    Nice piece Mike. Your design most certainly made the most of that Norfolk Pine blank. The wee cove tool may have perhaps made shaping of the inside and outside of the neck, fearless. However no mishaps with the small detail gouge. Well done. Some edge of the seat moments for nervous viewers though :-)
    Thanks again.

    What a cool piece of wood in the hands of a craftsman! I remember much smaller NIP as dorm room plants. Never thought I would see a chunk that size. Great video.

    Thanks for video, really liked the way you re-defined the turning as you turned it. Thanks again

    What a magnificent piece of wood! I very much appreciated/enjoyed your commentary of the evolution of your design. I'm still very much a noob and this helps me to understand the process much better.

    When I saw the picture in my TH-cam feed I thought you’d got into colouring wood. It looks amazing and the shape you chose works really well. I think the only change I would make is the possible addition of a ring of sapeale, or other red wood, for the opening of the vessel to compliment the red of the knots.
    I’m now going to have to try and hunt some of that pine down and try it for myself.
    All the best from the UK.

      No, it was green. Turning green is easier on the tools, lungs and just more fun.

    Hi Mike -- very nice piece.
    I note that you have a threaded tool rest. I do not know if you have a video on this - but I would be very interested in your comments or tips on the use, ease or application on this product. If you have a video on this or one in the future it would be good to view and learn.
    Thanks

    Nice piece that Norfolk Island Pine. The blue/gray fungal staining didn't detract from the vessel at all.
    Suggestion: Make a 15 second end screen for your channel and put your end cards there rather than cluttering up the content video.
    Cheer,

    Nice job Mike! No one wants to say anything about how terrible this wood is to turn green. It oozes out lots of sticky sap shortly after cutting the tree down and into usable pieces.

    • @MikePeaceWoodturning
      @MikePeaceWoodturning  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am assuming the wood was green since the pith was in it and it did not crack. I did not see any sap.

      Thank you for your service. Sorry you feel that way. I think repurposing something that would otherwise go into a landfill is not a bad thing. As a retired LTC I feel entitled to say get over it soldier!
