    Bless you! Energy and healing vibes coming your way for a continued and sustained recovery. THANK YOU for continuing to share your knowledge about plant propagation. You inspired me to try to grow cyclamen from seed. I’ll let you know how it goes. Love your tutorials!

    I hope you are continuing to work on getting the nursery pruned back and into shape. That should give you something to focus on and that focus will hopefully improve your clarity longer term. I'm sure all those beautiful cyclamen are waiting for you to come back and rescue them. Wishing you a stable and happy future.

    Hi robby, PhD Biologist here. Ferns are indeed weird. You mean gametophytes 😊 Soon you should get the sporophyte and first leaf. Tnx for the tip and good luck with your greenhouse and take care.

      Hi, can you please tell me how long it approximately takes for gametophytes to fertilize and grow the sporophytes?
      I sowed spores in August 23, and got Prothallium around Oktober... How much longer?

    You always make me smile Robbie and with that you also help me in dealing with my intense physical pain every day. Bumping up and down but continously coming back to being amazed by the beauty of nature.

    A pleasant surprise to see this video, and awesome to see you - I do remember from previous updates, but hopefully you're feeling better every day, and that as many of the little ferns as possible continue to develop nicely. ^^

      Thanks Sleepy Panda, thanks also for all your messages of support, it really does make a difference, sorry I haven’t answered them all. I’m definitely on the mend but it’s three steps forward and two back at the moment. Still fighting though, still breathing, so surrender is not in sight! Hopefully start posting regularly about propagation and nature soon. All the very best Robbie 🌻

    First time propagating fern spores and I definitely used too many spores when I initially sowed them. Container is full to the brim with a mossy green carpet, can’t see any soil. I worry the overcrowding is going to mess with their development. It’s only been about a month or two since I initially sowed and they’re still only gametophytes, individually still very small, only just starting to put out those heart shaped “leaves”. Should I try and separate some of the clumps into another growing container or is it too early?

      Hi @lynjubrail6646, thanks, I’m definitely trying not to stress too much, but the ‘it takes time’ is the reality that I struggle with most! You are absolutely right, time is important to healing, thanks for the reminder, I’m quite an ambitious soul so patience is something I’m working on! Thanks again Robbie 🌻

    Can you tell us more about your soil medium? What medium are you using? It doesn’t look like potting mix?

    • @stinkyditchnursery750
      @stinkyditchnursery750  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Peter, I used a cheap multi purpose compost, it had quite a few big bits of detritus in it that I removed. It’s done the trick. I have them growing naturally under some racking in the shady part of my greenhouse. There they seem enjoy the damp gravel. I’m going to start some more off soon and try some different growing mediums. I hope this helps, all the best Robbie 🌻

    Hi Robbie
    I was just wondering about the sterilisation of compost. Does commercial compost still need to be sterilised

  • @nickfairbrother5974
    @nickfairbrother5974 ปีที่แล้ว

    what water do you use if it has to be sterile. Thanks for the videos 🙂

    • @stinkyditchnursery750
      @stinkyditchnursery750  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Nick, I sterilise water by just boiling it in the kettle and letting it cool down completely, I hope this helps, Robbie 🌻
