  • I've heard a lot of smack talk about Booster plugs but it's always from people who have never installed one in their bike. Do Booster Plugs work? I installed one in my CB650F and I can say without doubt... watch the video!

    Booster plugs are essential to any bike that needs to run a bit richer than stock. Got one for my 2007 BMW F800ST and it also helped my bike stop stalling after longer rides.

    Owning a 2018 duke 390 euro 4 engine I really feel like buying this would help the bike at low revs and low speeds in town's etc... It's a good investment as I can see from your video! Just order it 😅😅😅

      Yup, if they make one for your bike, and they likely do, it'd be a good purchase. Be sure to get the real thing from Booster Plug. The inmitations don't work the same way.

    My VStrom needed one of these dearly. I have to say the KTM FI works well. The WR used to flame out a lot before all the mods.

      Some bikes are a lot worse than others in this regard. The cb650f is pretty good normally but I couldn't resist trying it out, and now that I have, I like it.

    does it affect fuel economy a lot? Always love your videos :)

    • @Scoottoots
      @Scoottoots  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks. It depends on the riding. Very little or no effect if just cruising on the highway, a minor increase in consumption on mixed riding, and more if pushing it on twisty roads where you're always accelerating or decelerating.

    I have an cbr650r, so same engine, different tune.
    My problem with my all stock bike is on trips with small roads i tend to be in the lower gears.
    When rolling on the throttle, my bike jumps, or Twitch.
    I have a friend who is said, booster plug, and i saw the video, and it sounds like it will fix my problem.
    But you did not mention the jump / Twitch from the bike before the booster plug.
    What do you think? Will it help me?

    • @Scoottoots
      @Scoottoots  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it helps somewhat with smoothing out the on/off throttle. The Booster Plug didn't remove it, but its better. Other remedies include throttle tamers which use a different cam lobe on the throttle tube that extends the twist necessary in the first part of the throttle. Here's the item: www.g2ergo.com/shop/g2-street-tamer-throttle-tube-honda/

    • @Scoottoots
      @Scoottoots  ปีที่แล้ว

      The Booster plug is a good economical solution, but an ECU flash with dyno tuning is the best way. Then you can have all parameters dialed in correctly, including ignition timing advance. That's assuming the tuner knows their stuff and has a good reputation.

      I routed it beneath the headlight assembly so it's fully in the fresh unheated air.

    How did the Dunlop Q3+ work out? Seen you put them on in 2020. What kind of kilos did you get out of them?

    • @Scoottoots
      @Scoottoots  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They were excellent tires in all regards. Great handling, grip, and longevity. I got 12,300 kms out of the front and the rear. For best handling I should have swapped them out at 10,000 kms though. The rear was getting a flat spot on the top affecting tip-in.

    Does it affect wide open throttle or redline?

    • @Scoottoots
      @Scoottoots  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you are still accelerating at WOT then yes it enriches the mixture. It does not alter the redline. The added enrichment in open loop mode is a subtle but felt improvement to the rideability and performance.

    Mine restricted I removed the stacks now the air is more and fuel is not as the air the motorcycle very lean does this will fix it?

    • @Scoottoots
      @Scoottoots  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, it would not be the solution in your case. To derestrict your bike you would need to replace the restricted intake funnels with the unrestricted versions, then you would need to flash the ECU with the unrestricted files. If you do not do both the funnels and the ECU flash (or a brand new unrestricted ECU instead of the flash) your engine will run dangerously lean possibly causing major failure.

    Hi. I have a 2016 Cbr 650 f and bought the boosterplug for it. Connected it and went to reinstall the tank and it wont go far enough down. No room for the boosterplug it seems. Where did you mount yours??? Under the tank??

    • @Scoottoots
      @Scoottoots  ปีที่แล้ว

      The only thing that goes under the tank are the electrical connectors for the Booster Plug; one end into the ECU connector that originally plugged into the stock air temp sensor, the other into the stock Air Temp Sensor connector on top of the air box lid. I then tucked the booster plug module beside the air box in an available spot by the frame, as I recall. Then you route the Air Temp Sensor rod from the Booster Plug to beneath your headlamp so it gets nothing but cool air coming across it. Everything fit perfectly. Hope that helps.

    • @76osto
      @76osto ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Scoottoots That helps a lot. I have to make the wire that goes from the booster plug to the air box lid longer, its way to short as it is. Its just about 7 cm long so there is no way to put it to the side. The sensor itself i was thinking of cable tie to one of the fork legs beneath the front fairing. Would that be okay??

    • @Scoottoots
      @Scoottoots  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@76osto My model year is 2018 so it is a different Booster Plug model number from yours. My cables on the booster plug were plenty long enough. It's odd that yours were too short. I hope your workaround is successful. Yes, anywhere you can place the sensor rod where it will get fresh cool air around it will be fine. Good luck 🙂
