Excellent picks. One documentary I’d highly recommend is called *The Russian Woodpecker* . It’s not very well-known, but it’s exceptional. A short summary: In Russia there’s an artist whose father was one of the many military pilots who were sent to fly over Chernobyl and report conditions immediately after the nuclear meltdown. The artist was later born with radiation in his bones and organs, and his father died of radiation poisoning. In an incredibly ballsy series of investigations and interviews, he tries to uncover the truth behind what caused the unprecedented Chernobyl nuclear disaster, which he is convinced was caused by a single high-ranking military engineer who was desperate to cover up a massive failure of his own doing. I’m extremely skeptical when it comes to conspiracy theories, but after seeing The Russian Woodpecker at a local film festival, I was gobsmacked. And I’m American. We never use the word “gobsmacked”.
Child of Rage is one of the most disturbing documentaries on you tube. A 6 year old girl was sexually abused by her father from the age of 1. She needs constant therapy to stop her from killing other children. To hear her speak of the things she did to her brothers in her little girls voice, but with the cold hard eyes of a psychopathic killer, will stay with me for a while. I wonder what became of her.
They caught up with her later, she’s doing much better now (a nurse actually). Unfortunately her previous behavior was an reaction to the violence she experienced as a child and she was very lucky the therapy she received helped her since technically the disorder she developed currently has no accepted treatment (one of the proponents who treated her, later killed a girl with a “rebirthing” therapy)
I live in a nordic country and when I saw that documentary I was very disturbed, I remember thinking "how is this a thing in any country other than third world countries??" This could NEVER happen in my country because we have children's rights and other laws that even if some sisko would try to do this, they would be stopped right away. USA among some third world countries are the only places that had REFUSED to ratify the rights of a child. It's very bizzarre.
The Imposter is so intriguing. I truly believe that the family has everything to do with that boys disappearance. I think he was so outta control that either the mom or brother snapped on him and killed him. I believe the sister knew and many others in the family too. That’s why they we’re so welcoming to the man knowing that he looked nothing like the missing boy.
At 2:59 not only that but it changes the child forever emotionally mentally and psychologically. Those are the main things that make a person and s person's life what it's going to be. Plus, if you take the butterfly effect, into effect they will be directly effecting others by what those judges did, so there is way more lives in their hands than just those unfairly sentenced.

a really heartbreaking documentary i'd recommend watching if you have the heart is "Dear Zachary", a sort of home movie style documentary made by a friend of a man who's died and wants to help his parents gain custody of his son. (cant say much else without giving too much away)
Best documentary ive watched was Zeitgeist. At the time I was on an LSD trip & I cant even begin to describe what happened. Changed my life, gave up drugs, alcohol, smoking & I even decided to study psychology. Im a councillor now.
Omg!!! YES! ZEITGEIST! I watched that a few years ago with my husband and we were both amazed. Changed perspectives---brilliant yet frightening documentary. I try to tell other people to watch it but none do
When I watched The Confession Tapes with my parents, they kept yelling at the television. I got many lectures that I should always call them before I do or say anything. We never finished it because they were so mad. Anyway, a very good show. The first episode was incredible.

I grew up in and currently live in Luzerne County and some of the kids caught up in this atrocity lost more than the years they spent in that awful place, (not to mention the mental issues and PTSD a lot of them suffer from) and their futures , some kids lost their lives because a few committed suicide because of their experience.
I had guinea pigs, so like... Wider faces and no tails, but they looked mostly the same otherwise. Even remembering seeing a model of a plague rat in a nautical museum upsets me sometimes. There's a huge difference between domestic and wild rodents, yes, but they're still amazing and intelligent creatures who deserve to be protected as long as they're not causing harm.
@@rosenrot234 Oh, yeah, they're brilliant! Rodents in general. They can be taught things like responding to flashcards with colours on them by pressing the right coloured button. Incredibly clever for their size and how long their 'childhood' segment of life is.
@sarah S. Yeah...sadly they live up to 2 - 3 years. If we could somehow make their lives longer they'd be such a great pet. Well they already are great pets but even BETTER pets. I mean the obviously "bred to be pets" rats not the nasty wild ones. I remember my first rat first showed how smart she was by figuring out "Oh that crinkly sound the treat bag makes must mean its snack time" So even if I was opening a chip bag for myself she'd jump over waiting for these little yogurt treats I'd give her. Every now and then I gave her a tiny piece of whatever I was eating. They're just so cute when they eat as they hold stuff with their tiny hands.

I watched the Rats documentary when I had rats in my apartment. The managers did nothing. It was up to me and my friends to get rid of them and block any entry into the apartment. I couldn't sleep, I would hear them in the walls. They would dart around the apartment. I couldn't cook because it was unsanitary. I consider myself an animal lover, but believe you me - they had TO GO.
They are pests, but they don't deserve to go out like that. If you take it upon yourself to end the life of any living thing, it's your responsibility to do it ethically or not at all. Shit, crush its head with a hammer if you need to, sure its brutal but without a doubt its painless. Just dont do.... That.
I once slammed a big bamboo stick on a Rat's head .. One shot & he flew & fell on the kitchen floor.. With Blood dripping off his mouth.. Picked him up by a broom & threw him off the window.. Next morning i saw crows feasting on him.. So Satisfying !

I don't the Rats the documentary can change you perspective on rats themselves. Think it is educational in showing you the effects of rats but not rats as a personality. I see this film as more of a film that plays off of fear while sprinkling the truth here and there, but i doubt there is even one segment showing the contrast between wild/semi-tamed/and domestic rats because a creepy film made to scare you will get more viewers than a film that shows you all aspects, sweet or bitter.
One of the best documentaries I've ever seen is "requiem for the dead". It used to be on youtube in full version, but now you can only find it on HBO. It's INCREDIBLY powerful👌👌 OMG!! someone was able to download the entire documentary!! You should go watch it before it's removed again!!👌👌

the imposter isn't about incriminating a family its about how easily information can be distorted if you put all of your focus on one narrator without questioning who they are or what they done.
Getting false confessions or otherwise sending innocent people to prison is worse than just what happens to the innocent person. Lots of people couldn't care less about an innocent person getting railroaded because they assume (for no good reason) that it could never be them, and they figure the person must've done something to draw police attention (even though just being a neighbor can be more than enough). What those short-sighted cold-hearted people fail to realize is that when you send an innocent person to prison for a crime they didn't commit... you totally guarantee the freedom of the criminal who actually committed the crime. Once they get a conviction, they don't keep investigating what they think is solved, obviously. So all those prosecutors slaving away to get a conviction at any cost are the criminals best friend in the world. They can do whatever they want and as soon as the prosecutors set their sights on someone, the criminal can rest easy and continue their crimes. Maybe your family will be next. About The Imposter... you said the boy went missing when he was 13... and the guy gave himself the same tattoos the kid had? He had tattoos at 13?
Kids for cash. How is that even legal to sentence a child for juvenile for cursing? And if a judge is giving an illegal punishment - How did that went through? Isn't there a system in America that stops illegal judgments from happening? Or is in America people can be sentenced to even life in prison for like stealing a gummy bear? How does the legal system there works how come the legal system allowed it to happen? The issue shown in kids for cash is not just a flaw of just two judges. It's a flaw with the entire legal system of the United States
I think Sebastian Burns and Atif Rafay were wrongly convicted. (That doesn't mean they are innocent, it doesn't mean they aren't) The prosecutor's whole case was built on the fact that they were coerced into waiving their rights and inculpating themselves. They should have never said anything to the police. Not because they are guilty but rather because they actually just might not be guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. I'm not convinced. A confession. That's all they have. That's not a case, it's a terrible joke. A miscarriage of justice.
Sebastian Burns was basically threaten to be killed. It's very clear if you watch the episode and listen to the in-cover cop that he thinks he's in danger. He's being told what to say. He doesn't come up with it. He doesn't admit it. He had basically no fucking choice. It's a fucking disgrace.

In my religion rats can’t be killed because of religious beliefs and people feed rats fruits and food in temples. sometimes its better to kill rats but doesn’t mean going on a rat killing spree. Totally depends on the situation.

They’re from NEPA. It was pretty big news but I think the documentary really glossed over the biggest part. Chiveralli told the parents and the kids at the last minute, sign here and now you’re giving up your right to a lawyer. IMO that was the worst thing they did.
I saw put those judges in a room with all those kid they sentenced and let the kids do what they want with them

Getting false confessions or otherwise sending innocent people to prison is worse than just what happens to the innocent person. Lots of people couldn't care less about an innocent person getting railroaded because they assume (for no good reason) that it could never be them, and they figure the person must've done something to draw police attention (even though just being a neighbor can be more than enough). What those short-sighted cold-hearted people fail to realize is that when you send an innocent person to prison for a crime they didn't commit... you totally guarantee the freedom of the criminal who actually committed the crime. Once they get a conviction, they don't keep investigating what they think is solved, obviously. So all those prosecutors slaving away to get a conviction at any cost are the criminals best friend in the world. They can do whatever they want and as soon as the prosecutors set their sights on someone, the criminal can rest easy and continue their crimes. Maybe your family will be next.

Kids for cash. How is that even legal to sentence a child for juvenile for cursing? And if a judge is giving an illegal punishment - How did that went through? Isn't there a system in America that stops illegal judgments from happening? Or is in America people can be sentenced to even life in prison for like stealing a gummy bear? How does the legal system there works how come the legal system allowed it to happen? The issue shown in kids for cash is not just a flaw of just two judges. It's a flaw with the entire legal system of the United States

I think Sebastian Burns and Atif Rafay were wrongly convicted. (That doesn't mean they are innocent, it doesn't mean they aren't)
The prosecutor's whole case was built on the fact that they were coerced into waiving their rights and inculpating themselves.
They should have never said anything to the police. Not because they are guilty but rather because
they actually just might not be guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. I'm not convinced.

Sebastian Burns was basically threaten to be killed. It's very clear if you watch the episode and listen to the in-cover cop that he thinks he's in danger. He's being told what to say. He doesn't come up with it. He doesn't admit it. He had basically no fucking choice. It's a fucking disgrace.
