I got out of a relationship about a year and a half ago and I started going on dates earlier this year. At first it was fun and felt freeing, being able to meet new people, figure out what I want, and look for in a relationship. I deleted my dating profile about a month ago. I felt I wanted to date someone I met in person, I feel like sometimes online dating can feel awkward, talking to someone you don't truly know. It's been tough for me putting myself out there since the break up, I get super sad at times when I think about being in a relationship with someone new, because my past partner was my first relationship and we lived with one another and it didn't workout because we were in different places in life. Sometimes I feel I need to get out of my head and truly let go of him, I know he's dated other people and moved on. Sometimes I ask myself "Why can't I move on when he has?" and I feel bad for still being attached to him and what we had. I would love to experience being in a relationship with someone else, but I feel guilty if I do, as if it's wrong for me. It's been so confusing, but I'm learning to enjoy my time with myself.

I am really scared of being in your situation, my first relationship also just ended 2 weeks ago, he broke up with me, i still have alot of love for him and i feel like i always would, i don't hate him for leaving me, my needs and understanding about things were way different, he was the first person who truly loved me and cared and me and I'd always be very grateful for him for that, i feel like I'd stay stuck on him while he accepts it and moves on, he was my first love, my first kiss and my first time, he was the most special person to me ever, i just hope I'll be able to move on like he would, and someday I'll also be able to see other people and not cry when i think about him.
My husband and I met through a dating app in 2016. I told him I liked his blonde hair and beard and he asked to go to a movie sometime. We now have 3 small kids, married for 3.5 years 💛💛💛

I met the love of my life on Hinge. I will say I think that is less common than the apps would make it seem. The trouble with using dating apps is the thing that you both have in common is wanting to date, and not necessarily something you enjoy like you’d find if you met someone doing one of your hobbies or something. I’m proud of you for getting back out there though, that’s always the hardest part ❤

I was dating my ex for two years and ended things because of a few reasons. I wasn’t interested in dating or having a relationship for a long time. That was until I started talking to someone I went to high school with my freshman year (I went to two different schools then). He is honestly everything I could’ve asked for and more, and has made me learn to appreciate myself more than I had before

Coming from someone who is healing, I don’t think you’re ready to date. However have fun being single, enjoy your independence, enjoy your alone time. Based on my experience, online dating can be exhausting and overwhelming at the same time, they’re either crazy or complete jerks. Enjoy your youth, enjoy time with friends and take yourself on dates that’s when I knew I was ready to date and commit to someone.

I’ve always been a shy person so online dating was a great alternative for me to meet people I otherwise never would’ve approached! My bf and I met on an online dating app - I was afraid we wouldn’t have much in common bc I was so inexperienced in a lot of areas. I “liked” his page anyway and once we started talking I found out very quickly he was super down-to-earth and we had a similar sense of humor. We just hit our 5 year anniversary last month. I agree that dating really teaches you about yourself and also what you want/don’t want so I think any date, good or bad is a learning experience. I was very transparent about what I was looking for on dating apps (ie I wanted to be in a relationship) so I wouldn’t waste the other person’s time or my own. Please be careful when dating, especially if none of your friends don't know them.
