I found the problem - Hypoid gear was destroying the pinion gear because of bad bearing on hypoid shaft- so I fixed problem by ordering used rear differential - cause can't find hypoid gear anywhere - discontinued. But hey its running and will be good to go. Found your video on 2005 ATP today - my ecm is still good thank god. Your videos are very helpful. Thanks.
I have a idea for a video if you run into a rear differential issue - please make a video - it would be great to follow you along troubleshooting and fixing my rear dif - I have 2005 Polaris 500 ATP 4x4 and just getting started on it but if you do have a video that will help me out please let me know - keep up the great work. thanks.
@Titaniumman Garage I have an 08 sportsman with worn splines on the rear differential shaft. Looks like a sizeable job to replace. Have you come across this often?
Hey - Long time - been real busy with all kinds of projects - you know me Hehe. But I just picked up a 2005 Polaris ATP 500 4x4 that runs but when shifting it either doesn't engage all the way each time and starts grinding - I'm thinking rear differential but wanted your thoughts - it goes through the gears but i hear a clunking sound coming from back end - almost positive i need to rebuild the rear differential but thought i would take a shot on asking the expert. Sorry haven't been around much just had a whole lot happen recently and will catch you up in the near future - been doing great on golf carts though and upgrading them like i told you before and aliso picked up a 1998 artic cat 500 4x4 in almost pristine condition just needed carb cleaned and battery for $200 so still finding those great deals. Anyway if you have time shoot me a message or email or let me know what you think. I'm pulling everything off and getting it ready for repair so when i do ill have more room to work. Anyway still watch your videos - they have been life savers keep up the great work. I tell my friends all about your channel so driving you in some viewers and they were as impressed as i was when i saw them the first time - so keep it up your doing great.
I have a 2003 that doesn't slide together in the middle. It doesn't have enough room back or forth to come off. Do I have to pull the rear differential?
Hey how are you my friend I know you were doing soon we're doing some videos on cams I couldn't find it I thought I saved it I have a 2001 Polaris sportsman 400 what would you recommend recommend aftermarket camps and others a lot of Chinese garbage out there is there a specific one that you think is pretty good I can't really find to use when I need a Cam and Is rocker arms
Yeah. It's pretty cheap and easy to fix if you can get in there. Lots of people are getting rid of the 425s I must have 5 425 blown motors sitting around.
It was used on a farm. Usually when heavy towing is involved. I've seen them with 1500 miles on them and need u joints. Just depends on how well they kept everything lubed up.

Hey at 2:00 min you were right the first time . The pins are on the crank side and the dif side slides right out with no pins in that end .

You might. I has a magnum I had to do that too.

I would look for a used one I'm good shape. Ebay should have them.
I got tired of the magnum 425 and got a 06 Polaris sportsman 800 it has this problem and so dose my friend I seen the whole thing for $80 on eBay

What if your new drive shaft doesn't slide
I use grease and an air hammer
How many miles did you have when you had these parts wear out?
3100
@@TitaniummanGarage wow. That sounds like very early wear for only 3100 miles. Do you know if that's typical at all?

I have a 2004 600 same issue can u give me some ideas to repair
If it's not the prop shaft it's probably your front or rear dif. Those years were known for bad differentials.
Replace the whole thing then you know it's 100%
how do you replace it
one end fits the other doesnt
Very carefully!!
