I could have sworn I heard you say, "before you lose your marbles at post-menopause". 😂 I had to rewind and check.
Definitely feels like I'm l losing my marbles along with my hormones! And oh, dear lord, the RAGE I also feel!!! 😡
I'm not a lot of fun anymore.
I used to wonder why women who've gone through menopause don't speak of it... Now I think I know. For me at least, there's a kind of shame surrounding this process... shame at sometimes feeling out of control. And feelings of diminishment too.
Thank you Menopause Taylor for being here and making it a less hidden, mysterious and lonely experience.

I think I fall asleep better with the progesterone at night.

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

Progesterone definitely helps you fall asleep ... but it also makes it difficult for you to wake up, and it leaves most women feeling like a zombie all day long, they literally feel like they could fall asleep standing up.
Estrogen deficiency causes insomnia. And if you take estrogen, you will sleep like a baby all night, but wake up refreshed and energetic in the morning.
So, I guess you could say that progesterone makes you sleep like a zombie and estrogen makes you sleep like a baby.

I have discovered that there's a "trick" to getting other women to et this education. It is this:
Do NOT say, "YOU meed to get this education. Or YOU should watch these videos. Or anything else that tells them to do anything at all.
Instead, say, "Oh my god! I am just so glad I'M getting this menopause education. I knew nothing. I thought X and learned that the truth is Y. I was just sooooo backward on everything I thought I knew. If I hadn't gotten this education, I would have done everything all wrong. I mean, I had never even heard of a menopause education. I used to get all my information from soundbites, the medial, and listening to other ignorant woman. This education is going to save my life, for sure."
Talk only abut yourself. People do not like to be told what to do. But they are copycats. And if you talk only about YOU, they'll listen. And they'll realize they are exactly where you say you were ... before you got this education.

Another incredibly informative video. Thank you. You mentioned that women who have had a uterine ablation may not have to take progesterone in menopause since the lining presumably won't thicken and be a risk for uterine cancer. Have you ever heard of women who don't care for the way progesterone makes them feel while taking HRT and has their doctor ablate their lining so they can continue with just estrogen replacement?

Thank you so very much for this one. What I really needed was the little one liner on endometrium abulation or obliteration as I call it. I really hate how progesterone makes me feel and have often wondered why women would believe the marketing and would buy into using just a hormone that makes them live their lives in permanent pms. I have been using 1/16 of a teaspoon of progesterone cream that says I should use 1/4 of a teaspoon which is 22 mg daily. I tried 1/8 of a teaspoon and I did not like that either, I tolerated the 1/16 teaspoon because I still have my uterus but I did have endometrium abulation at age 49. That was an extremely helpful little one liner to me and I really needed that one. I always look forward to your weekly videos now and I am learning so very much about the big diseases post menopause and believe me I do listen to you hence the very real need to know the info on endometrium abulation and still having my uterus since then. Interesting fact I had the endometrium abulation after a biopsy showing no cancer because of permaperiod at the exact same age as my Mother had a Hysterectomy with Ovaries removed as well for permaperiod. My Mother was WWII generation and that generation had a high prevalence of Osteoporosis because I believe now that they all went in hysterical with permaperiod and the doctors threw them in the hospital yanked it all and called it fixed. Age 49 was the age both my Mother & I got permaperiod. I know we are on Alzheimer's and I do not want you to stop this class for it. But a video addressing the permaperiod that apparently no one talks about might bring some to class early enough to really do them some good. I turn 60 May 19. I personally would like something on post-menopausal osteo-arthritis since bi-estro cream is my arthritis pain cream of choice because it helps so much better than anything else on the market. I use so much of it on my hands feet & knees that I go through a 4 oz bottle every week. I take 4 soy isoflavones at 40 mg each 2 in the morning and 2 in the evening for a total of 160 mg of Isoflavones a day based on stuff you have taught me. But I also have to take 3 red clover blossoms 4 times a day at 430 mg for the salicilic acid anti-inflamatory that doesn't hurt my stomach like the NSAIDs. And it is Osteo MD's are glad to test for something, anything like Rheumatoid that they can treat by lowering immunity response. And I have been told by 2 different doctors in 2 different states that it is Osteo and the only thing they can do for me is prescribe NSAIDs. I have seen a government study that concluded that women on HRT did not get it like women not on HRT. That study led me to try the bi-estro cream and use it on all my arthritic parts twice a day and it does not hurt and has not worsened since. But some good educated information from you sometime would be greatly appreciated. I am very pro-active but the more knowledge I have the better. This is way too long but I haven't commented in a long time. Just watched every video and learned everything you are willing to teach.

I have a question for anyone out there. About 5 yrs ago, I had intense anxiety due to some stress and that led to depression. I never had depression before that and anxiety never got that bad for me , no matter the amount of stress. Since then, I was feeling pretty ok after the stressor passed. Oct 2022, this anxiety and depression showed up again, for no reason. It’s been a roller coaster since then. I spoke to a menopause Dr and she said it was very possible I was experiencing perimenopause anxiety/depression 5 yrs ago due to a hormones drop, the hormones settled the next few years, and they probably just dropped again some I’m closer to full menopause and that’s why I feel so bad again. What kind of fresh hell is that?! I have been taking HRT since early Feb and I feel better but it’s still a struggle some days. How long will it take before I feel like myself again? This is the worst symptom of all menopause symptoms in my opinion.

Have you mentioned uterine Ablation in any earlier videos? I would love to understand how that procedure plays into menopause. Having the procedure at age 39 as elective surgery, I had no idea the ending of my period was the time clock for running out of Estrogen.
Luckily I found your videos and 12 years after surgery age 51 RAN to my OBGYN for an Estrogen patch!!!

@@MenopauseTaylor you are the perfect mix of brains and humor. My respect for you is immense. You are clever and thorough in your analysis, descriptions, information, and your educational abilities are excellent. I’ve watched all your videos but this one came up on my feed, for whatever reason. The workings of TH-cam and algorithms are interesting and you could teach on that subject also, of which I would find of interest. I’m a believer in learning through different methods, repetition being one, so I’m watching again. My HRT journey is interesting, certainly has had its frustrations, but I’m focusing on the positive. Know I hold you in very high esteem. What you are doing is incredible. I have been through a lot (one pregnancy was delivered at 29 weeks) but nothing could have prepared me for the trauma of menopause. I was a severe symptom sufferer and I was so ignorant as to what was happening to me. I am a health nut so I believed all the hype even when my spouse was asked me to get help. I’ve survived on the other side but only because I poured myself into education (that’s where you come in). What I uncovered and learned I find utterly fascinating. The female body is amazing. I started reading volumes of books and research and then you entered my life. Your work on this subject is Nobel Peace Prize worthy. The impact of menopause is life changing. The horrendous symptoms got my attention. It’s the whole body systemic reaction that require all the sex hormones, that is undeniable. In a strange way I’m glad I went through the horrible symptoms because it was a wake up call for my stubbornness to realize what my body was telling me. I was powerless over it. I had never taken medication and practice lots of healthy measures in my life so I was shocked how powerfully it effected me and I could not overcome it despite my trials. Anyway, I just wanted to share a few things with you and express appreciation and gratitude. I watch you weekly, several times throughout in fact. You are a beautiful, lovely woman and even in some of your introductions I feel your warmth and friendship as you call us friends. One should be so lucky to call you friend. Thank you for all you do-you make a difference!

Approximately, how long will the micronized progesterone pill (100 mg) be active on a woman’s brain? Would it make a difference with the following day’s cognitive function if a woman takes it earlier in the evening as opposed to later, before going to sleep? I realize this can vary from woman to woman, but is there any data on an average time frame it takes for one dose to leave the body and therefore no longer act on the brain? And does a progesterone IUD as part of post-menopausal HRT impact the rest of the body or work just localized on the uterus?

    • @MenopauseTaylor

We all metabolize hormones differently. You'd have to do your own experiment on YOURSELF to see how long it affects you.
