I own a copy of the DVD of AUTO-FOCUS but I had forgotten about it, Never actually watched it. After this podcast, I think maybe I'll finally get around to it. Great job of piquing my interest,

I have no doubt in my mind that it was Carpenter, he had the motive, the opportunity, access to the murder weapon, access to Crane's house - sometimes the most obvious answer is the right answer
I like the movie a lot, but Paul Schrader makes some bizarre choices, most notably changing the Hogans Heroes theme because they couldn't pay the license fee, I suppose. So why just NOT use it? He also blurred the Johnny Carson Show, rather than not showing it. Or blurring a sex scene, rather than using another angle, It takes you out of the movie. Plus, Kinnear is shorter than Klink in the movie. Why not put him on a raiser?
@@PopCultureRetro He was. Also interesting how Hogans Heroes made WW2 vets flip. Some guy's dad destroyed the TV because he was watching Hogan's Heroes. (The idea of serving without going through the crap most did was the issue)
I watched this movie and was surprised at how good it was. However, I did have to take a shower afterwards. ☺️ I do love how the tone and the colors of the movie change as Bob Crane descends into his downward spiral. For the first half, the music is more upbeat and the colors are brighter. In the second half, the music is more downbeat and the colors are darker.
Well, it's a POW camp, not a concentration camp. It's a comedy variation of STALAG 17 or THE GREAT ESCAPE. Not all that mind boggling, it was basically a service comedy in the vein of THE PHIL SILVERS SHOW or MCHALE'S NAVY. I never understood how people misinterpreted the show's concept.
Great debut show you guys! And thank you so much for all your kind words. You had me blushing!
Thank YOU for making it easy to praise :)

Definitely worth a watch! Let us know your thoughts. :)
Robert Clary was IN a concentration camp, yet played Corporal LeBeau on Hogan's Heroes.
Picnic at Hanging Rock is a highly recommended film to review and a superb 1975 film by Peter Weir
We will have to check that one out for an episode! :)

Agreed totally

Agree with all of hat. Thought about the height aspect immediately while watching.
I remember Auto Focus.Bob Crane's son was in it. I knew the guy on ebay who supplied the vintage video gear. So there.
He'd be someone fun to talk to :)

Hogan's Heroes was such an odd choice for a show. Amazing that it was a hit for as long as it was.
Very surprising to see the lives behind the scenes.

Respect your point, but probably because of thew concept of funny Nazis.
@@PopCultureRetro I love dark comedy, I grew up with the National Lampoon, which made Hogan's Heroes look like...well, a sitcom from the 60's.
