- A wonderfully understated gem from a talented songwriter whose career was way too brief. The song has since been covered many times and it's a song I return to again and again.
Just a small handful of simple chord shapes and a capo are all that you'll need to play through the song, and I'll take you through the shape and fingerpicking suggestions, plus a full transcription of the instrumental intro as it was originally recorded in 1965.
By the way:

Great lesson! Thank you, David. Bert Jansch also recorded an excellent version of Jackson C Frank's song
Am listening to it now. Quite a different sound-very English, somehow. I don't listen to enough Bert Jansch...
Have you done any jim croce songs? Not dissimilar in style to this
Great idea-just having a look at Time in a Bottle now. Might be the most obvious choice, but it's a great song and plenty to get to grips with...
Another excellent lesson! The story of Jackson C Frank's life is so tragic!
Bert Jansch has lots of interesting fingerstyle songs, most are too complicated for me, but "Running from Home" is a good song, and not too difficult to play.
Thanks, just listening to Running from Home at the moment. Lots of people are mentioning Bert Jansch, perhaps I should have a play around and see what I can come up with
From 🇨🇦 many thanks.
My pleasure, Peter 😊
