We are spoiled living so close to NAS Pensacola. We can go watch practice during the week. They are awesome. Always enjoy the show. We also catch them on Pensacola beach, now that's a show to see.

my favorite part is when they say "see ya boss" and when the crew cheer them while they are taxiing down!!! OH and i paid for it the next day at work!!!!
I could imagine. My MD pal (kevin colemans brother) told me some unbelievable war stories about his days as an intern, Getting no love or respect and the shittiest jobs imaginable, Oh and hours. Wish I knew why this is part of the MDs protocol. Guess it weeds out the wieners. Even a hard core USMC dude and dudette would say screw this!.

Superb, very cool and very nice video. Been following the Blues since they flew the A-4 Skyhawks. Believe one member of the team of six comes from the Marines. Same as the carriers where the Marine pilots do flight duty.
My question to them would have been whether they anticipate graduating up to Super Hornet models (bigger airframe/bigger engine) in the not to distant future? They usually travel with one extra aircraft as a spare in case of an unexpected mechanical snafu. Beautiful aircraft and color scheme, beautiful flying exhibition, and beautiful photographer.....
I'm so old.. the first time I saw the Blue Angels they were using MD F-4 Phantoms.... Talk about loud!! The A-4's were just as fun and way quiet with no afterburners. When the pilot talked about the F/A-18 being 35... I felt like a very old guy. ouch.
I went over on Thursday morning when they arrived for the media reception. They were pretty strict on only allowing me to photograph the #5 and CDR Weissert. When I finished, I went back to the van and was snapping shots by the terminal. Then the media guy came over and told me to stop. Whoops.
It's probably more of a safety / security thing. I'm sure in the past they've had media guys just start randomly walking around the aircraft and wandering where they shouldn't be. There's always someone to ruin things for everyone else in the future.
I grew up in Crystal River Fl, and would fish out in the Gulf, just out from the power plant. Occasionally F-16's would practice bombing runs on the plant, and would go super sonic out over the Gulf... What a huge thrill!!! For a boy of 14, it couldn't get any better ;-) Glad you had a good time, I went in 03 and had a blast :-) Thanks for taking us along :-)
Its quite difficult to balance my life i'll admit.... and there really isnt a good balance. I usually have to cut out on my personal time or time spent with friends and family.... i mostly work in the medical field and not very proficient in flying. it is a hobby and i fly a few times a month if im lucky!
Sonia, I assumed that your medical practice was very consuming as it takes that kind of dedication to be doctor and watch over your lucky patients. Please be careful with the aviation as your service to mankind is so valuable and you can benefit so many other folks in your life. If you feel a little rusty or unsure with the flying, take a safety pilot with you. You probably have seen statistics regarding Doctors and flying. The Psychologists tell us it is the immortality complex that causes some Doctors to take unnecessary chances. The world needs you so play it safe and enjoy flying...I am an aeronautical engineer, a guidance and navigation systems engineer and test engineer/pilot who has been flying for 50+ years. i have a Pratt powered L29 jet with a glass cockpit and a Cessna 340A with new RAM VII engines. Even at my age, if the weather is going to be really bad, I take a co-pilot and always have a safe "out".
thank you for the kind words! I am still in training as a pilot, and I don't think ill ever stop training to become a better pilot. Same goes with Medicine. I would like to combine the two in the near future to better aid the humankind all over the world.
Sonia, all the that the Blues fly are service life limited, meaning that the airframes are at the end of life. McDonnell Douglas, now Boeing doesn't make parts for the C model them any longer. Typically the Blues show up with 7 aircraft, the seventh as a spare I've been fortunate to have been given VIP access for about a dozen shows in the Mid-Atlantic region. The US Naval Academy gets the flyover for graduation as well some ship commissioning ceremonies. You guys in Florida have Pensacola during the winter months where the team get together for the new year calendar and skills training. There's another 18 group also flying D two seater models with card deck markings on the tail but the name isn't clicking with me. Enjoy the sites, smells and sounds, they're a rush. Oh, also there's a stunt they do like tail walking, but involves the F18 and a P51. I've only seen it once at Willow Grove PA.
everyone always forgets my beloved Marine Corps! comprised of navy and Marines! the Blue Angel that perished last year was a Marine. they are the best demo team in the sky!
I've personally always preferred the Thunderbirds (and the F-16 itself). I've seen them in F-4's and T-38's too. I've seen the BA's in F-4's and A-4's as well.

As a former USAF Thunderbird I have to say that declaring the Blues the best stings a little bit haha.
