      Moving house is very stressfully. I'm so happy for you to finally have your home. God bless you and enjoy your home. I had a friend used to clean for a living. She told me one of the hardest jobs was cleaning a new home, after the builders. Take it easy.

      I would suggest step stools before tearing everything apart. That is a much more costly route than a few step stools.

      White vinegar helps remove hard water build-up. It also prevents black mold.

    Whatever they gave you for the cleaning fees wasn’t enough! I know you’re all about saving money and doing things on your own, but in this case, I would hire a professional cleaning company or something, just for sanity purposes and bill it to the realtor/seller, if possible.

    • @paularizzo5217
      @paularizzo5217 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      My thoughts exactly. Why kill yourself cleaning??? Leave it to the pros. It will save your sanity. ServPro cleaned each apt in my complex after a fire. Just a little word of mouth ad for them. They did an excellent and thorough job.

      I would have a cleaning company that uses steam on all surfaces to clean your home. Then it would feel
      clean.

    • @GinaKayLandis

      The Realtor sold the house. Realtors are not responsible for cleaning the houses before they list or before closing, (though I have done that *after* a supposed cleaning crew came through and did.not.clean similar to what we see in the video). That yuck did not happen overnight, especially the mess by the washer, or the fridge. Probably someone swept and wiped and vacuumed the top layer of yuck away. Believe me, people don't take enough time looking at homes they buy. Nothing against Jill, but every buyer needs to test the water system for water pressure, discoloration, toilet function, sink, tub, shower, dishwasher, and look at every surface to assess condition. I mean it's so bad at this house that they are laughing instead of crying! I am horrified but still Jill is so cute the way she says things I was awwing and chuckling throughout the video. I want to send a cleaner out there for her! But I likely can't. Still, I would if I had the funds! I hope for both Tawra and Jill that things run smoothly asap.

    Sorry ladies but the faucet has to go, not that much to replace it fortunately. Washer too probably. Both are a health hazard . Save your energy for the bug and air vent cleaning. I can’t reach the bottom of my washer either. So annoying to keep reaching on my tiptoes. The house looks lovely I’m sure you will enjoy it after these hurdles!

    I was wondering, Jill, if a faucet with a longer handle/different design would be easier to reach than moving the sink forward and having the hole to repair in the back?

    • @cabinlifeatedensprings1710
      @cabinlifeatedensprings1710 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I wonder if she did a big farmhouse sink if it would cover that space in the back. But it’s granite maybe a granite company can come place a matching piece or a metal piece placed in the gap would look ok. I think a big farmhouse sink would be nice for Jill. It blows my mind. My mother and I are so much like those two. We have a crazy autoimmune disease that’s been plaguing us for decades and we are penny pinchers, thrifters. I think them I think Jill and my mom could talk for months. We are so happy for them. My mom and I are in Tennessee suffering through this weather. We would very much like that nice town they moved to. But I think I’m going to central Florida for sunshine and a constant temperature. Begging my mom to come live with us but she’s hanging tough, maybe one day. Of course I want us all to live like the waltons. Was kinda hoping Jill would have stayed in the basement. But she hung tough too and got a gorgeous home. So happy for her. For the entire family! Leslye

    OMG...you have my sympathies! When I moved into a big house, the filth was so bad inside the kitchen cupboards, refrigerator, stove, etc. that it took me and 2 maids 3 days to clean...and we didn't do the refrigerator (I demanded my husband buy me a new one, immediately). Every spot in the house was filthy, except the walls, which had all just been painted. That is horrible, to have to go clean someone else's filthy mess, when you're trying to get moved in. So when I sold that house, I had the maids clean it spotless, top to bottom, repaired every little thing (that I could have left as is), and left knowing I had left that place WAY better than I had found it. I hope you have better luck with the rest of the new home process! ❤️

    Once you get the deep cleaning done, what a pretty house you'll have. We use a halo, rechargeable power bank for power outages you could run a small portable heater. We've got a halo in each car. Several times we've used it to start cars, our own and others. During a hurricane, my sister used 2 halo's to power, fans, lamp, laptop and charge phones. Hope you can enjoy your new place soon Love you guys.

    When we moved into our house it took me one week working full time all day (not exagerating) just to clean the 48” wolf range. Multiple cans of Easy Off. We even had to lift up the metal top so I could clean grease trapped below. Had to order new parts. Prev owner was divorced mother of 3, I bet she let kids do the cooking AND they fried steak every night to accumulate that much char and grease. I was in tears, we paid 1.75 mill (in CA!) for this? There was no hot water in one bathroom faucet and no cold water in another bathroom faucet so we would have to brush our teeth in one bathroom and run to another bathroom to wash face. Plumbers were here a solid day trying to fix all the problems. Such a stressful time I’ll never forget. But we got past it…and I got pretty new faucets!

    I've found that the newer toilets are very tall -- for some that is great, but those of us in the shorter category are thankful for squatty potties. Also for the newer washing machines that are top load - I need a short step bench to step up onto in order to reach down into the drum to get the clothes. Seems like designers are assuming all of the people are becoming taller! Praying for rest from your challenges with making this house your home. It is a gorgeous place and you deserve a beautiful place.

    We just bought a house in July. Our lender warned us to do a walk-through right before signing closing paperwork and NEVER let the seller stay in the house a minute after closing-not even to have access to the house. They have seen horror stories over the years. Our seller had told her realtor that she had a "professional cleaning" done. HA not what we saw. But overall it was minor and I knew I would be sanitizing everything anyway so no real issues. Hope you enjoy your new home!!!

      Just thinking I'd add this, the toilet height might be rectified with a small platform base in front for now, only saying this bc as we age we wish the toilets would be higher for ease of use getting up, looking towards the future. As for the washing machine, I had a Samsung (super large capacity) that was so deep I couldn't either reach the bottom and I hated that. A safe stool just high enough to use could be helpful. Or one of those hand grabbers to reach clothes maybe. With the cost of washers nowadays, you'd hate to replace sooner than you have too.

    I had a similar problem, although not as bad, I thought they were fruit flies. After checking the internet, I decided they were coming from the drains. So following the suggestions I found. I poured baking soda and vinegar in the drain. It foamed up. Then put the stopper in and left it over night. In the morning I had a kettle ready, boiled the water and poured it in the drain. It worked and I haven’t seen another drain fly since.
    I just had the problem in the kitchen, one of the TH-cam videos I watched, had them in the bathroom drains as well.
    Good luck, there is a solution to every problem.
    Warning: read the ingredients in your cleaning products, DO NOT mix anything that has ammonia with anything that has chlorine, it produces a colorless, odorless deadly gas.
    I follow your channel and know you will tackle and overcome these challenges. I look forward to following your journey.

    So sorry Jill about the condition your home was left in. Did you do a walk through before signing? I’d never heard of that until I sold my condo and the buyer came through again the morning before we met at the realtor’s office to sign. I wonder if maybe the house was in foreclosure or somehow the owner was forced to sell and he/she “retaliated” when they moved out by leaving it in such bad shape! I hope things go smoother for you and your house in the days ahead. 🙏🏻

      Oh that mess had to have been there for a long time, with the mold and all. Yeah in Ohio we do final walkthroughs within 48 hours of closing. I just can't believe a cleaning fee was charged on the new house, and the fridge was left so dirty!! ugh.

      But wasn't the video clip at the end where she initially looked at the house?
      It had obviously been staged, but it was also clean.
      It seems to me that you'd have to really work at getting a house that dirty in such a short time.

    Jill, I am so sorry about what you are having to put up with in what was to be your dream house. I hope that you are documenting more than what was shown on this VLOG as some of that should have been caught & fixed before you moved in.
    I'm a fine one to talk as I'm slowly working on my my house, but immediate problems gwt worked on first, before more of the long term ones.
    That hillside in the backyard... I hope they put the proper drainage in so your house doesn't "flood" when the snow melts or it rains. As steep as it looks, that would concern me a bit.
    May God bring the right people into your life, for any outside wotk you need to have done.

    I had a cleaning business many years ago and empty homes were by far harder and more time consuming to clean. There is no stuff to hide the dirt and grime. People couldn't understand why I would charge more. I aways had to explain cleaning in all your cabinets takes much longer than dusting. And all the yuck that removing your lovely stuff reveals. ** We've all sang the moved into the house and nothing turned out blues. Hope it gets smoothed out soon.

    Find an Amway distrbutor and get some laundry detergent andd run the washing machine with nothing in it 4 or 5 times. It will clean the innards of the washing machine. It willclean the drum and everything. If I lived closer to yo I would just bring you some of mine and help Jill XX

On a more positive note, your home is beautiful, and once you add your things to your home it will be more beautiful. I see a wonderful future for you in this beautiful home, and many memories to be made at "Grandmas house". Stay healthy and enjoy your new beginning. God Bless.

      What did the Realtor do that was bad? There are disclosures in almost every state where sellers have to disclose what is wrong with the house. Maybe the Realtor thought it wouldn't be that bad since the Mom bought it with cash and could possible get someone to do deep cleaning. I am a Realtor and sometimes people want what they want, and ethically we have to follow their instructions (lawfully). Maybe Dave can defend himself, but really, he helped her find a house and she saw with her own eyes the shape it was in. That mess didn't happen overnight.
