@@tahoemountainlife Fair enough! I just think you have to leave room in the ratings for legit technical trails. Pinecrest is another area with technical sections--with big steep slabs--that can go on for miles, but most would consider them single black. MtbProject and Trailforks often overrate trails. It's a bit of a pet peeve!
The "double-black" is just the one section at around the 8 minute mark. It's quite gnarly. The gopro definitely doesn't do justice how steep the bottom part is. Frankly, I'd consider Christmas Valley a tougher ride than Toads as a whole. There's really only the one real technical part bit on Toads near the top and the majority of it is pretty tame. This trail as a whole is rated as a single black which I think is about right, especially for the area.
Wow!! Awesome, heart-stopping ride!!! Enjoyed every second!!! Thanks and Stay Safe!
Glad you enjoyed it!
You both have such impeccable riding skills.🤺❤ Thank you once again for taking us along.
glad you enjoyed it!
Wow! What great skills you two have! Split second decision making too. Thanks for a great ride!🎉🎊
Thanks for watching!
Loved riding this section in the early 90's, no suspension available on the bikes back then...
You guys were the true mountain bikers for sure!
Extreme Mountain Biking. Endless rocks indeed. Beauty!!!!😊
thanks Janet!
Nice. I did the Flume trail in 2020 not as exciting, but great views.
The flume trail is great!
Nice man. Question, does any section of this trail link up with a trail that takes you to Dardanelles Lake (hope that close spelling).
It does! It splits off at the top of the Xmas Valley descent. It's a fun out-n-back to a beautiful lake.
spot on, we normally check out that spur but we didn't have the time.
How fast were you going down the hill? My knees were hurting watching this😋
10-15mph most likely but at times slower on the technical stuff. The suspension really does an amazing job!
Hey what watch is that?
Fenix 6
Double black? C'mon. It's not Whistler or even Northstar--or Toads!
I have never been to whistler or northstar. I find Toads much easier than this slab but that is because I am not comfortable on slabs.
