Enjoy!
Ed, Kaiser really deserves it's own episode. Between the full size cars, the Henry J and the Sears (the department store) cars along with his sports cars and owning Continental engines and even buying Willys his car company was wild.
His company pretty much encompasses the American automobile world in the late forties and early fifties and how the big 3 just dominated.
So true
I remember reading that the Studebaker-Packard merger was like "two drunks trying to help each other across the street". Sadly, a pretty apt description.
I've read the same thing. If I remember correctly, one or both of them fudged the numbers on their true value. Possibly one of the reasons why the merger with Nash and Hudson didn't happen.
Also Kaiser, Fraiser and Willys Overland would all join in on the mergers that would eventually make up AMC as well, they didn't totally disappear.
Ahh, perfect for a dreary, rainy day.
Yes, in Florianópolis, Brazil, is raining too. The best thing to do today is watch Ed's Auto Reviews!
I always look forward to these, Ed.
Thank you Ed for your videos because you are human and not like so many others using AI GENERATED NARRATOR'S.
I had a neighbor back in 1977 ( I was 10 years old) who owned a Studebaker Avanti. It was painted metallic gold, it look so futuristic to me, and to many others. The other fact is my story took place in Ste Foy, Quebec, far far away from the Big Three, let alone an obscure manufacturer. I taught It was an Imported Italian Luxury Sport Car. Great video as always, Sir, Thank You and Peace Out\!!
People may not know Studebaker was a premier wagon maker in the 1800's. Among their products was the famous Conestoga Wagon.
Another very cool video Ed!!!!
Watching from Saint Louis, Missouri USA. Love the channel. Enjoy all the episodes.
Hi Ed. Bob from central Florida here. I like your channel so much that this is the first show on my waiting for hurricane Milton playlist. BTW you should come here and go to the Mecum classic car action in January, 3500 classic mostly American iron for sale.
What a wonderful series, Ed. Thanks so much!! By the way, that Nash Palm Beach is a cute little coupé!
If you're wondering, that hudson italia would cost around 56,950$ today
Literally gasped at some of these designs.
@13:39 I live in South Bend Indiana and I have seen this Car in person at the Studebaker museum what a Beautiful Masterpiece.
Ed's channel is the only one a 50s enjoyer like me hits the thumbs up as soon as it loads the video. Amazing piece of content. I'm so annoyed for the scrapping idea of that 4 door Nash...that thing looked amazing!
Well done Ed. Thanks for sharing 🎉
The Packard Predictor seems to have inspired the '70-'72 Ford LTD. The car itself is in the Studebaker Museum in South Bend, Indiana.
Another excellent report.
4:49 That Packard concept car really reminds me of the 60’s DB5, very stylish!
and the rear looks like the '57 Lincoln.
Excellent work Edward...Never herd of the Packard Predictor...Wow what a concept.
The Palm Beach looks fantastic.
Great series Ed, well done, cheers 👍🇦🇺
Yes, part four!!😊😊😊
Been waiting for the next installment of the American Dream Cars of the 1950s series and it's well worth the wait!
In fact, this is the first time I've known of the concept cars featured in the video.
Keep up the awesome work and warm regards to you from Indonesia.^^
Hello from Germany
Ed, that are damn good videos! Love them!
Very nice "matching shot" between the "Request" and the "Edsel"
The jingle at the end of your video was used in the 1970s from an LA radio station called 93 KHJ
Well done series, Ed. 👍👍👍
The Predictor predicted the nose and headlight design of the second-gen Corvette, THAT's for sure!
Look at that yellow and white nash compared to the special ambassador. They really thought the ambassador was bland? It could have given new life to Nash. I wonder how a merger of those 4 could have worked, each with their own price points and loyal customers.
Id buy a Packard fastback it looked pretty cool and realistic
ED, this should have been called "Episode Route 66"
I expect part 69 to be related to certain things that also found their way into the history of cars
Good video reviews, Mr. Ed. I was thinking, since episode 69 (he, he) is near, you may use that number to give us your insights about some unexpected relations between car companies, like the brief encounter between Citroën and Masseratti (and tell us who do you think was each digit).
The Predictor front end brings to mind the '63 Corvettte. The demise of Packard is a big sore spot for me. Refer to my comments on any of your videos Packard is mentioned.
Eliminate the center vertical grill on that Packard thumbnail and you basically have the 1963 Corvette front end . That was very advanced.
darn it, could've done episode 66 to be about route 66 and the american road trip
The Palm Beach was gorgeous. Too bad they didn’t run with it.
The production Packards remind me of the Russian Zil 111 Limousine
do more videos about theese brands!
Keep making videos !
packard really liked those long butt cars
Next video history of the SUV?
The Packard Predictor... kinda sounds like a pregnancy test
To me, the front of the Predictor looks like a Pontiac.
I didn't know Studebaker was actually Pepsi and also the country of Korea.
Jeep (Stelantis) basically went bankrupt this week. Also Dodge and Chrysler.
Parts of the Predictor are good looking on their own, but the whole thing together is a hideous monstrosity!
Batmobile...Panther..lol
TMI on the nicknames, Ed! 🤮🤮🤮🤣🤣
Some of them are so weird looking, they look like AI. Peace Out!
Well, Easy Ed, isn't taste a dictator? Your affection for the Predictor is puzzling. It's the ugliest automobile I've ever seen; I would not allow my photo to be taken next to it, much less drive the monster down the road. Some cars are "cat" wagons; this baby would send them screaming for the ditches. Yikes, yuck, and what the hell is that?
Ed, I love your videos, but the concept cars are getting old. They really don't matter, no normal person could buy them. I love when you talk about the evolution of certain interesting sectors of the car industry, like your three part series on communist cars. I would love it if you made a video about the evolution of the sports car, maybe do one of the parts on economy cars that were really sports cars underneath like the Corvair and the Mini.
What part of "This is going to be a 4 part episode, and this is the last part" do you not understand?
Let Ed do Ed.
Trump 2024!!!! Make Independent Concept Cars Great Again !!!
wtf does Trump have to do with concept cars.
@@brickhead_07 nothing, but he lives rent free in some people’s minds
I love Trump!
Trump will keep riding the meat of the big 2 + Stellantis. Independent Auto will not change under trump, I’m sure of it
@@TheCarCrazyGuy That’s fine by me, congratulations on your coming out.
