Hugo is the BEST story teller I know and you should see him squirm when I ruin his story by revealing the ending to the story in the first few minutes, haaaa. I'm trained to be more patient now and enjoy his artful ways. Thank you for your reply, ~Sonya

I want to age like Hugo. The man has aged like fine wine. The passion, the zest, the charisma, the charm, the hairstyle, the style and the honesty... I mean, I can go on and on...
And Sonya, his beautiful and loving wife for honouring him and always supporting and helping him in his sartorial journey. She is the epitome of a great wife. She is so compassionate, modest, charming, passionate...And again I go on and on...
That’s what a man looks for in his wife.
I pray to God to bless me with a wife like her. 😇
God bless you guys. Keep inspiring and keep educating us.

You're spot on about what qualifies a woman to speak on men's fashion because a BIG reason "most" men (without getting into the whole sexual identity discussion) "dress up" or try to elevate their style is for female attention. Good talk!

Its so easy to see why Sonia and Hugo make THE perfect couple. Their banter is so fun to watch! Learning about fashion is a great big bonus! Omg the whole active suit buttons just blew my mind, the funny thing is, its so LOGICAL! (Sorry Sonia, i think i'm with Hugo on the washing of hands reasoning). The last question is where you can see the Love and Pride that Hugo has for his beautiful and knowledgeable wife Sonia.. Truly a great video to watch, learn and be inspired! Thank you Hugo and Sonia!

I think the last topic is exactly what's wrong with many men who think about fashion. I think it's fantastic to see Sonya involved in this project. I always think that my female friends can give me much better feedback on what looks good on me. Most women have keener eyes for texture and colors than men in my own experience. The female voice is absolutely needed. Thanks for addressing this topic so firmly, Hugo. It's important for men like Hugo to speak up on this because the women speaking up on this topic is just not enough. Thanks for the excellent video.

Really enjoyed this information. I am a 6'tall female, usa, and I 'hunt' for 34" length wool or cashmere blazers jackets in pristine condition and then shorten the sleeves for myself. I find them in thrift shops, online. Leaving the buttons open, pushing the sleeve up, I like that look. I updated my shoe wardrobe also.

Your answer on the importance of shoes, blowed me away.
I have only 1 pair of 'real' shoes. It's a derby shoe by Paraboot.
It's not a fancy shoe, it's not a high end shoe, but it is handmade quality.
Every time I wear them, wich is almost every workday, I feel stronger, more professional, more competent and more proud of my self.

My understanding is that the term surgical cuff is a nod to victorian surgeons. Aseptic technique was not even thought about in these days hence one should look elegant while operating. Lister is credited for aseptic surgery 1867 after publishing his discovery in the Lancet. Remember in these days the surgical theatre was literally a theatre where on the banked sides of the room people could watch the surgeon operate on patients. Cheers

    • @jordanlazaro1676
      @jordanlazaro1676 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Yup. And back then, surgeons were referred to as Mr or Mrs, not doctor. The reason was because being a surgeon was originally a trade that one would learn and it was a "lesser trade" that illiterate would occupy as a job. Till this day, some surgeons in the UK who want to pay homage to the humble roots of surgery still refer themselves to as Mr and Mrs.

SARTORIAL TALKS - please excuse the poor spelling, I blame it all on the IPhone! Oh Ashley has her husband assist her on her channel. It is cool to watch them work together! I try to learn from a wide source of people in the clothing field as I need to dress for construction work- sometimes in the field and sometimes dealing with architects. I go to biker bars and also to upscale boutique hotels and go hear jazz bands. I have been to opera and ballet, and sometimes go to see cars at the dirt track. Some days I go visit bankers and tax advisors so I am all over the spectrum! Keep up the great work!

I have too heard that surgeons needed to unbutton their jackets, however, those were military/field surgeons wearing military uniforms, on which a modern men’s suit is based.

This is a great podcast. I'll start checking in every one I can. I love the information, the intuition, the balanced gender perspectives, and I also felt the love between you both. Keep up the good work. I'm gonna add this video back to my "watch later" list because I need to see the full episode. I'm at work right now watching illegally, so I need to stop that.

We have paintings of 19th century surgeons operating in suit. It was common as being a doctor was prestigious, and as there was no ascepcy. I remember a painting of Henri Gervex showing a surgeon in suit behind a sleeping woman.

Dear T, Sometimes we substitute a small towel in place of shoe trees to accomplish the same purpose, when trees are not possible. This alternative option "seems to have a similar effect" to absorb moisture and maintain the shape of the shoe. Cheers, Hugo

Sonjas jacket here is wonderful and yes, the shoes is the most important part of a mans looks. The shoes tell a lot. He can wear a pair of jeans and then a pair of leather sole, good shoes. The shoes is the number 1. At 20 min, Hugo sais: ''shoes are the foundation of style'' - absolutely true!

Re shoe trees : I've heard many people saying you need to leave the shoes to air out for an hour before putting the shoe trees in, so apparently I have been following wrong instructions the whole time 🤦‍♂️ (and I usually forget to put them in because of this instruction).
I really enjoy this new format - feels like a casual talk at a tavern after dinner. Wish I could grow old with my girlfriend and has a relationship like you two's.
Also Lol at Hugo's extended overreaction on the last question. Anyone who doubts Sonya surely hasn't seen her in a suit or listened to her for more than a minute, there is really no use in addressing them.
