Most of them are foreign workers mostly from Thailand & Vietnam who are employed by local employers. So there is a barrier in terms of the local language Malay @ English.Alway support your channel..thanks for the great exploration
Commercial fishing vessels, they go for deep fishing. they'll be on the sea for a month or more. I was from fishing village whereby my dad was commercial fisher( medium size) Experience it. Fun same time bored , those days .... Thanks for brought back my childwood memory. I missed my dad now
love your family and your travelogue, not a tourist you are just a family of travellers. i enjoy your work so much and the bonus with your cute kids ;D
Great vlog, Mr Moonshine. It's only from you that we get to see such scene, the real situation showing how fishermen spend their live on fishing boats. The only obstacle here is language barrier....otherwise it would be interesting to know more from them. Great job, Sir.
From the voices heard (for example at 3:02), they are not local Malays but most likely Thais or Vietnamese - that's also the reason none of them could speak English as you remarked at 5:57. Not unexpected because in the fishing industry, as with other industries in Malaysia, it's very difficult to find locals to do the 3D (difficult, dirty and dangerous) jobs.
Great that you are allowed to film on that big fishing vessel. A good experience for Vincent too. I think whatever catches they brought back were sorted, packed and sent out to bigger towns. Due to language barrier, they just told you "no fish"...😀 Ahaha...cutie Dylan still giving his sweetest smile even though he's in the arm of stranger. Love him so much...🤓😂
Welcome to my hometown Dungun, there's a jetty just 15 minutes walk from this jetty going to Tenggol Island. Tenggol Island is very famous with scuba divers as the corals are so beautiful. The place you guys stay in is the old town of Dungun, there's a new town going downwards towards Paka but the public transport here is not so great. you'll need to book Grab to go anywhere here
What a great experience for both!! Yes indeed privileged to be welcomed onto an actual working fishing vessel!! Dylan is of course a hit everywhere he goes !!
Fishing 🚢 awesome 👌 Life is good but not without journey. OK it was short vedeo but enjoyable guys 👦hey Vince boy your brightness eyes 👀 showing lots things. Bye 👋
Wow! Dungun could be my third home for the last twenty plus years. It's great that you come on board the vessel. I didn't know that the fishermen weren't locals until I heard what they've said. New thing for me, good learning from your vlog.
Wow! What an amazing vlog! Never thought any youtuber will enter a fishing boat before, for content 🤩. You're very lucky sir to be able to enter a boat and show us around🦑🦐⛴. Thank u so much! I really like it. Wish u all the best for your next travel! 😄✌
Absolutely I like your video!! Almost everyday around 8pm, me and my family waiting your new videos! Like the adventures and new experiences you and your family faces.. Please continue explore Malaysia and share with us!!
Very much enjoyed this video! Have a greater appreciation for those who work hard to provide the seafood we enjoy. Enjoyed, too, the father-son relationship. Wonder if Vincent when he grows up will be even more adventurous than his dad?
The things u do Moonshine that not many youtubers do, like doing a vlog on this fisherman's boat here for d world to see .... Good job & good content ....
Nice vlog Moonshine, although it's a strange one, but an interesting one. Love it that you trust the strangers there so much that you let them carry your baby in their arms. Stay safe and enjoy your journey Moonshine. Such an adventurous family you have!
TQ Mr Ian for d unique & offbeaten track Vlog content 👍😊.. Moonshine Swiss family venturing the Dungun fish port & boat.🛥️⛴️🐠 As usual, cute baby Dylan steals the show 😅😊. Vincent also was so enthusiastic with the "exploration" 👍😄. Enjoy your stay in Dungun. 😉👌😊
Pulau Kapas is just near Kuala Terengganu in the town of Marang about 6km to the island.. It's more known with locals bciz not too fancy and cheaper on tight budget where u can just go in the morning and go back in the afternoon..
In 2019, the fisheries department revealed that Malaysia had lost 96% of its demersal fish stock in less than 60 years due to overfishing. Education is needed or there will be no fish for their children.
Why does our government approve permits for foreigners, most of them have sold sea fish to Thai and Vietnamese ships because the price is higher than the Malaysian market
The over fishing is done by illegal vietnamese fishing boat, they fish in our marime area since fishes in Malaysia are in abundance compared to Vietnam sea area. Our reporter has gone undercover in Vietnam only to discover that this activity worth million dollar of losses for Malaysia.
I LIKE IT VERY-VERY MUCH! Thanks to you, I can see what is and how it feel being inside the fisherman's boat. Appreciate them more, its not an easy job! Hope to see more contents like this coming, be it a local profession, culture, foods, places and peoples. Not always about the `mirror' dude! 🤪 Kidding!
Interesting Vlogg Moonshine. Dylan is so cute. Love the moment you captured the memory with Vincent on the boat - father & son in a boat in Kuala Dungun. Btw if you stop in Marang there's where you can take a boat to Pulau Kapas abt half an hour boat ride.
There is another Sungai Dungun located between Kuala Kurau and Bagan Serai in the state of Perak where I used to live there. Kuala Kurau also has mostly Chinese fishing boats, where its river flows passing Sungai Dungun, Bagan Serai, and Parit Buntar in the Kerian District of Perak is about twenty miles from Bagan Serai to Taiping. A tourist taking an express bus should do a stopover for a few days exploring a town(s) on the way to the final destination city.
The four men including the friendly man who carried Dylan at the end of the video were Malaysian (Malay) fishermen. 👌😊. Also the man on the bike who said, "hello boy" to Vincent. Can recognise the Terengganu Malay slang 😄.
11:18 Mukim means sub-district, so its more appropriate to call town instead. Kuala Dungun is kinda rich in heritage and history itself. There used to be a jetty to transport iron ore that's being mined inland in Bukit Besi, some 40km from the town. The remains can be seen from a railway tunnel near the town called Bukit Tebuk. If possible, you may visit Bukit Besi, an old mining town back in those days. Its not really touristy but you can find traces of its history from the ruins of the old iron mine. Theres also a beautiful lake and waterfall there you could visit.
my best sis & my best bro my best grandma queen elizabeth || my niece & nephews are so cute died in age 96 rip 💐 ✝️😢 just because of cpec friendship countries relatives & their connections
It's a good idea if you can speak a little bit of Malay words to communicate with the locals there...otherwise you would not be able to get any stories or respond from them...they could not understand you...and vice versa...unlike Kuala Lumpur almost everybody can understand English...
Very cool on that boat, not a job I could do. Those guys have a hard working life, it makes you realize how lucky we are. As for the baby sharks. They complain about no fish, but if you take babies (and I've seen baby rays as well). Sharks are not sexually mature until over 20 years. These fishermen are killing their own future. It's sad.
There is no benefit for the fish industry in Malaysia if there are too many foreign fishermen, only the fishers are rich, not the local people. The government needs to study not to be so greedy that it destroys the local fish industry
re: too many foreign fishermen The Fishery Dept had tried the Angkatan Nelayan Laut Dalam program but failed. Local fishermen don't want to go even for a 3 day fishing trip. The boats are owned by locals but operated by foreign crews.
Should try Pulau-kapas for sure, that's the place where a British lad back-packer (Mat-Dan) started falling in love head over heels with the state of Terenganu since.. now a celibrity in it's tourism sections.. 😉👌
That is not big time commercial fishing. It's just a medium size 'purse seine fishing boat' or bot pukat jerut (that Ian and son climbed to) and the one next to it is 'fish trap boat' or bot bubu. Both type of boats usually operate 3 nautical miles from the seashore where small-time fishermen operate their 'drift net' or pukat hanyut. Both types also do not harm the seabed or small fishes. You can even call them eco-friendly. The ones that's destroying the seabed and scooping-up all the small fishes is called 'trawler boat' or bot pukat tunda.
Most of them are foreign workers mostly from Thailand & Vietnam who are employed by local employers. So there is a barrier in terms of the local language Malay @ English.Alway support your channel..thanks for the great exploration
Ah no wonder they sound foreign
exactly, if u could speak to them a little bit in malay words it wld be better.
Interesting!
