I love that quote “no one ever predicted he would be their starting qb”...listen, my exact words when Seattle drafted him were “they just spent a lot of money to have Flynn be a backup.” Badger fans all watched what Russ did for us. We all knew he was special. Every team that passed on him (especially the Vikings!) and didn’t have a franchise qb should have fired their gm, head coach, and entire staff for not being able to see it.

I mean if he wins like 12 games and gets to 50TDs and throw less than 15 INTS which is still feasible, with all the mediocre teams that are left on their schedule I think he has a good chance of winning.

As an Auburn fan, we were a little bitter with Russell Wilson’s decision to go transfer to Wisconsin his last year. He left N.C. State for baseball. When it didn’t work out, he one year left of eligibility to play college football. Cam Newton had just won the Heisman trophy, led us to a national championship, and left for the NFL. We were left with no real options at quarterback. Russell’s final two schools to pick from were Auburn and Wisconsin...and we all know how that went.
If you haven’t yet, you should check out Matt Stafford. He’s been in the lions his whole career so he hasn’t had much “success” but he’s one of the best QBs in the league!!
@@ben3249-x4n You're are comparing him to quarterbacks who's teams have actively tried to surround them with players. The Lions have never done that. Sure, Stafford had Megatron during his prime. But the Lions lack of effort to build a winning team is literally what drove Johnson to lose his love for the game and ultimately retire. If you were to place Stafford on any of the teams that the Quarterbacks you mentioned play for, he would have more than a fighting chance to be considered a top player in the league.

He is also a gunslinger type quarterback. So comparing him to another gunslinger like Brett Favre, he actually has better accuracy since Favre averaged 62% throughout his career. But having next to no receivers that are capable of shedding coverage and getting open causes your read time to increase and therefore, makes it appear that you have no pocket awareness. And in turn lowers your accuracy bc you are forced to make contested throws into tighter coverage or throw the ball away. It's a situation of, we will never know what he was fully capable of bc his team has never made an effort to surround him with enough talent to succeed.

So, Russ got his chances in Seattle he might have never gotten on any other team because of his height. His height was never an issue with the Seahawks. And a lot of other teams have been crying in their beer because of passing on him up to three times in the draft. They do get to see him, though on Sundays as he kicks their asses. hehehehehehe
You can technically be drafted by any team at any time. You just have rights for each sport. So, once a team drafts you, they have your rights until you decide to retire or negotiate out of it. Russ' baseball rights last I knew, were owned by the Texas Rangers.

My favorite, the Washington Huskies, have fallen on hard times. i don't get it, because they do get good players and their coaches seem to be good. But, there is just something missing on this team from our glory days under Don James, a mid-west guy that became a great coach for us.
