Excellent description of the nickname and the watch itself. Seiko throws a beautiful curveball; incredible evolution of the quartz watch... the introduction of the quartz watch to the world in 1969. Appreciate the very good presentation, and to the point. For a man of few words, you come up with all the right words at the right time. I love and hate it, but all the little 'kitsch' touches by Seiko are so cool [Trans: Too cool for school.] Fantastic "word choice" ... as we rehabilitated English teachers used to say. Seiko is messin' with our minds a bit...but with Swiss minds a lot! Great job. Dr. Gary K P.S. Long live asymmetric design to push the mind.
I bought mine brand new in the mid-1970s after graduating from college and working as a computer programmer... I don't remember what I paid for it, but I didn't make a lot of money back then, so it must have been very affordable for me... plus I loved the looks of it. The store that I bought it from, Diamond Wholesale, was located in Warren, Ohio across the street from where I worked... so I would stop in there and browse around on my lunch hour. I wore it for several years... the minute timer hand would move around and not stay in place... I just had it repaired along with a few other watches that I accumulated over the years... always loved the self-wind chronograph watches... seems hard to find good watch repair services locally these days... I found a guy in Texas that repaired it and my other watches. Good to know that the "Bullhead" (I didn't know it was called that !) is such a collectors' timepiece... enjoyed your video !
Being big watch and extremely thick, the Bullhead does sit very nicely for even a small wrist like mine. Amazing! The Japanese, being smaller people, like most Asians, design big watches to fit their small wrist. That's why people are love their divers, in particular.
Love your videos brother. I just picked up one of these in amazing original condition. It will sit proudly next to my 6105-8110 and notch case proof/proof April ‘69 Pogue. Once you get the vintage Seiko bug it bites you hard. I’ve followed you ever since you went on the mission to buy the minty Pogue. Keep up the great work. Peace out from Australia!
great review. agree about the color, to me the charm of the brown is that is very period-specific to when it was released, very 60s/70s, like a root beer rolex, and also goes well with asual clothes that would be worn with it, jeans, khakis, etc.
The Seiko "Bullhead" is simly stratospheric! It's by far the best designed and beautifully crafted bullhead chronograph ever made...! Omega, Breitling, Bulova, Citizen, ecc, they don't even come close to it stylistically speaking...
Your bullhead is still in very good condition. I managed to get hold of one. Condition is not as good as you. Just finished taking video of it just to record it as memory. Will upload the video soon...please give me some support. Thanks.

6138 is an automatic movement, not quartz.

Great watch. I've got the black/navy version. You should get an original crown ;)
Very attractive. It would probably be a summer watch here because of the thick case.
Love your videos, man.
thanks George, much appreciated!
I recently managed to source one of these. Absolutely love wearing it. It may be an old watch but I think its stunning by todays standards.
