It's nice to see that you can push your baby pram without obstacles like cars parked on the pavement, as you said welldone Moscato. I was grone in Kalithea which is very close and I know almost everything about Moschato I used to go in the summer cinema and I remember I took my nephew who's now a doctor to watch E.T extra terrestrial he loved it 😊

The rent for the 2-bedroom 90 sq meter apartment you found is cheaper than the rent I was paying in The Netherlands 13 years ago for a tiny penthouse of only 25 sq meter. Rents in Greece are very cheap compared to the other European countries, it's the salaries that are very low and you cannot afford them. It's best that you buy your own house or stay at your in-laws in Salamina until you save up the 30% downpayment that your bank requires in order to grant you a mortgage for your own house. Supermarkets are indeed more expensive than the rest of Europe.

Hi!😃 Yes it's true what you say, the apartment would be cheap if it was in another country😌 but here in Greece it's too much considering the salaries are very low😌

@@serenityssolace no they're not the same, rent prices in Athens are 58.3% lower than in Munich, and the overall cost of living including rent in Athens is 37.0% lower than in Munich.

    Hello!
This rent nowadays is kinda normal for this area. In case you want something cheaper, which is what I would probably do, I suggest you, if you like the wider Piraeus area, to start searching in places near Faliro. There're areas near Faliron (actually right around it) where you will find lower rents for apartments of the same size and approximately the same year of construction. All these areas are as safe as Faliron, they have more or less the same infrustructures, and most importantly they lie near the Metro network (so fast access to Athens, to the Airport and to all the Metro network whatsoever), near the suburban railway (Proastiakos), near to Piraeus and to the Peace and Friendship stadium at Faliro and the park around it, immidiate access to the Athens riviera, etc. There're are such areas near Faliro.
Now, for decades buying a house is to the Greeks, what buying a car is to the Americans. The vast majority of the Greeks the last 70 years (if not more) up until the early 2010s (when the financial crisis emerged), they worked having one main goal: to buy their own house, or as we call it in Greece "to put a roof tile on our head".
Currently this is a very difficult task for most people living in Greece. You see, the news for the Greek economy might be very good (and I have no doubt they are), but this has not yet been materialized for the majority of the people, at least not in a way to make things significantly easier. It 'll probably need many years for the people to see a significant change.
Housing is an increasing problem in Greece, one of many aspects.
Regards and thank you both for making this video!

Renting is expensive everywhere now but if you compare these prices to other capital cities (Stockholm, Rome, Brussels, Berlin) its almost 1/3 for the same apartment. In Sweden where i live in a small town (not Stockholm) i pay 550€ rent (avgift) for my apartment that i own!! and thankfully i don't have a mortgage. If i had a mortgage it would be double.

'SPITI MOU' was(and there are plans to relaunch it) the housing program initiated by the government with 1% loan interest for up to 39 year old beneficiaries. They will launch it again, but they need to lengthen the period between approval and the given time to find a house. It is perhaps the only possible way for housing, and I would not even consider it affordable if you also account for the bills. Best of luck !

Yes, you’re right girls, food is expensive in Greece, a Greek yogurt in England is £2.00 on Crete over twice as much. Was in Cyprus in February, the yogurt was €1.80. The world is going mad, the locals are blaming the government. I for one, eat gyros take away and large bottle of Mythos beer most nights for €6.00. And go to the restaurant once or twice a week, which costs €20.00 average, you got to impoverished. I am staying here for a month. The last week I am going to my sisters in Ierapetra.
