Fantastic it’s a great show. I’ve got a video to edit this week so il try and get it on for Sunday. It’s a classic bike hill climb and there’s a few of these bikes at the show competing. 🏍️💨💨💨
These are all the bikes I grew up with in the 70’s and 80’s. I live in the states and as a kid I remember going to the races and most of the bikes were Spanish and British with a couple of the new yellow TM Suzuki’s in the 250 class. Within couple of years everything was Honda’s and Suzuki’s. An incredible time in dirt bike development from 1970- 1985! Nice to see some Maico’s from the 70’s. As well Maico, KTM and GasGas keeping two strokes alive. I’m restoring a 1973 Suzuki GT550 triple and a 1971 HS1B Yamaha 90cc Twin Jet. I wish FIM would bring back Speedway racing to the states! Great sport. Thanks for the video. Nice show !
That's awesome, reliving those biking memories from the 70s and 80s must be a blast! Your restoration projects sound like a labor of love. Let me know how it goes with the Suzuki GT550 and Yamaha 90cc Twin Jet. Cheers to the good old days of dirt biking! Thanks for the comment 👍
We went, great show. Gutted not a single KDX there, on show or spares. Considering their popularity and production longevity, surprised not to see any there.
I went last year and saw loads of Honda xl 250r’s but I didn’t see one this year. I just guess it depends on who wants to stand all weekend with their bike. Good show though. Plenty for sale.
KDX 175 was cool enduro bike and did well , after I stopped racing did race a mates KLX 250 4stroke and couldn't believe how well it handled but then again they were very underpowered, one I used had a modded engine but still not fast
@@thatbikersimon Yes it was lol, I let it sit in the sun for 30 minutes before standing on a milk crate to start it lol...Carnegie Park in Livermore & Hollister were my fun spots!
Was hoping to see an Armstrong! Cool show, so many i wanna see, that existed at one time, some must still be around. Cologne bike show was something i looked forward to every year in the mags. Surprised there werent more twin shock beauties since there is such a thriving scene in Scotland/UK and great MX events too.
Hi, the bike was just in the back ground towards the end of the video, a video well done by the way so no criticism there, the british Rival was built in stourbridge in the 70s by an ex racer called Ken Sedgley, my dad knew him, a few midland schoolboys had them and did ok on them. Thanks for coming back to me .
That 2000 RM125 (RM125Y per spec) is very special. Not only is it an end of an era, it’s also a Y2K turn of the century dated machine, and it’s stunningly beautiful.
Just wish they'd bring them all back this is what we want not silly electric bikes.can't believe they actually had the DT 125R 3nc ypvs 3 wire servo Minta yz & everything proper bikes from back in the day
Does anyone have the details for the company that were offering steel frame lower rail repairs/replacement? I think i can remember them having a couple of frames up on a table on display...... 2024 was another great show. Many thanks😁
Australia early 80s my family moved from the suburbs of Melbourne to live in the country ,my father who rode a motorcycle when he was younger thought it would be vital that my brothers and i all had dirtbikes so we all went to our Honda dealer and out off nowhere he surprised us with 3 brand new XR80 Honda mini bikes ,we were over the moon ,the salesman convinced my father he needed to relive hes youth and steered him toward a CR480 Honda ,fast forward two months and we are in the country and hes finally got hes loud monster Honda started with the help of my uncle ,28 seconds after he took off he launched it straight into the sky ,he dusted himself off ,pushed it into the hayshed and its been there to this day ,the plastics are near transparent and tyres are rotted off the rims the petrol tank has all dried up and the mice has eaten the seat ,he should off just got a xr80 and joined us instead he got caught up in the salesman speech of reliving hes youth ,sorry to bore everyone it was just a strange and sad experience
That's quite a memorable and bittersweet story from your family's move to the country. It seems like your father's attempt to relive his youth with the CR480 Honda took an unexpected turn. The XR80 mini bikes, on the other hand, must have provided you and your brothers with some exciting adventures. Life has a way of surprising us with unexpected twists. thanks for sharing 🏍️💨💨💨
@@thatbikersimon three city kids dumped in the country with no idea of how much isolation there would be was awful ,thank god those lil Hondas gave us a sense off freedom ,dad just wanted to be part off it with hes sons, but that bike looked good but not for him ,it had a lil kickstarter on the left side so he found it awkward to start and it kicked back once and hurt hes foot so he left it till my uncle visited and convinced him to get it out and going and then it happened
I’m looking for a tank for a ‘69 360 8sp Husqvarna Sportsman. It’s a bulbous tank. The one I have was left unattended and collected rust and pitted. I’d like to find one before I start to repair this one. Thanks.
Shame, no ČZ or Jawa motocross bikes presented. They were dominating famous Six Says Enduro races. It started in 1947 - 1962, then 1970-1979, golden era for ČZ and Jawa bikes. Last win 1981. However, lack of proper investment to innovations because of stupid communist planned economy and forced export of motorbikes to communist countries lead over time to losing the technical advantage despite very talented designers. Communism fucked up everything it touched. The same applies for car industry in Czechoslovakia 1948-1989, except for Tatra trucks. The International Six Days Enduro (ISDE), formerly known as the International Six Days Trial (ISDT), is the oldest 'off-road' motorcycle event on the FIM Calendar.
That’s a great bit of history you’ve mentioned, what I tend to do it when I head back the following year I make a note of the bikes people ask to see and hopefully find some. Thanks for the comment. 👍
I love the old dirtbikes style especial like 80 to 86
Yes there great, some are real beasts.
This is awesome, growing up I had a1974 125 elsinore, '76 husky cr250, and '78 honda cr250, love the classics, thanks
Thanks for the comment 👍 glad you enjoyed the video it sounds like you had some great bikes to grow up with 🏍️
I had a '75 Elsi 125, down pipe, then upgraded to the RM125 in 1977 - had Simons long travel forks and Fox Airs...
Great video 👍🏼
Glad you enjoyed

Super nice, thanks for showing these treasures. All so beautifully made, estetics far from what we are getting now.

Which bike was that? as I’m always interested in what I’ve missed. Il put it on the list for the next one 👍🏍️💨💨
Had a few of these for enduro use , did convet a cr250 husky to a 500 yam 4stroke in late 80s
The 80s must of been the best years for dirt bikes for sure. Did you manage to keep any of them?

Hi Simon I have a 1982 Honda XL400R
Excellent 👌 Xl400 is that’s USA Bike?
I believe they where assembled in Spain I can't find any information about this bike from the chassis nor but it appears to be a very early 1982

Does anyone know where I can get some vintage leather MX jeans? Are there any specialist shops?

What is it with people that do ground up restorations and fit modern Renthal vinyl bar pads 🤷♂️ Especially when they now offer the cloth reissue pads

A 1974 TYZ 250?
Surely not?

Not a single Honda CR250M Elsinore.
