Loved riding this section in the early 90's, no suspension available on the bikes back then...

Nice. I did the Flume trail in 2020 not as exciting, but great views.

Nice man. Question, does any section of this trail link up with a trail that takes you to Dardanelles Lake (hope that close spelling).

It does! It splits off at the top of the Xmas Valley descent. It's a fun out-n-back to a beautiful lake.

How fast were you going down the hill? My knees were hurting watching this😋

10-15mph most likely but at times slower on the technical stuff. The suspension really does an amazing job!

Double black? C'mon. It's not Whistler or even Northstar--or Toads!

I have never been to whistler or northstar. I find Toads much easier than this slab but that is because I am not comfortable on slabs.

@@tahoemountainlife Fair enough! I just think you have to leave room in the ratings for legit technical trails. Pinecrest is another area with technical sections--with big steep slabs--that can go on for miles, but most would consider them single black. MtbProject and Trailforks often overrate trails. It's a bit of a pet peeve!

The "double-black" is just the one section at around the 8 minute mark. It's quite gnarly. The gopro definitely doesn't do justice how steep the bottom part is. Frankly, I'd consider Christmas Valley a tougher ride than Toads as a whole. There's really only the one real technical part bit on Toads near the top and the majority of it is pretty tame. This trail as a whole is rated as a single black which I think is about right, especially for the area.
