UFC Fighters "Explain" Just How Good is Jon Jones ?

  • Jon Jones became the fourth fighter in UFC history to earn title defenses in two weight classes.
UFC 309 main event saw heavyweight champion Jon Jones (28-1 MMA, 22-1 UFC) return from a 20-month layoff to take on Stipe Miocic (20-5 MMA, 14-5 UFC), and “Bones” blew through it with relative ease en route to a third-round TKO that further etched his name in the all-time octagon record books.
Jon Jones’ 16 victories in UFC championship fights are most in company history.
Jones’ eight stoppage victories in UFC title fights are tied with Matt Hughes for second-most in company history behind Anderson Silva (nine) and Matt Hughes (eight).
Jon Jones improved to 2-0 since he moved up to the heavyweight division in February 2023.
Jones’ 20-fight UFC unbeaten streak is the longest among active UFC fighters.

Jon Jones is on another level when it comes to MMA. His combination of physical intangibles-like insane reach and long limbs-gives him a massive advantage, but it’s his fight IQ and adaptability that make him truly unstoppable. The man knows how to use every weapon in his arsenal, from those brutal oblique kicks to chaining moves like the oblique kick into an Osoto Gari trip against Stipe. His Greco-Roman wrestling background only adds to his dominance, making him a threat both on the feet and on the ground. Beyond the skill, his killer instinct is unmatched. Jones doesn’t just want to win; he’ll do whatever it takes to secure the victory, and he’s cold-blooded enough to finish fights in ways that make opponents think twice. His choke on Lyoto Machida is the perfect example-no hesitation, pure ruthlessness. Love him or hate him, Jon Jones could be the best fighter to ever set foot in the cage. In a one-on-one, unarmed fight, it’s hard to imagine anyone from any era truly taking him down. Tom Aspinall, be careful what you wish for-Jones is a different beast entirely.

For the people thinking Stipe was too old. Jon is 37. 5 years difference. Jon makes everyone look old. Including Cyril Gann. He has nothing to prove now. Nothing. He has done everything many times over. He is the Wilt Chamberlain of MMA. Easily the GOAT but never given credit no matter what he does. The reason I use Chamberlain as the example is because of his insane records. However when people talk of the GOAT his name rarely comes up. Like he never existed. He did things no other player will ever do again. Never. Jon is likely in the same category. You may never see another like him.

One day ppl will say damn this guy use to fight professionals without training. Of course I don't think he would advocate that now but other professional fighters from Tyson to professional kick boxers to muay Thai to wrestlers all say he's the best to have done it. Imagine over 20 years of having a target on your back every challenger going into training camp with the mindset to be the first beat this guy, they have all the tapes on this guy and he is still 2 weight division 2 decades undefeated!!!!

Jon Jones needs and should fight Aspinal...i completely disagree with Jones when he says, " Fighting Aspinal doesn't do anything for my legacy." You know what the FANS want to see that fight.. Stop running, ducking Aspinal.. You should not have fought Miocic. That was a layup, and Jones knew that.. These tactics reminds me of Mayweather

As good as Jon is and he is truly the GOAT in human history in fighting,
no one is invincible and humans evolve and there will always be someone out there
who can and will beat Jones sooner or later. And I think that person is none other than
Tom Aspinall. Even Fedor would have beaten Jon
in their primes. I really believe this!! I have followed two fighters from the beginning,
and Fedor would beat Jones. So, just because Jon is the GOAT does not mean he can not be beaten!!

It’s funny seeing so many fan boys of EITHER Jones or Aspinall trying to say that Jon is the goat and has better fight IQ and Tom has no chance… or Tom is younger, stronger and far quicker and will run right through Jon blah blah blah….
Fact is, if Jones just takes the goddamn fight we don’t need to speculate. We will find out! That’s the whole point of the UFC is it not??… to put the best of the best up against the next best considered challenger?… to decide overall who really is the main man! Stop the talking and the whining and the speculating and get it done already, UFC NEED TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN or tell Jones to go ahead and retire. If he ducks this fight anymore to talk about Pereira then he’s an absolute joke and doesn’t even deserve the goat status anymore NO MATTER WHAT HE HAS ACCOMPLISHED SO FAR. If he really is the best, then let’s see him prove it. Personally, I think he IS scared of fighting Tom, as he knows Tom is the closest thing to being able to ruin his ‘legacy’. However, I think he’s wrong. Even if he fought Tom and LOST, I still think Jon deserves to keep the status of the goat BECAUSE he put it all on the line and lost in only fight (i don’t count the disqualification years ago sorry 😂). Jon needs to stop stressing about his legacy. If he’s brave enough to step up against Aspinall, he’s still the heavyweight goat win lose or draw, no question! If Tom wins, he’s simply proven that he is the ‘new wave’ of fighter to carry the torch on and that Jones is finally done. So what? It NEVER proves that he would have beaten Jon in his PRIME. That argument can rage on and on. And that is the beauty of it. We all know Jones is older but let’s see if he’s STILL GOT IT shall we?? I personally don’t like to see fighters who made a boat load of money in their prime fighting a good proportion of opponents who were older than them, then want to end their career ‘on a high note’ or unbeaten by avoiding the younger guys themselves. That is the fight game and you capitalised from it yourself back in the day. Get on with it. Fight on until you finally get beat and then we can see how long you really were at the top. And you now make the most money you’ve ever made in a single fight as a golden handshake to end your career and thank you for the memories. End of story. And for the record, I think Tom wins, BUT, I think Jones is that good, that it would be a closer fight than a lot of people think, and I highly doubt it will be another standard 1st round knockout. This probably will be the fight that tests Toms cardio into deeper rounds. Toms never faced ANYBODY like Jones. But do I still think Tom gets the knockout in the end? Yes I do. But who really knows? Nobody. Not even Jon or Tom knows. THAT is why we need to see this fight, and stop all the fanboy bitchin once and for all 😂

Jon jones needs to beat Pereira and aspinall as it will give longevity to his claim to be GOAT.
MMA GOATS change batons often, from Royce, to rickson, to fedor, to gsp to Silva.
Without an Aspinall on Jon jones resume, Jon jones will be goat for next 5 years. With Aspinall and Pereira on resume Jon jones will be GOAT for foreseeable future, be it 10 or 15 years

@sinclairj7492 There's kicking range, jabbing range, & out of range. Those are the only three fighting ranges. If you're within fighting range, that means you're in range to do anything & or have anything done to you.
