this is my absolute favorite fucking cave-in song..... and now thinking about Caleb... and how this song also reminds me of playing cave-in (and converge, botch, isis, pig destroyer, etc.) into the wee hours of night with my best friend, just drinking and jamming out together.... i'm like crying. he sadly passed away years ago, back in 2008. he was only 26.... i'm 41 now, he would've been 38, almost 39... I smile though, because everything tells me that he probably welcomed his hero Caleb Scofield past the gates with a huge hug and fan boy'd the fuck out when he saw him in that next life we call the passing... and I'm still fucking crying.... thank you ETID... this was a beautiful cover... here's to the dead, but never forgotten.
This took a song that was already a very nostalgic, backward-facing tune and used video to make it almost painful, remembering times that we didn't properly appreciate and will never see again. But in a poignant, good way. This was pretty fucking awesome.
If you want to hear more of Keith’s singing you should check out The Damned Things. It’s a side project/supergroup with Keith on vocals, Joe and Andy from Fall Out Boy on guitar and drums, Scott Ian from Anthrax on guitar, and Dan from Alkaline Trio. They’ve got 2 albums and they’re really good.
@@MAD9officiel True. BUT they’ll always have that ETID edge, whether it’s heavy stuff or stuff closer to this. And their back catalogue is full of heavy stuff to enjoy, too.
Cave In's cover of Moor was great, especially since Brodsky hit it out of the park, but damn, this is special. Keith is so damn good, the bass is just perfect, drums are tight as fuck, Andy & Jordan just a magical giutar duo. So. fucking. good.
This song makes me wish that there were more ETID gems that that made everyone stand out like this. It's like peak Failure. It's like the Foo Fighters if they didn't suck.
Not only does ETID do an incredible job honoring Cave In and this amazing song, but they do it in a way that's such a massive, poignant gift to the fans of both bands. Needle threaded brilliantly, boys.
IF there's any ETID fan who never listened to Cave In they picked such a perfect song to introduce them. Great cover, love it almost as much as original!
@@kidneystonermusic Same here. Only other song I’ve heard was Juggernaut and that’s because the guitarists of both bands spoke of the covers. Cave In’s guitarist said they figured ETID would cover a song like that since it was a heavier one off the first album more similar to the type of stuff ETID usually plays.
@@jbasti227 yeah but Keith is always looking for an excuse to flex those vocal chops. If you haven't checked out The Finale, it reminded me a lot of that side project
This is legendary. Long live ETID. It will never be anymore more than the Buckley's and Andy Williams. Sad they fell apart. I feel like I got my heart broken as a teenager when I saw the news.
A lot of the scene shot down Cave In when Antanae came out, but I thought it was an interesting and thoughtful artistic statement from a growing band who should have been way bigger than they were. Legends. RIP Caleb
I remember hating Antenna.. it was soo different from the heavier shit I was into, but then when that moment hit i couldnt put it down.. to see ETID do this, brings back so many good memories. thanks bros!
Agreed. When it first came out, even Jupiter for that matter (I didn’t think anything could ever top UYHS), I wasn’t evolved enough to get it. For some reason I just kept listening to it and by the time it had been out for 6 months, it was my favorite Cave In record. Still is. In fact, it may be in my all-time top 10. So much so that my last band recorded a cover of Inspire. Oddly, my number one vote for which song to cover was Youth Overrided, but the band vote landed on Inspire which still rips. I don’t want to say that Cave In is underrated but FUCK they should have foo fighters money.
It’s easily their most accessible album and it’s the first of theirs I ever heard so it’s probably my favourite too! Let’s just say it’s in good company!
Taking antenna at face value as an alternative record its fantastic and completely overrated. But unfortunately majority of their fans were there since the beginning with until your heart stops and they hated it. Just appreciate everything for what it is
Oh crap. This made me feel all kinds of things. I will be smashing that replay button all night long. Thank you so much for making this happen and for uploading these songs to TH-cam.
Still remember watching the feed when this was released. The chills I got from this & Cave In doing Moor. Live music is my lifeline & while this wasn't live...it was just what I needed at the time.
Some of the footage of ETID is from my home town community center in Windsor, Ontario Canada. They were probably just on the brutal plot record at that time and I instantly became a fan. Tons of great bands passed through coming from the east cost of the U.S heading through from Toronto to Detroit, we were a very lucky and special seen at that time!!
I couldn't be more happy that ETID chose THIS song to cover. I know that Antenna is not looked upon as a favorable Cave In album, and it certainly sounds like the band has nothing but contempt for it whenever they talk about it, but it's really an incredible album. Yeah, I know it's a major label record with that "radio" sound, but... it's STILL a Cave In album, and compared to the majority of major label shit that was released at that time, it blows everything else out of the water. It's actually a very rare, and impressive feat, to see a band go full-circle in their musical journey. You think AFI is ever going to make another record like Shut Your Mouth and Open Your Eyes?
This video brings back so much nostalgia. I'm just glad that I was able to experience all those wonderful, wonderful times. This was the first Cave In song I ever learned on bass. Too. Much. Fun.

agreed. Watching all these clips of ETID throughout the past 20 years making me sad
Keith's singing voice is incredible. If ETID wanted to go more into this sonic direction, I, for one, wouldn't be upset.

This cover is even more emotional now. Hate they broke up.
Because Im a nerd. The music starts at 00:08 which is the same time the original did. The VHS date on the screen is the release date for Antenna.
I think it came out 3/18/2003, I only know this cause I'm a cave in nerd and it was my 20th birthday haha
