- England 2-1 Germany! England win the Euro 2022 champions winning their first piece of major silverware. A goal from Chloe Kelly at extra time sealed the win, followed by an iconic celebration. Ella Toone opened the scoring for England which was levelled out by Germany's Magull. Wembley was sold out, millions watched around the world and history was made. What's not to enjoy. Here's how I spent my afternoon x
I couldn’t help but feel watching this game that woman’s football in England just got a rocket strapped to it’s back, and it’s well deserved.
I didn’t expect myself to get emotional at all (I did), but I don’t think I quite realised as a guy that there have been legions of young girls starved of witnessing their heroes like I got to do continuously throughout my childhood when growing up. Seeing all those young girls witness their heroes being made in real time was truly incredible.

A pleasure to 'watch' this Euros with you. Ended up watching every match. After seeing the youngins taking over on just about every team now, I can say that women's football is in good hands. And...Scotland should've been there.

I went to three matches in the Euros, two games at Leigh my local ground and the final at Wembley, it was an absolutely outstanding occasion, the game was a tough one and England had a real battle but the noise and atmosphere in Wembley was out of this world
That pass for England's first goal was Pirloesque.

England did have a stroke of luck with one of German's top goal scorer not play on the day. So it was a great start and had a great chance to win and thank god we did and well done the ladies. Finally after all these years Football came home.

In the 1970s when the English mens team was in the doldrums and failing to qualify for consecutive world cups, I supported Scotland in those tournaments (1974 and 1978. In 1978 I was on the edge of my seat during that game against Holland).
However, as I got older I realised that the support the English gave to the Scots was not reciprocated and that the Scots would support literally anyone who was playing against the English.
Unsurprisingly, I then started to wish nothing but disaster upon the Scots (in purely sporting terms). I rejoiced when they (frequently) embarrassed themselves against sides they really should have been defeating in their sleep.
You have started to turn me back again.
It was very refreshing to see a Scottish person being so positive about something that an English team has achieved. Perhaps the anti English thing is more predominant amongst males?
Anyway, as far as I am concerned, in female sport, so long as Scotland are not playing against England I will once more support Scotland.
As far as male sport goes, I still hope Scotland lose against any side they are up against.
It most certainly is predominantly between men. England and the UK are considered by many to be the most respected country in the world with the most soft power aswell though music, tv, literature etc yet all the anti English haters have two things in common. They’re men and their football fans!!!
Scotland have always been very 'clannish' in their support only for Scots when playing the English and I'm too old to get into all that; If they are British and against a foreign team outside Britain I support them!
Did anyone notice that when England male team lost the European Final all the world rejoiced? Now that the Lionesses won everybody is happy? One must think about! Anyway I'm from Italy and I'm very happy that England won.
I found it funny in a good way, that when Italy was eliminated some Italian media found that since Russo, who seems destined to become England superstar in women football, has Italian ancestors, it would be a good idea to support England :)
I was one that cheers against the men last year lol but in this Euro I rooted a lot for the women's team and I was very happy with this victory.
WSL is too restricted to many due to most games being played on a Sunday! within a couple of seasons of Brighton moving into the Amex they had played a game on every weekday, why cant the women do that too? I'd love to go to a game but im always at work when they are played! As a United fan I am delighted that Spurs v United is a Saturday as I actually have a chance to watch it, hopefully get a ticket but worst case I can atleast tune in to it

It’s kinda sad that Scot’s have this “anyone but England” thing going on. What have the English done to deserve such hostility? I feel a lot of Scot’s claim victimhood and act as though they were oppressed by the English yet history doesn’t paint that picture. It was Scotland that bankrupted themselves trying to emulate England, France and Spain by creating their own colonies, they even colonised Ireland yet we always get the blame for that. And when it all went tits up their King James dragged England into a Union with Scotland against their will so the English could pay off all their debts. Scotland are as much to blame for the crimes of the British Empire as the English and the Welsh.

It’s really disappointing seeing on You Tube the number of people who attended this final just to film vlogs. These tickets could have gone to genuine supporters who were there to support the team not to people intent of self promoting their You Tube channels. It’s quite sad really!
