Santos Dummont receives a lot of daily flights, so it is pretty busy. Being free of accidents for so long proves it's operation has been very safe.
yeh, and to be able to land there u gotta have a certification and only the captain lands. and landing there is such an experience! it really looks like u are gonna land in water
Not that busy really, but is awesome to get out of the airport and be in downtown Rio de Janeiro.
@@DanielNeres a few of years ago there were planes landing and taking-off non-stop. Today it's probably not as busy, but it once was, proving that it is very safe, even with high demand.

Fun facts: this airport can only be operated by airplanes with 2 capitains, never with a copilot and they are payed sometimes more than an international pilot just to have The license to operate there. Another thing, when the737's started operating there, the most exerienced pilot overun the runway, as they were used to fly the Lockheed electra 2 before.
Actually, normal first officers operates there, but they can’t operate as pilot flying, only as monitoring.
@@gabrielbadarozambolim4342 That acctualy depends on the type of aircraft, for example, in the ATR-72, the first officer can land in the airport.

Santos Dumont Airport, it’s is similar to LCY Airport but with 2 short runways and of course it’s built nearby water. Thanks to connecting the city of Rio de Janeiro in able to make this airport becoming one of the most special airport in Brazil.

Santos Dumont is the most beautiful airport in the world!🇧🇷
It is quite amazing! Another good airport is Castlegar (CYCG). It is in the middle of the mountains, has a 1615 meter (5300 feet) runway, and stunning approaches close to the mountains. CP air used to fly 737's into there, but that airline is defunct now. Nowadays, Air Canada operates Q400's into there, but they are commonly canceled due to bad weather, which is why some people call it "Cancelgar".

i live in Brazil and i dont live in Rio de Janeiro but i know that the Santos Dumont is a very busy airport and wen you land there you can feel the braikin of the aircraft, and the "airport" is tring to increse the runway and put EMAS at the end of the runway
