We took 10 ash & 5 Elm Trees down in the last couple of Weekends. Still more to come. Most likely to come down in Spring. We shared the Wood with those that Burn it. Thanks for Sharing. God Bless.
Experimenting with your equipment is a great way to learn what does and does not work. I only have pallet forks for my little BX and recently tried loading my trailer. I think I will try cutting my logs shorter so I can load from the back of the trailer and then I can roll the log out when it is time to unload them. Thanks for the video Tim and Kristy.
I've been a ttwt subscriber for a while now and i have say hands down my favorite episode is Tim riding with his dad in the combine a video from a couple of years ago, Tim's dad is a spitting image of my grandfather i lost in 2005, keep up the awesome content Tim and Christy you guys are wonderful and i would like to thank you as youtube guru for taking the time to make videos for the rest of to enjoy!!!
I think that one is my favorite as well. For those who haven’t seen it, here it is: Ride along with Tim's dad. Corn Harvest. John Deere 9770 STS Combine, 8335R Tractor th-cam.com/video/17xraYmrFBQ/w-d-xo.html
I didn't think you were having a tough time with the root grapple on the pile so much. I really like that grapple!!! I like that the cylinders are on the ends to support the grapple where the most leverage pressure on the clamping occurs. You guys were having so much fun! Love these videos!
Tim thanks for all the vids. Based on your advice I ordered a 2038r with loader backhoe 60" deck and forks. I got a great deal with local dealer that got me a trailer too at cost. Not cheapest but feel good about the dealer and my spidy sense over the years has mostly been right. Will have it in 2 weeks. Cheers for the discount codes on heavy hitch too!
I have a 2038R. It's been a great tractor. FYI- I'm currently trying to make a 60D mower lift system that works with the loader. Yes, it the same idea JD has for the one series tractor 60D mower but not the two series 60D mower. I don't know why JD doesn't make for the 2 series.
Nice video Tim, I have been using pallet forks on my MF1739 for the past 3 years, just recently purchased a third function kit from WR-Long got it installed and a week ahead purchased a 66” brush grapple from Tomahawk Equipment. Been cutting firewood for the past two days used the grapple today to clear trails and move logs around it is a little better than the forks gives a bit more control holding the logs over the forks where if you would hit a bump you can loose them or they bounce off the forks. Keep up the good work and the informative videos: Thanks and god bless. J. Misch
I use my 2038 for my small cattle farm and that things a beast handle round bails with ease and wish Tim would get a special code for a round bail spike for the front of the 2 series loader John Deere
I work in the log yard for a veneer mill and handle somewhere in the neighborhood of 45,000 board feet of logs a day with nothing but forks on a front end loader. Approximately 800-850 average sized logs. It takes practice to handle them efficiently but forks can certainly get the job done...
Anxiously awaiting the details of that grapple. Hope it survives the 30 day test. Give it all ya got Tim! Not sure if it’s too big but I’ve been shopping for a grapple for my 2025R. I like the clamshell/root style and double cylinders and this is the first of that style I have seen with dual lids. Like the 1025R I can’t lift very high so the shorter tines would be a benefit for me on the 120R loader.
I hope this video was made on a Saturday so everyone one got a bath. I think you should have put the forks on Johnny II to compare their operation. The need grapple looks great too.
Hi Tim. Bought my first 1025r a month ago... my wife blames you.. lol anyhow. What is the best attachment for leveling a yard that I’ve just used my grapple to rake? Is it an attachment I need or should I learn to scrape better with my bucket or grapple. I’m still learning. Thanks
Well, there are many ways to do that. If you have a tiller, you can loosen/fluff it, then use a drag (chain link fence section, railroad tie, etc). I have just used the bucket frequently after tilling. Without a tiller, you need to get the soil loosened someway. Some folks recommend a box blade with scarifiers. I’m not a fan for this particular purpose. Doesn’t this help?
Tractor Time with Tim thanks for the reply. What I have is piles of old mulch from trees I cut down a few years ago I’m trying to spread around and even out. The mulch is now soil and I plan to eventually plant grass and create some new plant beds .. it’s across 1!acre or so and between trees as well. Remove brush ext with the grappler as well.. just wondering if I need something to be more efficient or better skills..lol. I’ll see if I can make a drag
I think the 2038R is a great tractor. How did the grapple handle "twisting" motions from off center logs? 60inch grapple? Great video!! Thanks for what you do!
That grapple attachment is designed to keep load as close to privet point as possible. Looks like it works good for dumping but not so good to pick up logs. It don't go under the logs as nice as forks. One thing you need to be careful of with those girl attachment with out load backrest is it could fall back on you. When I bought the fork attachment I got the heaver fork attachment with load backrest. It's much safer but does reduce lift capacity
So as to not bang the bed of trailer... bangs bed of other guys trailer haha. Just poking. I know the new paint feeling. Like seeing the 2 machines work together. Still indecisive on 1 series or 2 for myself.
Haven’t watched yet but this is very timely Tim. My logging isn’t quite what your opening shows. I bought the Titan clamp on forks with stabilizer. Haven’t used them yet so I’m looking forward to this video.
Since the grapple is clearly meant for this sort of job, it would be a LITTLE bit more fair to have the grapple on Johnny and the forks on Johnny 2. Next comparison - pick up and carry IBC tote wood drying/storage racks 100'.
I was trying to decide which attachments to buy when I can afford my tractor. The grapple or forks. Both have there place when working with the tractor. I've decided I need both. My wife thanks you Tim! lol
A grapple is nice for sure........but a good set of forks goes a long way especialy if its all you have. And after trial and error and practice........you can be as fast if not faster with forks. All i have is forks for my old 410 backhoe.......its slow but when you plan your moves just right i can get wood out of the pile a full forkfull
Sure wish I had a grapple when I was heating my house & helping others with firewood back in the 70's through the 90's!! Make fun out of hard work! Great video Tim.
I’m sure you can. You can run the electrical however you see fit. However it works for you!...they even offer a cigarette lighter plug version you could use.
Thank you. I will explore running the wire under the fender and under the floorboards without removing them. I am not as creative as you. 😩. That is why I love your videos
I see with what you are trying to do by picking up stacked logs a rock bucket with its longer tines and with duel grapples would work much better than what you have with the shorter tines. They do make them without the large sides that would not be good for picking up brush and long logs. The long tines could slide underneath then once you’ve gotten under clamp down and Walla probably more than it can pick up.
Tractor Time with Tim no only what you have, I don’t own any equipment at all just a old man who watches your videos for my entertainment and throw in my two cents ever now and then.
I see you like using the heavy hitch on the back of your three point The only problem I see is that you have your ballast weight raised much too high you need to have that ballast as low as possible to keep your center of gravity as low as possible your rear ballast weight should be just high enough that it does not come in contact with the ground behind you,
Hi Tim. I looked back at some of your videos looking for forks for my 1025 John Deere. I looked st heavyhitch.com and see a model of them there. Are these the ones you would recommend? If so would the 42" size work ok for the 1025r? Thank you in advance!
Our forks are from artillian.com. Highly recommend. I like the 36”. The artillian are expensive, but very lightweight...leaving lots of lift capacity for the payload.
I am not that big of a fan of the backrest. I think it is 'in the way' most of the time. I usually run without it. I have one...but I don't use it much. I am NOT a fan of bucket attached forks. Not a good solution at all.
In my experience loading heavy logs in those dump trailers I'm finding that I'm denting my trailer from the inside out. Please like comment and subscribe my channel.

Moving logs with the forks. You can't be too careful. Things can roll over the back of the lift and crush the operator, as happened in our community. A sad day.

They both are great attachments for a Log pile it's up to what ever the equipment owner can afford financially

Tim. If you with your careful cautiousness breaks something. It better not be sold. Enjoy your predicaments as always. 😍
Seems like a lot of your work has grown up and the 2 series is now the ticket?
I am waiting for my root grapple for my new 3033R and can’t wait. Request for an auto throttle video Tim, it would be helpful.
Yes. Need to do an auto-throttle video.
practice grasshopper! I have had a Anbo GRM grapple for 10 years its a nimble as my hands now!

The grapple did a good job of picking up the logs and loading them in the trailer!
Man I need to get me a dump trailer been using a friends and it has been a life saver, but gotta give it back! Lol
Me got a question. Is it more beneficial to carry the 3ph high like that when used as a counter balance? 🤔🤔🤔

I have a question about the 2038r tractor? why is there a dpf in it and when does it need regen?
Nice job Tim, still wish that tractor was orange but what can ya do 😂
we use pallet forks on a kubota TLB to move around 35-60 foot utility poles at work. it's all about how you use them I think is ticket.
I hope this video was made on a Saturday so everyone one got a bath. I think you should have put the forks on Johnny II to compare their operation. The need grapple looks great too.
Never even thought about it being a comparison until we got there and were shooting the video. The grapple is obviously much more efficient.
put rubber stall mats in bottom. helps a lot.
Hey , I enjoyed this video! It was great watching the lift capability of the 2038R ! Did she get light in the rear or are the weights enough?
These weights were enough for this work. We did not approach max capacity for The 2r
I'm make a guess at the grapple. Is it a EA grapple. Everything Attachments. Their attachments always have a lot of holes cut into them
Looks similar...but no
what does atrilian mean in the forks
Artillian is the brand name. Get it at Artillian.com
Quick question. Is that a 16ft or a 14ft?
And I might’ve missed a video on it but does your 2038r fit in there with the grapple on and backhoe.
16ft.
Not sure if it fits with backhoe. I’ve had it in there with grapple and heavy hitch.
Great video 👍
Tim , would love to know the specs on the grapple as soon as testing is done , like size and weight.
This looks like what i would want for my 2520 :-)
