Thank you, Matt, for this gift, lending your voice to James'. As I've listened to you this week, my mind kept circling back to something I experienced a few weeks ago. I watched a documentary by Caroline Cory entitled "Superhuman: The Invisible Made Visible". She explores the experiences of individuals with seemingly extra-sensory abilities. Most fascinating was the section that documented the work of some scientists who trained children and visually impaired adults to see through blindfolds. They navigated obstacle courses and read books aloud without light or physical sight being a factor. Since much of what you've been discussing involves perception, and one of the metaphors we use for this is 'seeing', I keep wondering how this phenomenon, if it continues to be consistently demonstrated will shape our philosophical and metaphysical conversations going forward. If we can 'see' without the benefit of light hitting our physical eye---if seeing begins somewhere else---then how does that shape our understanding of consciousness?
Great reading, thanks. Each idea from the human individual perspective is a facet in the mirrorball that is the human race. The more ideas expressed, the more the mirrorball shines like the sun.
