    Hey there. To be honest.....most days my Tenkara rod collects dust, as I found that I much prefer the 'western' fly rod/reel deal....for several reasons I won't bore u with....BUT, I still watch your Tenkara videos because of your clearly genuine love of and appreciation for natural beauty, the remarkable quality of your videos, and of course the fact that you're an extremely knowledgeable angler catching beautiful wild native trout on the same types of flies I tie and throw.

      Thanks my friend, that's really cool to hear. Made my day. I do have some good news perhaps ... been playing around with a 3 wt fiberglass western fly rod that I'll be integrating into quite a few videos this season.

      @@FlickyFlies No worries, glad that you are excited for something new. I will definitely continue to watch your content. I found your channel when you collaborated with HFA and became a Tenkara addict and fan ever since. Thanks for the inspiration and I hope you enjoy the new 3 wt.

    Thanks for sharing the final day of your backpacking adventure Chris. The landscape is simply stunning, worth it even if the trout were no where to be found. IMHO, that river was perfectly suited for beefy tenkara rod. I suppose getting a bobber out on a long throw in one of those big, slow pools would beg for a western rig but for my part, I'd rather spend my time in narrow, faster water and in tail-outs below the riffles. Just a magical experience. I hope I have the chance to fish in such a beautiful place someday. Thanks for capturing it all in your typical expert manner!

      Thanks for watching as always! The fish bite so readily here and are numerous enough that you can get it done with just about any setup haha! With that said, I actually think tenkara had the edge here, especially in the bigger waterfall pools closer to the head of the pool, as the currents were very very complex and even my single heavy nymph on a tight line struggled to get into position. Travis' dry-dropper setup was pulling his nymphs out of place really easily.

      Thanks Michael! Releasing the entire compilation of all 3 days in this canyon next. Lucky to have spent some nights down here. Definitely one of my favorite trips of the year.

    Few fish but the scenery satisfies that need for the outdoors. I kept thinking, I'd like to try a hammock in one of those alcoves. Cheers

      Do you have a hammock already? It's my favorite way to sleep outdoors!

      @@FlickyFlies I do have a couple of hammocks. I'd need a few climbing chocks to sleep up there. I get some of my best sleeps in a hammock.

    Y'all are WILD for just walking around with those cameras 😂That made me nervous near the beginning, I don't trust myself that much.

      @FlickyFlies  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Haha I know man, IDK, just with all the b-roll I'm filming it's way easier to keep the camera set up on the tripod. It's like a really expensive hiking pole! What could go wrong?

    Very beautiful scenery, I love the camping and fishing. You might show just a little more around camp. Serious question, don't your arm get tired holding it way over your head all the time? It looks painful, I fly fish, euro nymp and fish some with a dragontail tenkara rod but I don't hold my arm over my head. Do you have some kind of shoulder exercise that you do daily? I'm a 20 year carpenter and can barley scratch my head it hurts so bad! Lol

      @FlickyFlies  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you! I agree, more around camp would be better. Newer videos that I'm filming this year are going to have a lot more of that so stay tuned! Honestly, my arms do get tired but I just kind of suffer through it haha. Maybe all these years of fishing has helped.

      @@FlickyFlies Probably using a line on the longer end for that rod for greater reach and using his hight and arm to draw the fish to the net.
