JoeyLisle The part where he stands there with his hand in the air still. I think it was on War/No more trouble song? That guy is still more powerful then any man that has graced the earth.
JoeyLisle Thank you for that comment. This man is my dad. The shocking thingt o me is that there have been some good ones...elvis, lenon, mccartney, tupac, Michael Jackson, Ray Charles, JAmes brown......and this 5'7 guy from Jamaica has power than all of them combined times 10000. He is the most popular musician ever. Go to any country and u will see his t-shirt, beach ball, etc. Most people in rural Chile dont know who Elvis is, but they sure know who Bob MArley is. People dont realize how special this guy was. The words, the melody, the aggressive voice that can also be soft like a lamb when needed, the good looks,....there was something else going on with this guy. Because anyone who comes up with " emancipate yourself from mental slavery" u would think is a sophisticated guy, yet in interviews he sounds like a simple minded person, almost naive, yet simultaneously a grand master poet. Bob MArley is my Father!!!
@Abraham Philip ugh....they are all talented in their own way. Nothing artificial about Michael or his music. He was amazing just as Bob was amazing imo.
The first minute and thirty seconds - the greatest performance ever by any drummer!! Carly Carlton Barrett - the best drummer ever! He was the greatest in every song really. Brother Aston Barrett on bass, the best ever also. "The drum is the heartbeat of music, and the bass is the backbone!"
Often, one song sends me out sniffing for more of an artist's work, but then a completely different one, an under-the-radar one, keeps me glued. Over the years this is the one Bob Marley song that has turned out to be my favorite, especially performed live. I think I find it paradoxical that one should deny one guilt and admit another, even though it really makes no difference - the consequence is the same. It is as if to say: I will take responsibility for my actions, but not for any other. Which I suppose is the more reason the persona should be believed; he really is telling the truth? Well, that's the question...
In Jamaica in spirit with my babygirl!! Wishing I were there with her right now drinking rum punches, hurricanes, strawberry daiquiris on the beach under the canopied beds!! 💘 🌴 🇯🇲 😍 🎶 💃 👗 👡 🇯🇲 🌴 🎼
Bob Marley is the symbol of freedom, his music has a meaning and that meaning is about his struggle and pain even war he seen around its sad he died I love that man and will aways listen to his music, happy birthday 74 years old earth strong we love you Marley #jah Rastafari 🇯🇲🇬🇩
I am not a weed guy, some Reggae I like, and I barely know any Bob Marley songs. But this is just one dam good classic tune to listen too relaxing in a hammock
everone is talking about bob marley his music his message and this and that and i tell ya guys without those majestic musicians all of them in all periods and especially carlton barrett this guy kept the whole band together open your ears and listen close he was a revolutionary drummer in the reggae era no one played like him he was the tightest drummer. take a listen at live in leeds 1973 show were carly and peter blow away every song of the show. i grew up with the wailers music and as a youth i learned all the lyrics without focusing so much on the music as i grew older i realized that the message was great but the music that this guys made were something you can't put it in words...
you're right brother I am a musician and I know excactly what your talking 'bout Carlton and his brother on bass where the archtitects of reggae every song a different pattern familyman plays on every life performance a different bass line, Carly plays every time another roll and break can categorise them under Jazz musicians, quick thinking , improvisement, innovating
+iya iseda Bob Marley and the Wailers had it all, which is why I believe they were so successful. Marley was a great songwriter and a charismatic performer, and the Barrett brothers gave the songs an infectious groove and punch, both in studio and on stage. The other musicians were perhaps replaceable, but the Barretts... I don't think so. Honorable mention goes to the I Threes (Griffits, Mowatt and Rita Marley), but Live in Leeds is a great example of The Wailers sounding fantastic already before they were introduced.
Bob's a great spiritual being and a great teacher, teaching throughout his music. Unfortunately mr. Marley, RACISM still excists today. Many people are 'John Brown', and many people's bucket's are full...
the drummer and the bassplayer are brothers Carlton and Aston BARRETT One of the very best. We may never see another like Bob. One of the very best. We may never see another like Bob.
The way he sings, the way he dance, the way he moves, the way he is inside music....simply wonderful! God bless you Bob.
His soul moves me.
