Excellent video, very very good information. Thanks!
I can’t believe this knowledge has been given to us for free! Thank you again for another informative video
We're all about educating and growing the overland and off road community. So glad you're enjoying the knowledge share and please pass it on to fellow adventurists.
Very interesting series of videos - would it be possible to give indications of what the different stages of the rebuild would cost i.e. transmission and engine rebuild?
excellent series thank you so much
Thanks for the continued support, Martin.
Very informative. I would like to see the same on the 3.4 petrol engine
Awesome technical information, thanks for sharing 🌹
Thanks for following and supporting the journey, Rahalati.
such great videos - and all your comments and suggestions are spot on!
i would like to add some suggestions from my own experience after rebuilding the engine of my land rover serie 2a.
First: before starting the project -learn- learn- learn as much as you can so you know how it should be done.
Second: Dont trust anyone. Even the most recommended mecanic may pass through a rough time.
Third: Insist to be part of the game and assist as much as you can in the process.
Fourth: detailed bill- insist to have a detailed bill. how much cost each step.
Last: Dont be afraid to stop the project and walk away if it doesnt feel right. Pay what has be done, take your parts and look for another shop to do the work. i had to redone some work twice, look for another mecanic, etc. but the engine works fine since 5 years
You will spend a fortune on rebuilding the engine and the future of your car depends heavily on how this job is done.
there are two filosophies: pay the mecanic, let him do his job, take the result and live with it.
or be part of the process and understand what is going on. your understanding of the engine-world expands like an explosion you will treat it different and the engine will definetly last longer.
Thanks for the reply Bernd, we covered this in the first episode and the relationship with the people building up your car is very important. There are always going to be something that happens or something that's missed and it's all about how your workshop deals with sorting things out. This is where researching and reading reviews and other's experiences is so important before choosing a workshop. And after the work has been done, it's the vehicle owner's responsibility to keep an eye out, do the daily/weekly checks and make sure any issues are identified before it's too late.
Hope you enjoy the rest of the series.
@@TheOverlanderSA definite i will and without any second thought its on my list of recommended websites
I've been watching this series as part of my relaxing Sunday morning routine. Extremely valuable insights, thank you! Looks like a vehicle sent to Paul and his partners in South Africa will be in very good hands and leaves me wondering if I could find such competent businesses in Europe.
So glad you're enjoying the series, Claudio. Paul has built many rigs for clients in Europe, some he helps prepare for trips that can last for months or years. You can check out his website paulmarsh4x4.com/ to find out more and read some testimonials. He, along with his wife Jo, has a channel called The Essence Of Overlanding where they share more of the personal preparation for overlanding. There are also some great stories of his clients' journeys through Africa: th-cam.com/users/EssenceOfOverlanding
Hope this helps
@@TheOverlanderSA thank you for these tips, I will definitely check the website and consider becoming a patron of EOO 😃👍 there is so much valuable info as well!
