Chapters:
I'll still always be a fan of "Oops all Orrus." Having three in the end was lots of fun.
Would be funny if you end up with 5 via terrorlevel.
Regarding the Hunt Master, the idea is that you use one of the normal bodies with your choice of weapons.
The Hunt Master is in the 4 model box. You get 1 Yeld, 1 Jakara, 1 Malcadon and 1 Hunt Master.
Perfect timing. I just finished painting up my full set of Spyrers: both Orrus and the four hunters.
My buddy and I just bought the big box because he liked the stealers. I happily took the high-tech hunters now I am 40 years old and have been playing games workshop games since I was 13 years old, but these guys seem like a tough gang to start with. So I really enjoy these rundowns. Thank you.
There's a couple interesting moves I see with the Spyrers:
1/ "Laser Curtain" The Jakara Huntmaster moves into the open against 4 gangers, using his shield and wounds to help for survivabilty, then has a Yeld fly slightly behind him. When the Yeld activates both of its laser gauntlets with Fast Shot skill it can take 4x rapid fire shots potentially at 4 targets. That's 4-24 shots at one enemy ganger. If the Yeld is able to drop the 4 kills and the Huntsmaster has the Leader Skill that means the Yeld could gain 8 XP.
One variant: is to use an Orrus as a curtain instead and place two Yelds behind him. Have him move aside, then have both Yelds Fast Shot 4x each Rapid Fire.
2/ "Crane carries the Baby" A Malcadon activates for a Run from behind a building, has Fast Shot skill and rapid fires 2x against two gangers that get webbed. A Yeld is able to fly from behind a building using sprint/Run/move to Coupe de Grace both downed fighters. Could be good against high toughness targets?
One thing I think is overlooked with the augments is that if I’m not mistaken you have to score an average of 12 Kill tally for EACH one, since there’s a 2 in 6 chance to get ONE augment when you complete a kill tally.
So you can coo at all the shiny level 3 upgrades, but your operative has got to play enough games without getting shrekt to kill an average of 36 enemies for each level 3 so you will not be getting many of those!
Here's to hoping they cover hall of ancestors next, my boys the ironhead prospectors
They just announced that Squats are getting their own book! So unfortunately we'll be waiting for that to release to cover them in full. Doesn't make sense to cover them now and just have to put out an addendum later.
Grumble grumble the dam Swuats are going to be better shooty and tech gang that Van saar
The Hunt Muster can take UP to two weapon options
So You can take an Orrus for 350, a Hunt Master with a Yeld missile Launcher only for 210, and have still 440 credits left for..... Another 2 Yeld
You can then add a Jakara because of Terror Level and another Orrus with Terror Level and Upgrade the Hunt Master with a melee weapon and the Orrus to get the Fists on Downtime
There's three appealing ways to build a hunts master:
1/ Shooty Master: Mirror shield, Yeld Rocket, shooting skill, spend the upgrade on the rocket. 4x shots with two activations with Fast Shot skill. Run him w/ Caryatid for ammo check on rockets.
2/ Jakara CC Master: Mirror Shield, Naga Blade, spend upgrade on suit at start. This gives you 3attacks @ 6Strength and increases your armor save from shield. Would be nice to add Evade to this one, but dont think you can.
3/ Malcadon/Jakara master: upgrade suit, Malcadon claw S4 w/drop rig grapnel and the Naga Blade for S6 and high maneuvarbility. 5 attacks on charge. 2 attacks anti armor, 3 attacks anti toughness. Great at killing Champs for that +2xp terror.
You missed the web incisor upgrades which make them alot more interesting especially combined with shooting skills or overwatch on a infiltrating models.
Double activation also means they can then auto take out a webbed model.
Couldn't you use shooting skills twice on the Malcadon but then use a high speed Yeld to Coup de Grace both webbed fighters?
I wonder if the schedule might be a bit silly, just in the context of releasing and discussing information that is going to go out of date very soon, as the squats get their own house book. Might make more sense to cover ash wastes, regular genestealer gangs or helot chaos cults
We recorded this episode before the news dropped so we're changing it up a bit!
and another good thing about glitches, all are convalescence, not in recovery, so they are always going to play the next battle.
You might wanna hold off on the squats - now that GW has preview their "House of" book.
That is the plan. We recorded this before the article dropped.
@@miniaturesrundown Figured as much. I was holding my breath tho - hoping you had just received an advance copy or something
So some extra bonuses not many people think about. If you get a decentish early start this gang can become extremely powerful. I know that applies to most gangs BUT the smaller amount of units means your XP is concentrated so your guys can often advance so quickly. Especially if you win the match and get that bonus 2xp for everyone.
But... the negative. Any win against you is just your opponent being awesome. Any loss is "Fucking Spyrers". They'll complain constantly because they don't compensate properly to handle you.
I’m halfway through a campaign right now with the spyre hunters, they have a massive learning curve. I took an Orrus because I love the mini, don’t, just don’t. Going from 8 activations to 6 and losing that board presence is so massive.
Second the most important thing, even more important then kills is trying to inhibit other people from getting creds and territories. Once they start buying lascannons your expensive guys are just a liability
To me this is where the Malcadon stealth abilities and yeld high movement will keep them out of line of sight.
Waiting for regular Genestealer gang. As for me, they have the best exotic beast so far... (Never played them or against em tho)
I just wonder what they were thinking when they put 2 Orrus in the Hive Secundus box. It's not like you are ever going to use 2 of them in the same gang.
I just made one with the power claws and one with the power fists.
Start your gang with Orrus with claws then recruit Orrus with fists at terror level
Because in the box campain you must use one as lider, and one may come from "Hunters Hunted" territories, and box include all need models
Because they have plastic toys that they need your bank account emptied for.
yeah, it is a really dumb choice from a players' perspective, but it justifies a higher box price. Same as the Ambot - why on earth would anyone choose to buy two at a time?
One the territory boons in the Hive Secondus campaign is getting a second Orrus to join for a mission so you may possibly need the second Orrus.
I'd be more interested in an early/mid game analysis on which spyrers were good with only one or two augments, rather than looking at them fully upgraded
because "sidearm", orrus can use "two gun blaze" rule and gunfighter skill
Well.. if you're forced to do 3 models if you take a single Orrus, why not take two haha
For the love of God, could some one PLEASE explain in detail how the Yeld "fly" rules work in detail? What does "ignores ALL terrain" actually mean? What does "may move freely between all levels" actually means?
Exactly what it says you can fly over terrain and move up and down your full movement.i know things can kind of be worded weird.but this one is fairly straight forward.
Basically if you decided to Run, 7" becomes 14". So you could be standing near the base of a platform tower, move straight up 11" and then 3" inwards off the edge. Then shoot on the second activation against an enemy sniper on another tower.
Oddly, enforcers actually do reasonably well against spyrers - the key is concussion carbines and then application of photon flash and, especially, magnacles. Some of these spyrers running round with S3 gonna be out of action with space cuffs applied 👮🏻♂️

That’s pretty funny. “okay kids, playtimes over, we’re sending you back to the spire”
