Big up Kopish!!! My honest take is FSG dont spend big, Xabi and Amorim would prefer to spend more hence they weren't interested. Slot will be dictated by Edwards and FSG. Hope im wrong...he does seem to have the ppl skills and thats what Klopp has in abundance...players love to play for Klopp and Slot may have that too.

Arne Slot won the same things at Feyenoord as Gio Van Bronckhurst. He isn't going to win a PL or CL at Liverpool while Guardiola is around. He might win a lesser cup or two and get top 4, but that's his limit. Liverpool needed a more experienced and successful manager.

I would prefer a premier League level manager like De Zerbi, Emery or Frank. But, who knows Arne Slot might turn Liverpool into a beast of a team in years to come.

For Slot to win things, it's beating two teams domestically, Man City w/Pep + $$ (powers) and Arsenal w/Arteta + their change in approach when spending $$. Reminder: Slot will still be working under a budget (that's top 7 on avg. in the premier league if not 10) just as Klopp did but will be expected to do better. It's all good for Edwards to filter down players with potential on his laptop that fit the club's budget, it's a whole new ball game coaching those players to hit their required heights like Klopp did (a hit rate that needs to be in the high 90s percentile). The last time a Dutch club won the CL was in 1995 (which means beating the likes of Real/PSG/Munich). Slots turn to turn us from doubters to believers. Time will tell.

This myth that ten hag spent bucket loads at Ajax. He spent 170m over 4.5 years which is peanuts. He had a good structure around him which helped. Slot will need the same but also will have to understand that there are 10 other teams who are not easy to beat in the league whereas the duth league has two or three good teams at max. The prem is a different animal best believe.

I think we could be getting Ten Hag 2.0 because winning the Dutch title when Ajax has sold all their players and are terrible is not an achievement and his teams have been trash in Europe. I fear we will become a mediocre team under him. Dutch coaches don’t win the big trophies. Apart from Ajax, PSV, and Feyenoord, the Championship is a stronger league in depth than the Dutch league.

Liverpool fans knows ball though. Don’t get me wrong drifty, but we were right on nunez when we spent 100 m on him. He’s not at that level and will probably never be the main man. We were right about endo as well. As brillant as he’s been this season, he’s still not at that elite level that we needed unfortunately coz having a rice in this team wins us the league. We’re being conditioned by fsg to accept mediocrity imo.

Look, Slot is by no means my number one candidate, but I hate seeing the crap he's receiving and people labeling him the next Ten Hag. Are we becoming like the Arsenal fanbase now? It's obvious that we're going to decline somewhat and we may have to accept that we're not challenging City and Arsenal for a few years. At the very least I just want us to keep being in and around top 4 and not become the joke banter club we were during the Hodgson and Rogers era again. We may not get top 4 next season, but as long as we don't end up like Chelsea are now and maintain some kind of relevancy so that we can continue bringing in top players, we'll then have a platform to progress back to the top. If we end up back in mid table again then yeah, I've got no idea where we go.
I really think people forget just how insanely lucky we were to get Klopp when we did. We were going nowhere, we were in the mud, but in five years we became arguably the best team in Europe. When clubs get stuck moving nowhere they usually end up like Man United have been since Fergie left, jumping from manager to manager. With Klopp we prevented the last 7 or so years being more of the crap we became accustomed to before he joined. We likely won't strike gold the same way again for a long time. All teams have their eras. That's just football. Arsenal haven't had a golden era since the early 2000's, but they're now due one just like we were with Klopp. Man United god forbid will probably be back at the top again someday. All good things eventually have to come to an end and I hate that fact as much as everyone else, but expecting it to never end will lead to disappointment.

Ask Teun Koopmeiners about Arne Slot. Coached him at Ak Alkmaar made him a top player for him to get him to Atalanta. Slot profile is like Klopp and Alonso. It fits what Liverpool want to do going forward. He improves players and players love him up. If it wasn’t for Covid Ak Alkmaar winning the league would have gone down in history of Football. Improving players in the Dutch league is not the same as doing in the prem/ Liverpool. He has never worked with world class players in his career. We don’t know if he can gain the respect and improve players that have won big trophies like VVD, Trent, Ali, Salah, Mac yet. We will have to wait and see but it’s not a given.
