But Flexi cap funds are designed in a way that they outperform nifty benchmarks (most of the time) So, I've found flexi cap funds attractive too.
Personally, I just start another SIP in the same fund. I have found it easier because if I want to lower the amount in the future, I can simply cancel one of the two SIPs I hold.

I have been using ETMoney for a while and have a sizeable amount invested, but the challenge is time and knowledge to manage it, review it, and exiting and investing in new. Sticking to only 2 AMC in Genius is a big blocker. A portion of the portfolio is invested in ICICI Prudential Corporate Bonds which is ranked 7 by ETMoney and 3 star by value research. This portfolio should be built across AMCs and not only select. This limitation of ETMoney genius is not good for investors

Hi. You're likely to find every other person having a different opinion esp. TH-camrs. We say it on the basis of working with lakhs of investors on our platform. Especially for beginners, we will suggest to start off with ELSS or aggressive hybrid so that they start in the green. Don't take more risk than what you have to.

Hello. No. of funds has nothing to do with diversfication - under or over. It's the type of funds that will determine your extent of portfolio overlap. You can use the ET Money app to see your entire portfolio's allocation to different sectors. That would surely be helpful.

Fair point. I personally prefer to add a 2nd scheme because it gives me flexibility of stopping one of the two SIPs if need be. I have done it 2-3 times in the past and while some mutual funds give us a step-up option, they never give a step down option. Particular to your questions: 1. I have never faced a problem with having two SIPs of the same scheme. There are better ways of messing up a portfolio and i have done it all in the past 2. The stepup option has some limitations. Depends from AMC to AMC
I have invested in SIP in direct plans through online platform. The SIP is registered as a biller in my bank. The SIP amt is deducted from my bank on the SIP date, but the fund units are allotted with value date of T+1 or T+2. I spoke to Fund House and they say money was received after 1 or 2 days, hence due to SEBI rule they credit units accordingly. Is this delay in transferring money from bank to Fund house normal? What is causing this?

Rewriting that question: does it make any difference if index funds are from same AMC or different AMCs? Answer: Not much. But if from same AMC, then switching becomes easy and portfolio rebalancing is super efficient

Hi. You're likely to find every other person having a different opinion esp. TH-camrs. We say it on the basis of working with lakhs of investors on our platform. Especially for beginners, we will suggest to start off with ELSS or aggressive hybrid so that they start in the green. Don't take more risk than what you have to.

Hello. No. of funds has nothing to do with diversfication - under or over. It's the type of funds that will determine your extent of portfolio overlap. You can use the ET Money app to see your entire portfolio's allocation to different sectors. That would surely be helpful.

Hi..I recently started investing using ET money app..In case I want to increase the investment in a particular fund(which i am already investing in)without starting a new SIP how long should I wait for the Step up option to get active..will it be active after a quarter or annually?

Fair point. I personally prefer to add a 2nd scheme because it gives me flexibility of stopping one of the two SIPs if need be. I have done it 2-3 times in the past and while some mutual funds give us a step-up option, they never give a step down option.
Particular to your questions:
1. I have never faced a problem with having two SIPs of the same scheme. There are better ways of messing up a portfolio and i have done it all in the past
2. The stepup option has some limitations. Depends from AMC to AMC

I have invested in SIP in direct plans through online platform. The SIP is registered as a biller in my bank. The SIP amt is deducted from my bank on the SIP date, but the fund units are allotted with value date of T+1 or T+2. I spoke to Fund House and they say money was received after 1 or 2 days, hence due to SEBI rule they credit units accordingly. Is this delay in transferring money from bank to Fund house normal? What is causing this?

Answer: Not much. But if from same AMC, then switching becomes easy and portfolio rebalancing is super efficient
