Ratchet's name was intended to be a reference to Nurse Ratchet and he was supposed to be female. Hasbro and Marvel didn't want to have to explain fembots and scrapped the idea.

They used Hotshot for one scene in Animated and he was the main character of Rescue Bots Academy.
Hotshot is a kid in Rescue bots Academy and the main protag. :)
He's also a character in Transformers Armada.
