Can you show us how this is connected to the hammond and Leslie. I love the sound and would like to do the same to my Be and Leslie 145. The parts are not too expensive also. Thank you.
Only conceptually now I am afraid as I have moved on to a Profkon ZD-1 which I will be reviewing for you in the next couple of weeks. Basically we tapped into the output terminals on the C3 and went via 1/4'' jack through the pedals seen here in a loop and out to the Leslie
I’ve not no. The micro amp seems to drive the 122 really well but not the 145 where I attach the Organ Grinder. Maybe I’ll have a look at it for you. I also have a profkon ZD-1 now on the C3 which is lovely!
Nice informative video. Actually in my opinion, having the EH signal pedal turned off delivers that very aggressive growling tone which I feel can go well alongside heavily distorted electric guitar sounds like that of Tony Iommi's distortion. I'm talking about playing a duet of the organs and electric guitars.
Very nice rig. Here’s what I believe is happening with your rig: Your C3 output is overdriving the preamp in the Nova Reverb which is _always on_ even when the reverb effect is bypassed. The MXR Micro Amp+ is a *clean boost,* _but_ it is overdriving the Nova Reverb in a _nice_ way due to the treble boost/bass cut that you’ve dialled in on the MXR. So, your overdrive is still probably 100% occurring in the Nova Reverb, but it is being EQ-shaped by the Micro Amp+. Here’s a test to prove my theory: Remove the Nova Reverb from the chain. You’ll find the Micro Amp+ either overdrives the Leslie in a nice valve overdrive way, or you’ll get a clean sound from the Leslie but louder and with treble boost. You’ve got an Atlas treble speaker so you should be safe overdriving your Leslie preamp. You could try putting the Micro Amp+ _after_ the Nova Reverb to get the best of all worlds
Thanks for this mate. Cool information. I bought the reverb last and so I know the reverb is not the big that overdrives. I have a volume knob on the C3 these days and I can hear when the reverb gives up and crackles in a Bad way. That said I’m not sure how it’s creating this lovely overdrive but I know it also did it on a friends C3 and that’s how it was recommended to me. When I run the micro amp from my gigging XK5 into my gigging Leslie 145 your totally correct, it doesn’t break up like that. So logically I think you’re 100% right but IIRC I bought the reverb last.... Either way it’s breaking up nicely, kind of like the old Gibson Ring Modulators did! Thanks again 👍🏼
HammondForHire superb! Fast response time for a two year old video hahaha. I wonder where your overdrive is coming from if it’s not the Nova Reverb? Have you tried any valve overdrive guitar pedals? Blackstar HT-Drive might do the trick.... not cheap though!
Crackerbox Palace Studios I use a pair of SM57s with wind shields and a Beta52a over a wind gauze on the bottom. Hard panning the 57s using the bass as a tune up really, kind of half the volume. HTH. Checkout my website www.hammondforhire.com there’s usually some nerdy bits on there too!
GREAT SOUND, hope than this effects are not made in China, the Electro Harmonix is made in USA. MXR and TC Electronic I don't know. Hammond For Hire is really a very great Hammond specialist and lover.
Love that growl, clearly associated with rockers like Deep Purple or Uriah Heep
Do you have a detailed video about where/how you broke the circuit for the signal out into the pedals and also where/how it's reintroduced...?
Not at the moment but I will do one for next season for you :-)

"...it's alright but it's a bit horrible..." LOL That's a perfect description!
Nick, have you compared the micro amp + to the Lounsbery Organ Grinder? Would love to hear your thoughts. Love your videos by the way.

HammondForHire hey a question on a different topic: how do you mic your Leslie on stage and in the studio?
