      Hi Gordon.
      Thank you so much for your kind comment. 😊
      Yeah, they local lads have been telling me to go back to wooden pots, and this is my 1st attempt.
      Not made any since the 80's until this batch.
      It will be interesting to see the difference between the metal and the wood. 🙈🤞🦞🦞🦞🦞🦀🦀🦀😁👌
      Hope you have a lovely weekend, bud
      All the very best.😊

      Hi Anne.
      Thank you so much for your kind comment and, as always, your continued support 🥰😁👌
      Lugging these big metal creels about does take wear and tear on the body, as I found out last week.
      I have done myself a bit of damage and had to sit most of this week out to recover 🙈🙄 I guess I'm just getting older. I'm not as young as my mind thinks it is.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
      Our bait is usually what our buyer can get his hands on, which at the minute is frozen herring. Other times, it's mackerel.
      But you can never beat fresh bait direct from the trawl boats, it's just a shame we have only 3 trawl boats left at Dunbar, so fresh bait is like gold dust.😞
      I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend.
      All the very best.😊

    HI Barry been following your blogs for a while very educational. Bought myself a boat been waiting 5 months for m c a to inspect it it's like they just want you to spend money on courses but dont want you to work.

      Hi Alan.
      Thank you so much for your comment and support.
      I'm so sorry about the MCA. They don't seem to realise the stress and strain they are putting on everyone with their ridiculous one size fits all inspectons just now...it's absolutely disgusting 😡😡😡
      I believe there will be a Rd show happening soon, personally I'm going to speak my mind and give them solutions they seem to be clueless about....let's hope we can get a better foot forward for all the industry 😍😁👌
      Good luck with your new boat, I hope you get a result soon.💪😉👍

      Hi buddy.
      How's the holiday going?
      I have all different types bud, hard eyes, soft eyes, and 1 fleet has both.
      I'm tempted to do my big parlour fleet with both, too.🤔🤔🤔
      1st I suppose I best see how the ones soaking fish, before I make up my mind.😁👌
      All the best, buddy.
      Hope you both have a fantastic time away 😉👍

    • @onemanandhisboat
      @onemanandhisboat  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi bud.
      All that's in the plans. But unfortunately that won't be filmed until the winter, as we are concentrating on getting more gear built up for the LynseyB 1st, and it all seriously takes a heck of a lot of time, to produce, film, and edit these vlogs, on top of working.
      So please bear with us. We will get the how-to vlogs done for the beginning of next year😉👍
      Blue netting is from Class supplies.😁👌
      I hope that helps lobsterman. ( Great name, by the way)
      All the best.😊

    Hi Barry, loving the videos as always, keep up the great work :-) I notice the new wooden creels are 2 eyed (without a parlour) versus the single eyed parlour steel creels. What’s the pros and cons of each?

    • @onemanandhisboat
      @onemanandhisboat  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Derek.
      That is a very good question.
      The twin eye'd creel has to be pulled every day in order to get full value of the catch as over time, the lobsters etc can get out quicker than they can do from a single eye'd parlour.
      As time goes on, I'll pass on more info on what works best, as I still have a BIG parlour fleet to go in, too.
      So I guess we shall see what fishes best, a single eye, a twin eye, or a big twin eye parlour. 😁👌
      I hope that makes sense, bud🤷‍♂️
      If it does, do you mind explaining it to me.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
      Still not seen the fella who might know a good outboard engineer.
      I think he has fallen into the twilight zone.🤣🤣🤣🤣
      Enjoy the rest of your evening, bud.
      All the best😊

      @@onemanandhisboat Thanks Barry, I thought that was the case. As a pleasure fisherman who takes the odd lobbie from the commercial guys :-) I don’t get out every day so thought the parlors would be most useful for me. Currently as happy as a pig in the proverbial this evening building some single eyed parkour’s in the garage :-)

    Must be nice to work light gear, if they arent 15+ kg a pot they roll in the tide here. I bought some of them plastic amble pot frames, they were only £13 each at the time, put 12kg of sash weights in them and they rolled, I had to concrete the bottoms in the end.

    • @onemanandhisboat
      @onemanandhisboat  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi buddy.
      Yeah, we have had the amble pots in the past, bud, and we had to go with the concrete as well. The sash weights were just too light to get them through the tangle roots.
      I'll be doing a small experiment with an up and coming vlog on OMAHB with weigh of the gear.😁
      As I I'm getting older, I need to figure out something to work the fishing better for me in my older age, so hence why I'm giving the wee creels a try.😁👌
      Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend.
      Thank you for commenting

      @@onemanandhisboat you have to try different ways to make your life easier. How did you get on with the amble pots? I see you arent using them now?

    • @onemanandhisboat
      @onemanandhisboat  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The only way forward is a different type/ size of pot, and then see how we fair after a season or 2.
      The amble pots were from years ago bud, when they 1st come out £5 per pot!😲😲😲 long time ago that was.🤣🤣🤣🤣😉👍

    Hi Mate, I work a gm19 single handed when stacking gear on I drop all my pots down first on the crane and stack them, then pull the back rope down and splice it in as I go. Saves having to haul the pots in by hand or going up and down ladders a thousand times

      Hi Will
      Thank you for your comment and suggestion.
      It's funny how so many fishermen up and down the country have their own wee ways of doing things.
      It is actually amazing to learn how other folks tackle the same problem differently.
      I'll give that go for our next set of fleets.😁👌
      Stay safe and profitable fishing.🦞🦀😁👌
