Thanks for doing a video on this curriculum. I love that something like this has come out! I've totally been piecing together Charlotte Mason's ideas on teaching Spanish for our homeschool and am happy that something more ready to go has come available. I just thought you might want to know what I've come to learn about Charlotte Mason when it comes to foreign languages since you liked her so much (just like me!). She had her students start their first foreign language which was French (because it was the most useful foreign language in England) in the 1st grade. Latin was added to the child's education 5th grade and then the kids would add another foreign language of their choosing in the 7th grade. That's four languages (counting their native tongue) that they were able to read write and communicate in verbally (minus Latin since it is a silent language) by the time they graduated. I'd say Charlotte's methods were quite effective to be able to pull something like that off!
Would you consider doing a video on how you do a lesson? I bought it to start in the fall but am having a hard time wrapping my mind around how to use/plan it practically with my crew and what to do each lesson...🤷🏼♀️
Just ordered it! Thank you so much!! Not being a native Spanish speaker but a Spanish major I’ve been looking fit a good fit for my 4 children! This does look awesome! It’s 50% off this weekend too! Just yesterday you tube thought you should be in my videos to watch lol and I’ve been catching up on so many videos! So much good stuff! Thank you so much!
BJU Spanish is great, but it is better for a classroom or Christian school. We use it at our co-op, actually! This Spanish is better for homeschool, IMHO.
Play the game "Loteria" with your kids. They'll love it and it will help with building vocabulary. It's sort of like a Mexican bingo. We play it at my house all the time.
Do you like using this more than the BYU press Spanish curriculum that you reviewed in your different video from a while back? Trying to decide on the best option for my kindergartner and 2nd grader 👏🤩
Great questions! Okay, so here's my take on it: This Simple Spanish is more involved for me. I do the reading and play the videos and do it WITH the kids. I still do like the BJU Spanish, though, BECAUSE it's a great dvd that I can just put on for the kids when I am unable to teach them. It would also depend on your budget. The BJU is a bit more pricey, and the Simple Spanish more affordable, but you do get a lot for the BJU dvd program. I see good benefits for either, and I think you can't go wrong with which you decide :) As far as the kids, I'll have to ask them which they like better.
Hey Ashley!!! My name is Renee and I’d love to connect with you!! I believe your family goes to church with my parents at WCBC!! (Tim & Robin) We decided to homeschool our Kinder son this year bc of Covid & having an immune compromised kidds (our 3 yr old daughter)! We don’t do Charlotte Mason style homeschooling but it would still be awesome to connect with someone locally!!! 😁
That’s a great question! (Sorry I’m just answering it) If the 13 year old boys is the oldest child and you have younger kiddos in the family, I would have him sit in on the lessons as best you can. BUT if he is the only child you are working with, in my opinion, this would not work well with an older child. :) I think there are other resources that would be better for that ages. (Talk Box Mom, would be my best recommendation, but I really don’t know what else could be out there).
I am a native Spanish speaker and this looks fantastic. I have a question, hoping you can answer:) My kindergadener already only speaks Spanish. We only speak Spanish at home. It is his first spoken language. He knows the alphabet , numbers, shapes, colors in Spanish. Doesn't know how to read it yet. He knows very little English. I am homeschooling and looking for a dual immersion type of curriculum. I plan to gradually incorporate the English each year by grade, using the 90/10 immersion model. So I am wondering would this be a good curriculum for us? Thank you🙏
Actually, I think this could be used for bilingual families who are native Spanish speakers! But I think Purely Preschool (Puramente Prescolar) may be a better fit! It's a Preschool curriculum, but I think could be used for Kindergarten as well and is a book based curriculum for Spanish speaking families! Check out the channel Seven in All for more info!
Woo hoo! As I research I see so many moms who speak Spanish trying to teach their kids Spanish with curriculum! Learning organically is best but of course I don’t speak fluently.
That's a great question, at first thought I would say probably not. But this would be a great question to ask the. creator of the units. She may be able to answer that better than I could :)
*Could this curriculum work for students in the HS range who have had a year of basic Spanish already? I'm looking for something that would be considered Spanish 2 & 3. Thanks!!
I'm so sorry I forgot to respond! I'm not sure what you mean about the process of ordering? I just know you can get individual units or a year subscription to all the units. They still only have printable download versions that you can use on your devices or print on your own :) Does that help?
Hmmmm, for a Spanish level 2 or three... I'm not sure! It has a lot of vocabulary that does go a bit beyond a basic Spanish, but there isn't a lot of conversational practice or verb practice. I have added a few more verbs to what we do with this curriculum. The books we listen to/read are all in Spanish! But the songs that they provide are definitely geared toward young kids.
Sounds super exciting! Do you find that there is a lot of Scripture into it, though? We are a Muslim family and while I would love mention of God, I would rather not have most of the curriculum being Bible based
I just purchased the whole 1st year and I am not able to download it or better said the link I was sent to input to my browser is not working? Is there something I am missing or doing wrong?
Oh no, Mari!! My first thought is if you got the whole year, you’ll want to download it to a computer. Did you try it on your phone or computer? If you tried it on your phone, you can check a folder on your phone that says “Files” or “Downloads”. Find the main search for your phone and search for both of those and check there. Also, what does it mean “not working?” What happens when you click the download link? Lastly, you’ll want to email the Simply Spanish people, and they can help you further. I just use the curriculum and tell others about it :) (Although, I am tech savvy and can help with with the suggestions I gave above. Beyond that I am unsure of what to do.) Email them here: www.cmsimplespanish.com/pages/contact
I don't know the answer to this question, I'm not sure. At first glance I would say probably not, BUT I would ask the creator of the curriculum and I know she could help you. :)
I'm a native Spanish speaker, I paused to look at the page u showed and it looks perfect 🥰 guys get it !

I just bought this for our little class. Thank you for sharing the curriculum suggestions.
Thank you! I have been searching for something like this.

I can't find the criculum is it still available,
This looks fantastic! Just bought Unit 1!
Woohoo! Yay, Ashley! Bueno!
My son told me he wants to learn Spanish so I am looking around and this looks great. Are you still using it?
Yes. An update would be nice
This looks amazing! Thank you so much for sharing this!!!
You are so welcome!
Sounds so awesome. I definitely have to look into this curriculum. Thanks for sharing.
GAH! This is what I have been looking for for so long! GAH!!!!
Yay!
Thank you!!!! I have been searching!

This is really neat! You know that learning languages is very dear to my heart!
Which do you like best? BJU Spanish or this one?

Thank you!! Me too 😁
I’m 4 mins in, and I’m already SOLD!!
Should the units be done in order? We will be doing an insect unit study this summer and I noticed there was a Spanish unit on insects.
Some of the curriculum is best done on order, BUT I think you would be fine if you wanted to start with the insects unit!
We love family nest printing

Does this curriculum still exist? The link says the domain is for sale.
It does! You can just go to the main site. I need to fix the link. Try this: www.cmsimplelanguages.com
Yeah, this is happening.
I HAVE TO TRY THIS!!!!!
Yay!
Amazing!!
Awesome!!!
I'm so happy I came across this video!! How long does one unit last? Is it a week, 2 weeks etc?
I found a unit lasts about 2-3 weeks if you do a lesson a few times a week. If you do it ONCE a week, you can stretch it to one unit a month.
@@JoyfulNoiseLearning thank you!

There is not a lot of scripture mentioned actually. It's just one verse at the beginning that you could easily skip over :) Thanks for watching!
