I don't care what anyone says. The hobbit movies were good, at least for me. Its adventurous, its middle earth, lighthearted, funny and well... bilbo. I watched it as a child and it still hits with the nostalgia for me.
I love how in lord of the ring Gandalf says : "I only have your uncle a nudge out the door" like ok you totally didn't throw a dwarf rave at his house without his knowledge or permission
I only just finished rereading the book (first read it when I was in primary school) and literally Bilbo wanting to go home to his armchair and tea every two minutes is such a MOOD, probably the only protagonists to genuinely not have a not-like-others hero complex
I remember reading it and it always said " he thought he wanted to go to his armchair for not the last time" I always thought would there ever be a last time?
And you know what shows how great of an actor he is? His facial impression technically barely changes, barely moves. But that slight change of the look changes the whole mood. . Like the ending of Captain America Civil War. When Freeman's character mocking Zemo locked up, and Zemo make him doubt the reason. That moment is the perfect example the the smile froze on the face phrase.
Because he is. I’m fully convinced they just don’t give him a script at all. They just dress him up and send him on set where he just has to guess what the fuck is going on through the lines of other characters and context.
I cannot believe I've only just found this, it's amazing, the exact Hobbit content I need. I need to rewatch the movies just focusing on Bilbo, I missed a lot of stuff apparently xD
@Strawberry Orphan welp, I just respect Tolkien's works. I read the Lotr trilogy, Silmarillion and am currently reading The Fall of Gondolin. It is hard to look at something like this when you know the books and respect the author. The Hobbit movies aren't even canon, but it still kinda hurts
@Strawberry Orphan No I agree with them. Unnecessary shipping is often irritating to people who just wish to enjoy Tolkien's work as the masterpiece that it is already. Respect the craft without making it weird and sexual..
People can say what they will, but these movies were great. I even read the book, and I have got to say, I appreciate the new connections to LOTR made in the films. In the book, you can definitely tell it was initially meant to be its own thing.
The dwarves invading his house and Bilbo putting up with it was the reason I loved The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey so much. It was hilarious and Bilbo Baggins became my favorite character since then.
Yes! Martin Freeman. He’s also John Watson in Sherlock BBC, Tim from The Office UK, Arthur from Hitchhiker:guide to the Galaxy, and more iconic characters :))
Bilbo was a mood throughout the entire movie thrilogy 😂❤ I can't believe how a man (hobbit) can be such a lucky and unlucky mofo at the same time Loved Bilbo and The Hobbit. No one could play him better than mr Martin
1:27 Bilbo Baggins internal panic attacks are me when my Autism get triggers by unexpected family visitations (they just come in without saying anything). I could relate to Bilbos' concerns and panics so much.... both in the film and the book. I have that expressive face too... could go from "Yummy" to "Who the f*** is knocking at this wee-hour of supper time?" in a few seconds.🤣💀

One of my favourite moments has to be- Thranduil: "If I am not mistaken, this is the halfling who stole the keys to my dungeons under the nose of my guards" Bilbo: ".... yesh... sorry about that" *Awkward silence Bilbo: *changes subject-
Bilbo is this odd mixture of cute and kind of sexy. Like I simultaneously want to pick him up and squeeze him but also date him. If that’s odd, then I’m just odd.
If you think about it they actually did Bilbo a huge favor because all his food would have been rotting for weeks in his house. Since they ate it all up, no reason not to go on an adventure
I don't care what anyone says. The hobbit movies were good, at least for me. Its adventurous, its middle earth, lighthearted, funny and well... bilbo. I watched it as a child and it still hits with the nostalgia for me.
Same it's one of the best movies I have ever seen, it's got everything !
The Hobbit was definitely more suited to kids and was more lighthearted overall than LOTR
Finally I see someone who think the same I enjoyed both sagas
Like the books 😊❤️
Highly agreed! They are a bit questionable when it comes to book accuracy but I love them nonetheless
He is a lot more moody in the movie than the book
Director: “here are your lines, Bilbo”
Bilbo: “Oh, my Li-“
Lines: **VISIBLE CONFUSION**
Plz, I’m dying 😭
@@heyhumansc9922 you are not the only one 🤣🤣🤣
the way his name isn't even Martin Freeman, it's just Bilbo, lol

oh, I think Bilbo knew. too late, but he knew
Yeah
Y'all realised the profile pics.
It was slightly less rambunctious in the book.
But only slightly
His acting is soooo good
Amazing how Martin doesnt have back problems after carrying the Hobbit saga like he did..
AMEN
Legolas and Gandalf didn't hurt either.
@EpsilonGoods Well, Gandalf WAS barely involved.
Tbh he is the most annoying thing for me. Or as much as the dwarf/elve love nonsense, atleast.
@@kaiderhai86 what????? How is he annoying
The Hobbit may have had flaws but he was the perfect Bilbo.
Agreed, my only criticism is that some of the writing is a bit wonky, which is not Freeman’s fault.

you dare interrupt dinner?!
And you know what shows how great of an actor he is? His facial impression technically barely changes, barely moves. But that slight change of the look changes the whole mood.

Like the ending of Captain America Civil War. When Freeman's character mocking Zemo locked up, and Zemo make him doubt the reason. That moment is the perfect example the the smile froze on the face phrase.
And that's why he's the perfect person to play Bilbo.
Loll
Introverts when someone knocks at the door.
The amount of flabergasted stuttering this man does just amuzes the heck out of me
idc if it’s been three years… i agree *STRONGLY*
Bilbo has 3 moods:
-*visible confusion*
- ohhhh shit what now?!
- why am i here
Perfect 😂
peter jackson: just look around like you have no idea what in the bloody hell is going on, okay?
"wdym?"
"exactly"
Praise to bilbos patience but if anyone shows up at my house and eat my cheese I'm putting the cheese knife to better use.
Casting Martin Freeman as Bilbo was absolute best thing about the Hobbit movies.
Why is Martin Freeman always so confused and unaware of whats going on in every role he plays
Because he is. I’m fully convinced they just don’t give him a script at all. They just dress him up and send him on set where he just has to guess what the fuck is going on through the lines of other characters and context.
@@FoxNHound he has truly mastered the confused acting style form
@@FoxNHoundhonestly it fucking works
I would have murdered someone XD Bilbo has the patience of a saint!

I commented something similar. Hes so cute but so handsome too 🧐
4:54 He's so small, I can't 😭💕
He’s always have a “I’m so done” look on his face 🤣

There’s just something about Bilbo that makes him one of the most adorable characters ☺️
Bilbo the whole movie: 👁👄👁
