👍👍Marvelous layout! Great care and fine craftmanship was put into every detail of this model. I can imagen walking down the cobblestone streets, waving at the engineer as the train goes past. Very peaceful and relaxing. Thanks for sharing!🚂🚂
That's awesome to hear Joe! I'm so glad you've been enjoying the videos and hopefully you'll have your own layout soon if not already! Thanks for watching 😃
I really like this one, the early 20th century feel gives it a really pleasant atmosphere. With the LMS boxcabs running about, I'd guess the layout is set sometime in the 1920s or so. Love your videos :)
Yes I'd imagine sometime in the 20s too given the rolling stock. Though with an industrial layout like this I imagine it wouldn't be hard to create similar scenes for various different decades too. Thanks for watching 😃
It's certainly one of the best detailed layout I've seen, you can tell a lot of time and work has gone into this layout and if your a fan of shunting like we are, it's a dream 😀
Yes it's taken years to get it to this standard I believe. Sadly I didn't get to see any shunting at the exhibition but with the amount of tracks all over the place I can imagine there are endless possibilities with a layout like this! Thanks for watching 😃
What a great layout. So much to see and do in that city of industry. Love the horse and buggy theme of this layout. Thank you for sharing it with us. GOD BLESS 🚂💖🚂💖🚂💖🚂💖
Me too! It's hard to see on the video but if you look through the windows of the buildings, some of them have full interiors with lighting too. Thanks for watching 😃
Saw this amazing layout at Pickering Yorkshire last year - incredible details everywhere even the multiple layers of painted background adding a ‘skyline’ 😎👍
Yes I like the backscene too, just giving an impression that there's more buildings beyond while keeping your attention firmly on the scratch built buildings that dominate the layout. Thanks for watching 😃
It was definitely fun to see the trains working their way round the main circuit and disappearing from view between the buildings. Thanks for watching 😃
Yes definitely a great layout to see in person and just shows what can be achieved to such a high standard in a relatively small space for an exhibition layout. Thanks for watching 😃
I seen this layout at model rail Scotland this year I spent ages looking at it and I still feel I didn’t see everything. Outstanding attention to detail!
Gosh, That Model Railway Guy, you really hit the nail on the head with this one. What a superb industrial layout. Even the gloomy, gray backdrops are richly appropriate as opposed to detailed paintings of buildings. If I can find a trackplan, I'll definitely give this a try. What a great home for those Pecketts, Manning Wardles and so on. Even Austerities. Many thanks for posting.
@@ThatModelRailwayGuy Well, TMRG, it took some doing, but I actually did find a trackplan for this outstanding layout, as well as many photos and articles on it. April 2020, Railway Modeller was the source of the plan. It's a perfect hexagon, with one segment for storage. Thanks for sharing your video of it!
I believe they're mountboard structures with plasticard moulded brick cladding over the top but I could be wrong on that. The figures are also made by the creator of the layout too! Thanks for watching 😃
What an incredible layout. I thought for sure that it must be O gauge with that level of fine detail but no! So atmospheric and almost perfect. I need to watch this again I think. 😊✔
Haha, yeah it's definitely 00 Gauge! Just goes to show how including this much detail can really trick the eye into thinking it's a bigger scale. Thanks for watching 😃
Tis a cracking layout, the modelling skill is something to behold.....if I have one gripe (I saw it at Leeds last year) is it's just a little on the clean side
Yes it’s great and others have mentioned how clean it is too. I think it’s down to artistic license personally, the same way the backscene isn’t super realistic but gives an impression. After all if I’d spent thousands of hours hand making all those buildings I wouldn’t be keen on covering them in soot either 😅 thanks for watching 👍
That is a gorgeous industrial layout, you can really tell a lot of work has gone into it! Have you considered doing an updated collection video? I’ve noticed a lot of locos in the background of your videos that you haven’t mentioned before.
I do plan on doing an updated collection video at some point. The main focus is on getting the modular layout finished at the moment so hopefully after that but I may do 009 collection video in the meantime. Thanks for watching 😃
@@ThatModelRailwayGuy oh yeah! That’s more than fair, especially with the exhibition coming up for you! I’m also looking forward to that series coming back, so I’m more than happy to wait to see your collection. Plus, there are a lot of models in the works right now, so they might be out by the time your able to make the video!
I have to admit this was one of the layouts I went to Ally Pally specifically to see this year but I agree, the show overall did feel like it was lacking a big showstopper. Thanks for watching 😃
Wow 🤩 I am especially impressed by the figurines: they are much more detailed than usual. Are they commercially available or are they too scratch built? Great video 👍
I believe they're cast metal figures made by Pete Goss who built the layout, but he does offer them for sale as well if you search for Pete Goss Railway Modelling. Hope that helps and thanks for watching 😃
It's a great layout, but having seen it several times, I still can't make up my mind on its time preiod! Locos are after 1920's, Goods wagons are pre WW1, but the people around the layout are Victorian, plus I live near Burton the buildings are far too clean to me. Its one of them layouts which first Great, but when you see it often you end up thinking its wrong not hitting the right spots! sorry to the builders and operators but it very much missing something, wheather it's grime period operation, or the buildings look right but don't fit in as well as they should plus the locos seam to do the same loops around the track, It's now become a very much walk past for myself and friends at shows
It all comes down to personal preference in the end. I've seen certain layouts at exhibitions that everyone raves about yet I don't feel are particularly inspiring myself. I believe originally the layout was supposed to be Edwardian but I imagine that's flexible for exhibitions to enable more variety and similarly I think the continuous running is to keep the public entertained too. As I mentioned in reply to other comments I get the feeling that the layout should be looked at as an artistic impression of the railway rather than a realistic/accurate scale model. Thanks for watching 😃
Spot on lots going on and liked .Thanks for sharing DD.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching 😃
@@ThatModelRailwayGuy Your welcome.

Absolutely, I agree that a good layout evokes an atmosphere that allows you to easily imagine yourself being a part of! Thanks for watching 🤩
Having grown up in Burton in the 1950s and 1960s, this layout brought back lots of memories. It's a tremendous accomplishment.
It really is a wonderful piece of work/art! Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching 😃
wow, absolutely amazing 😮
It's a great layout isn't it! Thanks for watching 😃
Thank you so much for reviving my passion for modelling railways. Your videos have inspired me. Many thanks again
That's awesome to hear Joe! I'm so glad you've been enjoying the videos and hopefully you'll have your own layout soon if not already! Thanks for watching 😃
One of my favourite layouts du jour. Beautifully captured, cheers chap! 👍
Glad you enjoyed it Andrew - the buildings and attention to detail on this layout is just stunning isn't it! Thanks for watching 😃

I saw this at Sutton Coldfield last Saturday, incredible layout and especially good in the flesh!
Yeah it's brilliant in person and really good to see how neat the layout is to fit so much into a small space. Thanks for watching 😃

great architecture in this one ....very atmospheric !
Yes you can tell a lot of time was spent getting the look and feel of the buildings right! Thank for watching 😃
There’s a lot of love has gone into that layout!
Feels very Edwardian Midlands.
I like how the backdrop has been painted.
Ian
Absolutely, it's got a very distinct style that it pulls off really well and so much of that is down to the attention to detail. Thanks for watching 😃
@@ThatModelRailwayGuy 👍🏼
I love the backdrop on this layout!
It's always nice to see someone trying out something different isn't it! Thanks for watching 😃
What a great layout. So much to see and do in that city of industry. Love the horse and buggy theme of this layout. Thank you for sharing it with us.
GOD BLESS 🚂💖🚂💖🚂💖🚂💖
Yes it really captures the atmosphere really well doesn't it! Thanks for watching 😃
so much detail thanks this makes my day
😀
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching! 😃
I always appreciate the level of detail that goes into layouts like this.
Me too! It's hard to see on the video but if you look through the windows of the buildings, some of them have full interiors with lighting too. Thanks for watching 😃
Had the pleasure of seeing this at the Stafford show last year. I'll happily say the RM article photos simply didn't do it justice!
I definitely agree with you on that one, photos and videos don't compare to seeing it for yourself in person! Thanks for watching 😃

Stunning! Obviously this person has high artistic skills, the shadow outline design for the back drop is brilliant, inspirational!
Definitely and it's such a cool concept to model an entire industrial railway site in a relatively small space. Thanks for watching 😃
Yes I though the shadow buildings were very effective .
Amzing!
It's great isn't it! Thanks for watching 😃
That is a super layout, with very nicely operation, well filmed too.
It was definitely fun to see the trains working their way round the main circuit and disappearing from view between the buildings. Thanks for watching 😃
I actually saw this last year at Scarborough, its amazing how detailed it is in person. Great video!
Yes definitely a great layout to see in person and just shows what can be achieved to such a high standard in a relatively small space for an exhibition layout. Thanks for watching 😃

It looks great - but a bit clean. Shouldn't all that brickwork look a bit more stained?
Perhaps... but I think there's a certain amount of artistic license that has to be accounted for as well. Thanks for watching 😃

also some Dapol figures .
