In today's video I discuss the history of The Combatribes, a 1990 old school Arcade Beat Em Up that saw release around the same time as Double Dragon 3. The game was created by Double Dragon creator Yoshihisa Kishimoto. Is this the true Double Dragon sequel? Let us look at this GOOD game.

NICE! I jumped out of my chair in excitement when I saw my Sonny commission made your video at 5:45! Awesome sauce! And yes, now that I think about it, Combatribes would have made sense if it were "Double Dragon 3." The story could have taken another dark turn for poor Marian. Thought to be dead after Double Dragon 2, she's cruelly brought back as a cyborg by the mobster guy to replace his also-dead daughter (who looks similar) as the heir to his criminal empire. The Lee brothers have to come back to the city one more time, to take down the bad guys and finally put Marian to rest once and for all.
A Double Dragon style game starring Guile, Robert Garcia and Adam from Streets of Rage? Neat!
Also, let's get Billy and Jimmy Lee in the next Smash!
FINALLY SOMEONE AGREES
#LEEBROSFORSMASH
That is a cool bunch of dudes you just mentioned. I always loved Adam and Robert and although I hate playing against Guile... You can't deny his coolness. World... Make it so!
I thought the same thing, lol
Definitely thought this was about Street Fighter(Guile) at first glance.
you Bimmy and Jilly
Double Dragon 2 had supernatural elements with Shadow Bimmy, the Mysterious Warrior and Marian being brought back to life in the NES version.
She was brought back to life in the PC Engine CD version.
Don't forget about Burnov who turn himself disappear when his heath in critical or defeated
I know a guy who made a beat em up without a elevator section, one day him and his work just disappeared, scrubbed from history...
LOL maybe the Superman beat-em-up as he could fly
Confiscated by the feds probly.
It's the same guy that was lured to an abandoned mall by the Beat'em Up Council and pushed down an elevator shaft, as a subtle reminder that beat-em-ups MUST. HAVE. AN. ELEVATOR. SECTION.
The preceding comments were approved by Elevator Vehicle Installers Limited.
I'm probably one of the few who actually liked Double Dragon 3 on NES. The game was hard as heck, but I found it interesting to play as other characters like Chin and Ranzou. I really should give River City Girls a try as I was a big fan of River City Ransom (a.k.a. Street Gangs) growing up.
I actually got good enough to beat it without a game genie.
To be honest, I totally like DD3 on the NES a million times more than the arcade crap. I just thought it was pretty hard to beat, but I did it back then with my brothers.
I love DD3 i beat it once a year as tradition, but you haven’t lived until youve played ultimate double dragon
Dd3 kicked my ass ....
Definitely do yourself a favor and play River City Girls.
I loved this game on the arcades. The huge sprites and punishing animation was impressive.
@ 8:50 Reminds me of Brocken, one of the playable characters from World Heroes...
Combat Tribes IS the real deal! True to better represent the Double Dragon 3 name- the game didn't rely on cheap gimmicks to win its fans...It gave you what you wanted! Co-op action, build up on the beat up mechanics, and 3 on 3 gameplay before we get our beloved 4 on 4 with Turtles/ Ninja Power later! ❤
Played this one ALOT at my local mall's movie theater. This game has it all! I can't think of another brawler with a more detailed, ground game. The ground attacks & blood spurts really impressed me. Always wondered why this game wasn't officially, DD3.
Big Daddy Top Hat once again bringing the brawler content we need!
played Combatribes in arcades many moons ago, had no idea it was connected to the Double Dragon series. Would like to see a video on CrimeFIghters, the Konami 4 player beat-em-up form the late 80's. Not sure it was the first 4 player beat-em-up or not, but was the first I saw. Also Superman had a 2 player beat-em-up no one ever talks about any more that I liked back in the day.
I remember that 4player one very vaguely, but that Superman one. That the one where every few stages was a sidescrolling shooter where player 2 was an all red Superman? Been looking for that one for ages but few ppl seem to remember it exists.
@@Darqueness yeah, the flying scenes became sort of like a shooter in some parts, but most of it was a beat-em-up. Also I don't remember if there was any story for the second Superman as player 2? Have not seen that game anywhere for like 30+ years.
the crime fighters sequel (vendetta) is awesome
DDIII is another one where the JP version is actually easier than the US one. I love both though
Personally i think super double dragon is the best in the series. The counter/blocking mechanic made fighting fun and dynamic something that not to many beatemups did at the time
Fantastic game! I've always thought it a bit too easy though.
return is better but yeah both are my favs in series
Oh god. Combatribes. Aka, the cheater quarter-muncher. Bosses after the second or third level have invincible frames out the ass, and Martha is utterly insane with them. Good beat em up, but... jeez.
SNES port of Martha was pretty cheap too. Spams the same low kick move. Only way I know how to beat her with only one player is to just spam running attacks.
Dude how could you not mention the best part of the snes version. The versus mode let's you play as literally every character, boss, bad guy what have you. We had a lot of fun doing that as kids.
The double dragon 3 NES game is actually kinda good. I remember having fun with it despite how hard it was. But yeah, the combatribes is criminally underrated since not many people know about it and not even know it has a SNES port.
DD3 what made it hard was you had one life per character and start off with one character, not even sure your characters even healed between levels?
@@hepwo91222 yea your health bar did recover after each level. Still hard as all hell though.
I agree. And the Famicom version was a bit fairer to boot. The Arcade and MD versions of DD3 were horrible.
DD3 NES was really really cool. I loved it as a kid. But I hated how hard it was so much that I mainly remember the unfair design, not the great combat, graphics and music.
I never played Combatribes before, but I'll definitely check it out when I can. I think someone could (and definitely should) mod the game to be Double Dragon 3: The Combative Tribes.
Fifth level boss is more Brocken from World Heroes than M. Bison.
Hey Mr top hat. Just to say I watch a fair few of you and your ladies uploads- (not every....) - as for this game- I absolutely adore it's style and thought it's move set quite advanced especially for its time. Great feature squire!
I absolutely love The Combatribes. I had no idea that River City Girls made so many references to the game though! Every single inclusion of it just puts a smile on my face. I also didn't know that this could have been Double Dragon 3, let alone a band new Lee brother for the Dragon Twins. Fantastic video I'm more than glad I found this channel.
Bullova makes a cameo in River City Girls as a shop owner.
Combatribes is a an endless well of fun and arse kicking, especially in 3 player mode .
Good old arcade days...
You’ve got a new mic. Sounding good
i liked both double dragon 3 and combatribes alot. the ending in combatribes where the girl you're trying to rescue turns on you was a trippy twist to the usual beat em up formula
So unlike Bimmy and Jammy, the Combatribes pummeled the baddies so severely that they never returned for once.
You wonder if the death of Marian in “Double Dragon II” led to “Double Dragon III” since they were on a training trip to deal with their grief over that event. Had she not died, there might have been a better storyline for the third game.
Better yet they revived her into a Cyborg who ended up turning into ths final boss
@@Moulin13 I'm more than willing to accept this possible theory
The nes cover of DD3 was absolute 🔥. I remember having my ass beat in the first stage many many times... Looking at that cover dragged me back for more punishment.
Combatribes was a three player game, that could've been the third Double Dragon...
Triple Dragon!
Bimmy&Jimmy for smash like Ice Climbers
I've only ever playd/beat the arcade version of this game on MAME, didn't known SNES version had cut scenes, gotta check that out then. Thanks for the info!
May your top hat ancestors smile upon you gaming man
One of the best things about Combatribes was that you were the big man in the game. All three selectable characters were much bigger than every goon which you throw around like ragdolls and they were even larger than most of the bosses in the game.
I actually liked the nes dd3 back in the day. The ''one life per character'' was a great evolution in my opinion. It forced you to think and attack cautiously instead of button mashing. Every character having their own fighting style and moves gave it a high replayability. Sadly, I always failed against Cleopatra, the final boss, and never saw the ending.
That “ground zero” story line Including the backdrop of the twin towers IS poorly aged. 😮
Talk about coincedence
@@pilot8220 My jaw nearly dropped at hearing that /exact/ name, while the towers were being shown...
I totally forgot about that. Given, that I only played it as a rental in '95-'96...
Also,it wouldn't have really meant anything to anyone,at the time. But,/now/ it's creepy. When,U think about it how it's like a premonition,by someone(seems like TOO much of a coincidence)...
Wow. Why the name "Ground-Zero"? Wait, just thought of something else: What if the person that 1st started calling it that(forget who),had knowledge about this game(either played it or watched it) & it had been in their memory & they subconsciously had it come back to them, when thinking about the towers?? Maybe, that's what happened??
There's scientific data that suggest some things get locked away in our brain unknowingly & only come back out if the right "trigger-event" causes it to return to our awareness. Though, this can mean that we might forget the source. Or,mix-up where we know it from, for an indeterminate amount of time...
Likewise, those with strong memory skills are more likely to recall the source correctly. Though, not all of the data is verifiable at times. So,whatever can't,can only be considered theoretically correct,based-upon associated evidence...
So,it's at least /possible/ someone who first started using that term, might've /actually/ been familiar w/ the SNES version of Combatribes opening! Weird thought,if so(just a possible theory)...
-Peace
@@SB-Out51d3R- I agree with everything you said
@@pilot8220 Wow,Thanks! :)
Yeah,I totally remembered about the stuff where your brain does that, just as I was writing it & thinking,"If not premonition, what else could cause that??" That's when I began to think of something that might be more logical. Or,at least, just as plausible,if nothing else...
I always try to look at things from multiple-angles. So,that I can explain /why/ I'm saying what I do(I've noticed I'm about the only 1 on YT,apparently). As,I often get accused of sounding like I'm seeing it from a narrow perspective,if I don't. Which,I despise it,when ppl think I'm narrow-minded. As,I consider myself /very/ open-minded about most things. However,there are certain things,that I can't help but have a determined opinion of,shaped by what I've experienced. As,we all have,naturally...
So,I do my best to explain myself thoroughly. That way,I can prevent being taken out-of-context,where possible. And,likewise,I want to ensure that it's understood, that I have the knowledge & experience to back-up,what I put forth as info. Since,I want there to be no doubt, that I'm being as honest & open w/ what I know,as possible...
Anyway,I /really/ appreciate what U said. :)
It means a lot to me,to know what others are thinking, about what I post. As,I'm always curious, what the reaction will be. Since,I seldom hear from anyone & when I do,usually it's clear they didn't read what I had to say &/or took me out-of-context(as I mentioned before)...
Anyway,I'm always interested in hearing from others(I'm inherently interested in conversation). So,I enjoy getting replies to comments I post. Although,if antagonistic,I will work to discover the reason why. That,I may be able to "diffuse" a situation before it becomes needlessly aggressive. As,I seek peace/harmony w/ others,as much as possible. Recognizing the inherent benefits of this,out-weigh any that might be had,by the opposite...
Anyway, srry to explain for so long, but in case you're curious about all this,or something...
btw-What's the "82" for? I'm curious,since I was born then...
-Peace! :)
Also, the "Bison looking fella" looks (and is more) like Brokken, the Cyborg Nazi from World Heroes. I mean they're both drawing from the same source, but he's also a cyborg and has the teal color scheme.
I grew up on THE COMBATRIBES way back in the early 90's,they need to ressurect this title
I loved Combatribes!
I used to play Combat Tribes in the arcade every morning before class back in '90-'91. I remember loving the violence in the game bashing enemies heads into one another and repeatedly smashing their faces into the ground. This game had a killer soundtrack too. I really love those '80s and '90s beat em ups.
2:52 To be fair, there were some supernatural elements in 'Double Dragon II', specifically speaking about the last boss: Doppelganger (aka Double Illusion). Let's not also forget the Mysterious Warrior from the same game, who's able to wield magic and create powerful illusions.
Combatribes is a neat game. I superbly enjoy breaking it on arcades :D Yeah, bugs. On the amusing park stage, there is a way you can trigger the boss to go up the ladders while auto going yourself for all the gang is dead. This means you get on the first floor before the boss, and hitting him locks him on place. You can even kill him but you are stuck without advancing. Superb! :D
Classic game, SNES version was great fun in the 2 player VS mode...
I remember when I was a teenager I had to play the Arcade of The Combatribes, it was in high demand and always had people playing it. Since it was a Beat'em up with very good fighting techniques and you had a lot of fun. And also I appreciate that Technos have made an excellent adaptation of the Arcade to SuperNintendo is the same in graphics and game system. The Combatribes is an excellent game !!
To be honest, my first encounter with Double Dragon is the third game from NES. My friend lend me the game pirated Japanese version and I was hooked by the "variety" of gameplay in terms of battle and traversing the stage. I was never exposed to games with such variety by simply using the two A and B buttons (most game I played just had one button for jump and the other for one single type attack, but this game here provide "variety" in terms of how to attack by combination of the arrow key, yeah I know not that much but I was a kid back then...😉). And because it's in Japanese I had no idea what happened or how to properly change character from Billy to the other characters (happened by accident). And I also stumbled upon a "cheat" that allowed me to skip levels so I got to taste and battle all the bosses until the final boss without actually having to painfully play and replay all over again in order to get to the final stage because the game is so difficult.
I loved this video. I saw Combatribes in arcades WAY back in the early 90’s but played it on SNES. I always loved that game. Lots of fun. You just gained yourself a new follower Mr. Top Hat.
Also: I didn’t Double Dragon 3 on the NES was that bad.
I played Combatribes in the arcade and I had the SNES version. I even have a cassette tape of the game's soundtrack! Great memories :)
Wow! Do U remember how U got the soundtrack cassette?? I haven't heard of a soundtrack for a game on cassette, before!
-Peace :)
@@SB-Out51d3R- Sorry about the late response! I don't know how I didn't notice your question. I recorded the Combatribes soundtrack by running my SNES audio into a boombox (I had one that was a similar model to the one seen in the intro for The Fresh Prince of Bel Air) I did this quite often back then :) Again, sorry for my tardiness
I gotta admit, seeing Top Hat's confident face every time pumps me up like yeah, I'm cool too!
The character sprites looks similar to WWF Wrestlefest.
Makes sense, Kishimoto is behind WWF Superstars so all the games are interconnected.
Played this game
MULTIPLE TIMES
both in the arcade and on MAME.
Indeed a classic :)
SUPER 😃!!! Cheers TPGM 🎩🥃!
I love your nod to wrestling gimmicks. That's my favourite part. Plus, as a Canadian I find your British accent hilariously awesome for your character.
I totally forgot about this game. Just seeing this video reminded me all about it. Thanks.
Can't believe you're talking about this...the character select music on SNES is one of my favorite songs from this game... childhood memories
Now thinking of playing this! Thanks for the history of double dragon!👍
The sentence "After Martha was defeated..." makes it sound like the Combatribes had the final showdown at a retirement home. Now I kinda wanna see that.
Speaking of double dragon that just reminded me they actually have a double dragon character coming to the new river city girls 2
in the first rcg billy and jimmie are the heads of the dojos where you learn the moves, and are voiced by the "game grumps" it set the fanservice to 11.
yeah marian is comin to rcg 2
Nice Love this game now. Will definitely be trying it out again.
There were ads for Combatribes featuring a one page comic which ended with Martha asking the main trio "You wouldn't hit a lady, would you?" to which they reply by punching her unconscious.
"Cyborgs ain't ladies!"
I never saw that, but that strikes me as _seriously_ weird, almost to the level of parody. From the very beginning, 1986's Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-Kun (a.k.a. Renegade), Technos has been completely egalitarian about the sexes... i.e. if you decide to mix it up with a hot-blooded brawler, it doesn't matter if you're a girl or a kitten, you get _no_ mercy. Martha, who was literally built for combat and _betrayed_ the Combatribes, should've understood this better than anybody.
I played this before a couple to few months ago. I really enjoyed this way more than what we go in Double Dragon 3. And yeah i can agree there are many better beat em ups like TMNT, Streets of Rage, Final Fight, and even Kunio-kun as well And even tho it wasnt arcade perfect on SNES/Super famicom, i do like that it was still fun to play and the changes did make the game all the more interesting! Its a shame The Combatribes wont make a playable comeback, but im glad to see Arc System Works noticed the cast of the game.
I liked double dragon 3 on the mega drive. Only double dragon i ever played so that might have helped and when turning on extra credits in options its doable :)
I've seen fan made 'Double Dragon 3' games on TH-cam that could silly crush the actual 'Double Dragon 3'.
Absolutely love this game. Thankfully picked up a 3 player cab of this 2 years ago.
Used to play this at the arcade down the street from my house back in 92!
Double Dragon 3 for the NES was a fun game. Too bad the rest of the world couldn't see that. It ranks up there with other games that were awesome, but too hard for the average gamer to enjoy. Actraiser 2 also comes to mind (sigh)
Bro you brought back memories with actraiser 2
@@jemainejones61 Yep, Actraiser 2 was tough. Still a fantastic game.
i remember watching my cousin and my moms boyfriend's son play this on the super nintendo, but i didn't get a turn. i recently played the arcade version, and shortly realized it was where mug smashers got most of their assets.
Ha! You need to run a poll:
1. Comba-tribes
2. CombaT Tribes
I grew up saying it like number one. Still do.
I used to love playing this one in the Timezone in Sydney back in the early 90's as a kid.
I remember playing this in the arcade back in the day (I really sucked at it though)
I didn't think DD3 for the NES was that bad. It wasn't great, but it wasn't as bad as a lot of people make it out to be. I did prefer it over SDD for the SNES though.
Good video though!
I think the best one was Super Double Dragon for the SNES.
I agree 100 percent🤘😎
The Kishimoto you mention is, according to the reliable sources (wikipedia haha), only responsible for producing the Snes version of this game. Nowhere is he mentioned in the arcade game. What became of the devteam of The Combatribes. Some of the producers are very hard to find info on.
Comba"tribes" could have been DDIII. (add DD moves to the sprite sets)
Set scene ...
Billy comes home to find a letter from Marian,
"Billy, throughout the years you and your brother have saved myself and countless others time and again. Even though I've trained with you in order to better myself, I still feel as if I will never be as strong as you or your brother. Now I have made the decision to leave in order to obtain strength so that I will not be a burden to you. You know I love you, respect what you do. I have honored your master's final wish and through that watched you and your brother grow as masters. Now it's my turn. I want to not only be by your side, Billy, but fight beside you also. I need power and I know I will find it. Wait for me, I love you, (signed) Marian."
1 year later...
Word spreads as a new villain starts to take over the city. As Billy, Jimmy and Sonny begin to investigate, they are immediately attacked by a biker gang. As the fight progresses, Billy, Jimmy and Sonny make light work of the MNW gang. Billy walks up to Fats, and asks, "What's going on? Fats respond, "You'll never beat all of us, she'll never let go of this city, Ha, ha, ha, ha!" Billy presses on a pressure point, knocking him out cold. "Whew!" Jimmy exclaimed. "Man, he was so fat, I didn't think that pressure point technique would work on him." Billy raised an eyebrow towards Jimmy, "Enough Jimmy, we need to take this seriously. Whoever their boss is, she needs to be stopped before this gets even more out of control. Sonny, do you have anyone in the underground we can talk to without letting the enemy know we are coming?"
Sonny, seemingly distracted, hangs up his cell phone and turns toward Billy. "Well, what was that about? Billy asks, seemingly mildly irritated. Sonny smirks, looks over at Jimmy. Jimmy and Sonny both smile, with Jimmy raising his hand, giving the thumbs up. "Well Billy, if you must know, that was Roper. Looks like the old Black Warrior gang has been broken and dismantled. Apparently, Abobo and Linda were working the front of Roper's nightclub when a man calling himself Blaster introduced himself before shooting up the place. Unfortunately, Williams was killed in the crossfire. He pushed Linda out of the way and took the brunt of the initial gun fire."
(RING .... RING ..... RING)
Billy and Jimmy both turn and stare intently at Sonny as he picks up the phone. "Roper, what's ...... WAIT, WHAT?! No, please, let me talk to her! Okay, okay, tell me what she said." A moment goes by, both Jimmy and Billy stare intensely as Sony finishes the conversation on the phone. Sonny sighs and immediately steels himself. "Billy, Linda says that she saw Marian with that Blaster guy that shot up the place!" Billy seemingly beside himself, "What?! NO! That's not possible. She left to get stronger, not to come back as a murderer!" Billy then pauses, "Wait, she? Fats said She, right?" Jimmy nods in agreement. "Yea, but it can't be our Marian, bro. I think Linda may have been in a state of shock or something. That doesn't make sense."
"You're right, Jimmy, that can't be Marian. She wants to fight beside me, beside us. She wanted to get stronger. There's no way she would ever .." Before Billy could finish his sentence, Sonny says, "Bro, here's video from the camera right outside the club from a few hours ago. I'm sorry man, here, look for yourself." Sonny tosses the phone to Billy, Jimmy looking over the shoulder of his brother, both of their eye's widen. "Billy, I need you to calm down. Even if this is her, it's not her, and you know it." Jimmy says. Billy's aura begins to show. The crackle of electricity begins to shine brighter, the sound snapping, echoing throughout the alleyway. "Billy breathe! Focus Billy!" Jimmy reaches out for his twin brother's shoulder, and with the connecting touch, the aura of his brother begins to flow through him as well. "Bro, it's okay. We are going to get to the bottom of this. Do not give in to your heart, to your emotions, focus your mind on the task at hand." Billy begins to calm, his brother's words reach his mind and he looks up.
"Jimmy, Sonny, let's put an end to this now. If in the process we discover that it is Marian that we see in this video, we will handle that when it comes, but right now the city and its people need us." Jimmy and Sonny both nod in agreement and walk off into the distance, not knowing how sinister things are about to become.
The one thing I thought was weird was all three characters were over 6 and a half feet tall, but less than 200lbs. They'd be super skinny at that height and weight
Your voice sounds completely different on this video... new mic or sound editing software?
I love youre video and I really happy to watch my Fan art in the minute 5:45
Whats criminal is that there never has been a hack amongst the community naming, rewriting and turning this game into DD3.
Hey, Top Hat Gaming Man! You should definitely do a video on Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game. This game has been re-released recently on modern consoles such as the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One Microsoft Windows, Google Stadia and the Amazon Luna.
I enjoyed DD3 on NES, played it alot with my cousin growing up. It was much better than the shitty arcade and Genesis versions. That queen at the end always kicked our ass with her cheap attacks. We finally got good enough to beat her though! Good times!
DD3 for NES was decent, but it was a BEAST of a game. Technos did the NES version which is miles better than the Arcade/Genesis version.
But Combatribes was definitely a more definitive version of DD3.
Wow I now know the exact inspiration for STREETS OF RAGE
Stage 2 is my favorite! Any game where you get to fuck up some clowns is okay in my book! Its why Batman Returns is one of my favorite games in the genre, as most of the time you're just beating the shit out of clowns. Its great.
New mic? Had some speech therapy or tutorage? And don't think I mean anything negative in that; narration is a key part when 90% of your footage will be gameplay.
Sounds more appealing to me. Thumbs up.
Got a new mic a few months ago, but I also have a cold so am way more raspy lol.
Stern's 1982 arcade game Lost Tomb would long beat Technos to in-game purchases (or "Special Sales" as they called them).
Now it all makes sense. If it's not Technos, it's not Double Dragon
Nice review. I wasn't aware of the history behind DD3 and Combatribes. I also never played Combatribes! I'll check this out now.
I have to agree, this should have been named Double Dragon 3. Plus it was 3 players. It made perfect sense. What were you thinking Taito...
No way! Double Dragon 2. Especially the NES version is the worst in the bunch. DD3 is better than 2. Though, the first one is the best
double dragon 3 nes is awesome 1 of my fav nes games if u learn everybodys strengths on team its a blast all 3 nes games are masterpieces i love the team aspect in 3
The Japanese SNES version had blood in the cutscenes as well. U.S. version was censored a bit.
I will play the combatribes. 😀👍🎮
I always liked Combat Tribes, but thought the style was more Street wrestling, because of the limited left and right areas, instead of the move to the right style DD was known for, I always wondered if this was the reason it was set apart from DD
My kid brain loved double dragon 3.
My adult brain says my kid brain was stupid.
My favourite arcade beat em up. Fantastic game 🙌🏻
Double Dragon III for the Famicom / NES was difficult. I'm not surprised if people got frustrated in the game.
Now you all know where Guile got his hairstyle from.
Your voice sounds different.
Recast Top Hat Gaming Man?
I've been saying Combat Ribes all these years!
I use to say Comba- tribes lol.
@@TopHatGamingManChannel That's how I always said it too
Awesome review 👏
My cousin had double dragon 3 on the NES and I remember we played it to death. It had 2 player coop. It was really a huge step up vs double dragon 1 and 2 on the NES. It was until recently that I learned here on the internet that people claim that Double Dragon 3 was a huge disappointment. I guess that is kind of like when you liked a certain band or song and then others tell you it's pretty bad. Remember this was way way before the internet..so technically you weren't biased for being uncool for liking something.
Wait...hold up....so in localized version of Combatribes, you play as a group of cyborgs created in a lab that are sent to recover a woman who had also been changed into a cyborg by this corporation, apparently against her will since she escaped and gone into hiding. And at the end, you defeat her, carry her back to the lab, and are never heard from again? Are...The Combatribes the bad guys in their own video game?
Learning this at 37🤯
DD3 on NES is my favorite Double Dragon game. Once you figure out moving up and down gets you out of most danger, the game isn't all that difficult.
You should check out the beat'em up game : Fight'N Rage
It's really fun and they do a great job giving nods to beat'em ups for the past
Got to give it up to anybody who acknowledges combattribes
