved Cosworths!! I love looking at these cars and hearing the history of the cars is just so awesome plus the connection between our countries is just brilliant . Thanks gentlemen I’ll watch this video a few more times!!!
Adam, I have to thank you. Your content is amazing. Love your work, and form me your one of the top 3 car programs available. No joke, I love cars it’s a obsession. Very picky at what a car show should have. Yourself, Jonny, and Harry are so enjoyable to watch. So glad your doing what your doing. I am only to happy to watch. Well done your a good man Adam thank you.
I have 3 LHD touring cars in the workshop now and all of them have a floor plate , and every LHD car i have seen or worked on also has them , and the exhaust is on the other side , Also DJR 2 was fitted in period with a floor plate
@@paullinfoot6017 Ok fair enough. Sounds like you know more than me about it!! My dad raced a Volvo grpA out here in Australia and I remember the Sierra's pretty well and though the exhaust exited out under the drivers door... but could never afford to own one so definitely could be wrong. I remember a story of someone driving a grpA Sierra without the floor plate and it melted the sole of their driving boot! Haha. I have an old rx7 race car now with the exhaust under the pedals and I definitely need the raised alloy plate to keep the boots cool. Maybe I got my stories mixed up. Loving all the videos of "our" grpA Sierra's you have deprived us of 😝
@@MrMikrace The exhaust always exits from the right hand side on a sierra as that's the side the turbo is mounted , You wouldn't cross the exhaust under the floor to the other side as there simply isn't enough ground clearance to do so . What Volvo did your Dad drive ? I'm good friends with Gianfranco Brancatelli , and as i'm sure you know he also drove a group A volvo so your dad may know him or raced against him in period .

Love the video visits to Pauls some really cracking stuff you both make a good pair and its great to see the Ford History being kept alive well done Adam keep em coming.
The Bosch original fuel system on dgr1 sounds awesome comparing it to a modern fuel map even though it's more efficient and has better a start up another great upload Adam🥇
Absolutely brilliant to watch and listen too thank you if I could ever own one of these cars they were just awesome I did get to meet DJ at Silverstone in 1988 another top bloke.

Love these cars, remember Johnson/Bowe coming to Silverstone, they impressed me enough that I went to Bathurst, then they came to England as the Trackstar cars, great stuff.
What an absolute legend Paul is another cracking video could listen to his knowledge all day long and never get bored. Was given 2 options tonight my Mrs or this video guess I’m in the dog house 😂 keep up the good work guys
Yes we would like them back but it's hard to push that line seeing how well they have been looked after. Fantastic that all the DJR cars are alive. For anyone overseas who don't follow Australian motorsport please have a look. Proud history and very innovative. I am sure I saw these cars race at Amaroo Park and Oran Park.
A disgruntled Aussie. They suffer from terrible tall poppy syndrome and it will really piss off Dick Johnson fans that the cars are in the UK even though Dick sold them to a UK based racing group. Thank goodness Paul owns one and Ian has the other. Both are in obviously safe hands.
I'm gonna look through all your videos Adam, in case yourself and Paul have already done this and I've missed it, but I'd love to see a '3-door' as yz call 'em vs a RS500 side by side car comparison. A rally car vs touring car Sierra comparison would also be cool if you have access to examples of each. These videos are absolutely mint, love 'em mate.
What a cracking in depth knowledge Paul has, great vid again, love listening to the tales ect of the cars, even just watching dick Johnson doing qualifying laps in these cars just makes ya want one, the both look stunning together too
Evening Adam I used to work next door to track star back in the late 80s at a place called long crendon in Buckinghamshire. I used to lift the body shells of that car up on a pallet onto a Mezlin floor with my forklift, for Mike he was a nice bloke but a flash sod . He was only there a few years and then it all went pair shaped for him
Remember this car beat the legendary "Godzilla Skyline" in 1992 at Mt. Panorama qualifying the lap before the famous Mark Skaife "Godzilla Lap" Both amazing cars... Great to see its still around.
Another great video Adam once to here the history behind these motors 👌 I'd heard the floor plates were like a safety thing also stops the floor buckling and grabbing your foot in a shunt ??
Another great video Adam, whenever you head over to Paul's I'm enthralled, so very enjoyable that everything else is put on hold! I've seen some of Paul's cars at the Footman James classic show here in Manchester a few times and they were out of this world, truly stunning, shamefully I've only realised through these videos that they were Paul's cars and I wish i would have known and been able to have a quick chat in person with him at the shows. I've watched a video fairly recently (well during "lockdown") on TH-cam about Dick Johnson, a sort of aussie car show it was "unique car magazine" and he talks about the cars being very low on power, I'm pretty sure he says on the dyno they struggled to make 90 hp without the turbo fitted! But hes says when it was fitted and given 2.4 bar they gave 680hp and the power was there with a delivery like flicking a light switch!!!🤣🤣 and that very good drivers just couldn't live with them when they came to drive them! what a car!! They are so special and the way Paul treats them and cares for them is outstanding, when he says he loves them he truly means it you can tell 👏👏👍👍, with this level of passion and knowledge I'm surprised Paul wasn't involved with one of the many race teams back in this golden period. For me as a kid Saturday mornings were a trip to Gregg's the bakers with my dad, and home to watch the touring cars on tv, Grandstand with Steve Ryder hosting from the studio, Rouse, Soper, Hoy, Mahoney, Bristow, Gravett, Harvey, and the late Mike Smith (rest in peace) Thanks for the great videos and thanks for linking up with Paul too, its brilliant to watch listen and learn from him.
I thought 1 and 2 went on to be mike and robs car ,remember watching mike at brands when I was a nipper ,happy memories, what a great story ,fantastic😊👍

For me as a kid Saturday mornings were a trip to Gregg's the bakers with my dad, and home to watch the touring cars on tv, Grandstand with Steve Ryder hosting from the studio, Rouse, Soper, Hoy, Mahoney, Bristow, Gravett, Harvey, and the late Mike Smith (rest in peace)
Thanks for the great videos and thanks for linking up with Paul too, its brilliant to watch listen and learn from him.
I thought 1 and 2 went on to be mike and robs car ,remember watching mike at brands when I was a nipper ,happy memories, what a great story ,fantastic😊👍
