Technically they are not communist because they’re socialist which is the stage before communism. They’re a Marxist country and are following the Marxist theory of developing socialism instead of jumping the gun and going into full blown communism and getting rid of the state like anarchists believe in which always leads to getting crushed by imperialists and some fascist regime being installed by the west or something.
@Riley Dwyer Even if you don’t consider China to be communist now they were certainly still an authoritarian/facist state while they were communist back in the Cold War.
@Riley Dwyer very well said. facism is inherently authoritarian. It's also very funny how people view facism and communism as the same thing because big government, while completely ignoring the main factors of communism and when can you call a system socialist/communist. It doesn't even have to be authoritarian.
Even the death camps in China are actually the happiest places on earth and prisoners there kill themselves because they know in no other place will they have so much fun ,dancing and watching Winnie the Pooh all day.
After listening to him heres my pov. Yes capitalism is not perfect, neither is socialism. But what is furthest from working is communism. Because of the following: 1. Communism depend on the inherent good in people. It expects people to all work equally hard and contribute equally. And the rewards are equal. Reality: people are not equal. Someone is a hardworker, other a smart worker, other lazy and another works only as much as required. You cannot force people to share the same ideals and standards of work. Valuation of all work is not same. Someone who is managing a police department is handling different problems than a beat cop. Also, if eveyone is equal who is there to manage? Hierarchy is inevitable. 2. Communism says people should work towards their best they can provide and do that. Reality: even if someone is good at something it doesnt mean they might want to make it career. Innovation doesnt come from forced norms but from the ability to fail and learn. 3. Communism has not been appolied properly. Reality: if an idea applied everywhere has failed, led to downfall of countries and or death of millions then there is no "proper" way to implement it 5. Communism dictates everyone to follow the same set of ideals. Reality: Who gets to implement that? Rules are not followed by people because they are good, rules are implemented by the barrel of a gun. And whoever comes to power they dont let go and do whatever they need to keep that power. Same thing that has happened in north korea, soviet russia, china to name a few. So we are back to hierarchy. Someone who can enforce this. So not everyone is equal. If even 1 person is not equal then there is no equality. And who polices those who police us? If your idea is, people are good and it will lead to utopia then you are not aquinted with the realities of the world. Its always the vocal and active minority of 10% or so who shape history.
Also, if someone wants to work harder than others to achieve more. If someone invents something that changes lives, what incentive they have to do that if the reward is same? I agree poor people should be helped. But where do you draw the line? Would you help 10 million, 20, 30 or more? When does it become unsustainable to help everyone equally when people aren't putting in the work? Then whats next? Population control? So that only a limited amount of people get help? China did that and now is backtracking hard on it due to declining youth ratio. I've lived in a state where the ruling govt was communist. And when they left they left behind once great state which used to be the center of trade and culture to a state that is now nowhere near the top 5 in the country. Most major factories have closed down and having only a handful of MNCs make people seek outside for better opportunity. If given the option I would rather choose a mixed approach of capitalism and some socialism but never communism. It is inherently a non functioning idea and it ends up creating a dictatorship
As usual, a proponent of a system of government supports the best aspects of the pure theory while admitting that it has never been put into practice and brushing off the historical evidence that it doesn’t work. I like many aspects of capitalism and socialism, and I am learning about the flaws of capitalism, but the historical evidence against communism is perfectly clear.
Except, it is clear that the people who claimed to have implemented communism lied about what they were doing and relabelled totalitarianism as communism. Similar to how people practicing republicanism relabelled it as democracy and many people in republics cannot seem to figure this out. Not hard to grasp, right?
