IMPORTANT! Do NOT use regular staples! They will rust and make a MESS!!! ONLY use stain steel staples and use many more than you see here. Also, fold the vinyl with hospital corners so the folds facing down so they do not scoop water into the cushions.
You can use a heat gun or hair dryer to mold the vinyl to remove the creases more on the bottom or corners as needed. Cut creases on the bottom and adjust staples. Treated plywood, or fiberglassed wood, even better, stainless staples, too.
Quick question, what thickness plywood did you use and does it seem to work well? Working on my 1972 Deck Boat and trying to save some money. Upholstery shop wants roughly 3k for all I need done.
The correct way is sewing a vertical piece to the top piece. Then wrap it to the board after you heated the vinyl so it could stretch nicely. Use stainless staples and 3/4 in apart.

Awesome video! Thanks for sharing! This was a great educational video for newbies like myself who savvy ourselves as DIYers! I am a new boat (Whaly 500R) and new outboard engine (2021 15HP Honda) owner as in the last 2.5wks and still in the pre launch checklist phase before my first outing with the family. Anyway that aside, I love the cushion tutorial. I have gotten several great ideas thanks to your simple implementation of velcro strips to hold cushions in place. Since my boat is brand new and made of polyethylene I don't want to put any holes in it but want to upgrade features as best I can independently. Thanks to this video I know exactly how I will create additional cushions and seating options on board before my first outing. Great simple videos like yours are everything to people like me. Thanks again and best of luck with your ventures as well! Have a great day!
That’s awesome to hear! Just make sure you get some super strong Velcro, I always make sure to secure the cushions while trailering because of the wind. Looking back at it I do think using rivets would of been a much better option! Have fun, and good luck with the new boat.😎

Horrible job,,, corners are not right
@@cherylekutzer7521 Remember that the point of this was to recover the cushions without having to do any sewing.
@@blaster-zy7xx Thanks

I like the little image you drew on the plywood for ppl who don't know what port and starboard are😆👍🏻
Thanks
What foam did you use? Thickness of plywood? And looks like not treated if using acrylic? Thanks
Good video! Velcro and form are not in your links in description any chance of knowing where foam came from?
Amazon I gave somebody else the link in the comments!
Can you upload the link for the cushioning and vinyl? Thank you!
1st link is the foam I used for cushioning, and the 2nd is the vinyl I used

Thanks for the advice!
Where did you get the foam from? Thickness? Is it thick enough for comfort?
Very comfortable, the link should be in description. Amazon purchase
@@AnchorDownBoat It's not.

Great job and Cute Pup!
Double thanks!
How did the Velcro work out? Did you use Velcro in the bow area too? Did you use an industrial grade?
It worked great, and it was just heavy duty velcro.
@@AnchorDownBoat I used the industrial strength and it’s perfect. Your boat looks great!
@@leesire awesome, and thanks 🙏
Thanks for a great video! I made 3 cushions for my 2000 hurricane fundeck.
Thanks for watching
Great video. Love your driveway.

I have a 93 version of that boat it looks like nothing changed except the color
Sometimes I like to look at the new sea pro boats to see how far they have come now haha!
Killed it
I think they came out great for first time making cushions!💯🎉
What about the back pieces? Did they ever fly off? 😬
nope
Make a cushion to go over the ice box , will make that a nice lounge area
That’s the plans!😁
So crazy.... I have almost the same boat.
Small world! 🌎

Great looking dog, what is she?
She’s a mix between a pitbull, and a boxer! Her name is Tank, and She’s as sweet as she looks!💯😁
Let’s do some wakeboarding behind it
Someday!
it's not well made, there are a lot of creases
I assume it all fell apart by now. Doing things halfass is just halfassed.
Still holding strong my friend
the most terrible upholstery which I ever seen
Learn how to sew. It’s not hard.
😂 looks like sh..😂
